General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Sora's first stream had 13 viewers. The grind was real.
And by the time 2nd gen debuted (certainly 3rd gen), it's become big enough you'd have to prove your salt before you can join. I shudder what would've happened to Subaru, who had no prior experience prior to Hololive and had nothing but passion, had she not gotten in at the time she did.

Only a matter of time boys, until octopus-mother shares some words with the audience.
The cutest thing is how much some of their mothers respect their jobs, Mamanis keeps following Ina even after she tried to hide her streams from her, Pekomama was happy when finding out her daughter is a chuuba, even Kiara's mama is nice!
Not sure if this worth anything, but MatPat said in a recent video that there's enough ad revenue in being a youtube partner that people are going full time at only 10k subs. While the lesser performing Holos may be way behind in superchats and memberships, Ad revenue on top of merchandising are probably the bigger piece of the pie.
YouTube has a colossal amount of ads, to the point of being unbearable without adblockers. Considering that Hololive is very popular, plus many people watching YouTube from the apps, in which most people don't know how to make it ad free, there is a pretty fucking big pie to be shared lol!

Sora's first stream had 13 viewers. The grind was real.
Miko started as a competitor to Kizuna A.I. that flopped hard and almost considered quitting altogether, Mel got stalked hard and had to delay her debut to go after the fucker in court, HoloEN had nobody but themselves to rely on. You can say that the most recent talents have it easier, almost everyone gets 100k subs just by being in Hololive, but it's hard work from the point you get picked, onwards!

If I recall Hololive was quite discreet until Miko played that part in GTAV when Franklin gets roasted, after which she said the gamer word and the twitter body snatchers decided to "cancel" her, but it backfired and she became insanely popular.
That was the moment that saved Miko from irrelevance, yes. I don't think there is a single moment that can be pinpointed as the catalyst that made Hololive blow up, there are also Coco and Korone bringing in overseas viewers, Fubuki with the viral scatman video, plenty of moments are there to point at sudden booms of popularity!

And by the time 2nd gen debuted (certainly 3rd gen), it's become big enough you'd have to prove your salt before you can join. I shudder what would've happened to Subaru, who had no prior experience prior to Hololive and had nothing but passion, had she not gotten in at the time she did.
Yagoo liked her because of her determination, she walked in with nothing else to offer and that impressed him. Besides being a woman, she didn't really fit any of the other prerequisites, had no experience, just passion like you said. I do think Yagoo sees something in the people that would never see the doors of a normal entertainment venue, he picked up older talents, talents with no experience, socially anxious talents. You would never see someone like Pekora, Korone, Miko, Aqua in television or radio!

First big break for holo is definitely this. 8xtzyat325761.png

[Kronii has an elytra? Or did Miko just have no words for cape?

I wonder if some visiting fags here too think before they type, or even just proofread whatever the fuck they're gonna say before hitting the "post reply" button. Like damn, at least make it comprehensible and or grammatically sound if you're gonna sperg.
That was on the server they're using for the upcoming sports festival and they gave everyone elytra's.
And with the amount of people repeating and asking about things that happened just a couple of pages ago, you actually expect people to proofread on top of ignoring everything that's being said?

So did Hololive start off as an immediate success? They didn't have any early startup problems like most media companies do? Yagoo used his powers and boom... Hololive the vtuber brand everyone recognizes came into fruition?

That's the impression I get from watching that clip of Connor. It's like he thinks Hololive began as this big vtuber conglomerate. And that any streamer can join them and is immediately successful. Neglecting the fact it wasn't an overnight success. The reason any girl who joins the brand and automatically has 100K youtube subscribers without even debuting yet is because people recognize that brand they built up as a quality product.

But maybe I'm wrong and Hololive was this overnight success. I'm not too familiar with the early lore.
Early Hololive was very very small, Sora only had 13 viewers that weren't family, friends, or staff. She was alone for an entire year until Roboco came along. A number of them came close to quitting in the early days, Miko for example. Aki as well because the income was too low (can't eat hopes and dreams). When people mention salary from Hololive, it's only $200 USD a month according to Kanata (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpw7b1qV3qw) (prior to monetization).

Numbers by the years, Fubuki, Korone, and Aqua hitting strides late 2019/early 2020, the big boom didn't happen until late 2020.

Even Gen 3 was slow at the start as well, even though at this point they were big enough on the scene to pull big talents from NicoNico (Noel, Marine, Pekora - can't remember about Flare and Rushia).

Here's Flare and Korone when she reached 50k (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPhlrj-v_oI). They really had to claw their way upwards.

Edit - Fun fact, if you look at EN 2, you can see 2 noticable dips from YT bots going wild getting rid of subscribers.

@Eddie IX Are your SEAtard translation services for hire, by any chance? I get that this isn't exactly a wall of text, but every time I try to read this my eyes blatantly refuse to process it.
Lol more of a one-time thing for mockery, I have the health of my own eyes to think about after all. Instead of translating I'm now just scrolling past, but some people be feeding trolls like it's reddit around here.

Watching Rosemi's stream I think all the brands should invest in custom gloves for the streamers to make it look better than weird off the shelve too big gloves.
More like a single line of custom glove deals for streamers, send them a free pair and offer them a comission on sales in exchange for advertising them!

Shilling just for streamers isn't very profitable lol!

No way reading in character voice doesn't affect her vocal cords. Could be quite straining for a padawan singer if you take her lessons into account.

Is it just me, or Yabairis doesn't seem to be shaping according to Cover's plan? Which is, honestly, more than welcome.

"I keep saying 'retinal scan' as that other word. Which is funny, but not stream-appropriate." -Gura

Edit: She mentioned during superchats that she wants Cover to get an overseas distributor, which is something I know the thread grumbles about the lack of every time merch is issued.

Here is Subaru's thoughts about it
Her passion and perseverance can only bring you so far with the advent of the 3rd-4th Gen though

I thought they used the joined server haha my apologies. As for the other one, well maybe its just me getting used to people thinking they actually read what they're gonna say before editing and sending it; I forgot this is a diverse place mixed with fags

Thoughts aside, Calli is playing B4B with Ame, Ina, and IRyS
