US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

So, a bit of prediction for the Virginia race.

I don't think Youngkin is going to win. He's going to get close, but Virginia is right now solidly blue in both the Executive and Legislative branches. I do think the increased scrutiny will limit the Democrat's ability to cheat, but I don't see Virginia being wide enough for Youngkin to avoid them being able to fudge the numbers. I expect a shitshow, obviously, and more mounting pressure and attention but I don't see the critical mass having been hit yet to really turn things. I will happily be wrong if I am, I just don't see it.

I have tried for some time to avoid commenting on a topic that I felt should be so far beneath our political discourse that to give it the oxygen of attention would be to play into the strategic hopes of those who are seeking to debase our democracy. But as Yoda, the wise sage of Star Wars, might say if he was trying to fight those who have turned to the “dark side” of our national polity, ignore it no longer I can.

The issue at hand can succinctly be summed up in three words: “Let’s go Brandon.” If you have no idea what I am talking about, consider yourself fortunate. For reasons too mundane to fully outline here, “Let’s go Brandon” has become a favorite chant and rallying cry for many Republicans as a stand-in for another three-word chant that you may also have heard : “F- Joe Biden,” with F-, for the purposes of decorum in this newsletter, standing for a four-letter vulgarity. Search for “Let’s Go Brandon,” and you will start finding it everywhere - all over social media, a song with a ton of downloads on iTunes, at political rallies, and among snickering Republicans in Washington.

In a compelling column in the Washington Post, Dana Milbank uses the phrase to dive into the stark differences between the seriousness and propriety of the two political parties at this moment. He writes:

“Democrats clear the way for passage of a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that will provide broadband Internet and lead-free drinking water to every American, and better roads, bridges and ports for all to enjoy. And Republicans reply: Let’s go Brandon...
Could the contrast be any greater? Half of America’s leaders are trying to govern, and the other half are hurling vulgarities.”
The entire piece is worth the read, but for our discussion here I would like to delve a little deeper into what I think these vulgarities really mean, what motivates them, and what should be our - particularly the media’s - response.

Politics has never been a genteel pastime. The volume of vulgarities I heard covering the White House, Congress, and politics at the state and local level over the decades would rival any comedy special on HBO. In the passionate pursuit of power, discourse, especially behind the closed doors where the real action takes place, is often reduced to words that can be spelled with only four letters, or their adjectival equivalents. And no matter what side of the political divide you might be on, there have likely been moments when you are reading something or listening to an opposing politician speak and you have been moved to at least think of obscenities, if not utter them out loud. There have certainly been many Democratic politicians who have sworn about Republicans. But what we are witnessing here is fundamentally different.

“F- Joe Biden,” or the slightly less explicitly obscene but no more clever “Let’s go Brandon,” is about much more than political passion or anger. It’s about weaponizing the vulgar dehumanization of our entire democratic - small d - experiment. Joe Biden is not only a person; he is the President of the United States, whether your tinfoil-shrouded conspiracy brain cares to recognize that fact or not. How many times have we heard Republicans sanctimoniously preach about how Democrats don’t “respect” the office of the presidency for such things as President Obama not saluting properly or wearing a tan suit?

To be sure, many Democrats have said some form of “F- Donald Trump.” There was even a rap song to that effect. We all have a right to free speech. But when Republican elected representatives say “Let’s go Brandon” to end a speech on the House floor, like Bill Posey, a Republican from Florida did, or wear a “Let’s go Brandon” facemask, like South Carolina Republican Jeff Duncan did, or when Ted Cruz can’t get enough of it, something else is going on. This is a movement that has engulfed the party, and party leaders think they can use it to effectively rally their voters. The sad truth is that they are likely right.

It’s not surprising that the “F- Joe Biden” chant began at sporting events, because it is just the kind of thing that happens when tens of thousands of often inebriated fans get riled up over a game, feuling a group-enforced hatred for an opposing team. Adults who should know better sometimes get carried away. But this isn’t a game. This isn’t something where you act stupid on a Saturday afternoon and then can go back to your normal life once the beer and heartburn from the hot dogs have worn off. This is our national identity.

During the 2020 campaign, Republicans had a hard time demonizing Biden. Back to the sports analogy, he was like a player on your rival team that seems to be a good person and never makes offense. But now that he is president, those who want to undermine his power are eagerly following the ethos of the bums in the bleachers, and actively stoking vulgarity.

The hypocrisy is stunning. This is the political party that had a Republican candidate for governor of Virginia run an ad featuring a mother (who just happens to be a Republican activist) talk about how her son’s apparently innocent sensibilities were offended when he was assigned Toni Morrison’s classic novel Beloved in his high school’s AP English class. Learning about the horrors of slavery and the Black experience in America? No, we have to protect our youth from that. But having your six your old hear grown men and women use one of the vilest words in the English language to attack the president at a sporting event? That’s apparently patriotic free speech. And a hoot at that.

This chant perfectly encapsulates the rot and unseriousness of the Republican party - like the smart-alec in the classroom who adds nothing but juvenile taunts and distractions. And let’s be honest, it isn’t just this chant. Go back to the t-shirts sold at Trump rallies in 2016 and what they said about Hillary Clinton, or for that matter the merchandise showcased at Trump rallies today.

The unseemliness of this is so grotesque that I think many in the Washington press seek to ignore it. Or they report on it as a special phenomenon to explain to their readers. But that is to fundamentally misjudge this moment in American history. Immature vulgarity, fueled by bigotry, misogyny, sanctimony, privilege, unseriousness, flippancy, and ignorance, is what is animating the former president, his base, and thus by extension the entire Republican party over which he rules.

It’s easy for the more “respectable” Washington Republican officials to wave away the crassness in the face of questions, just like they tried to distance themselves from Trump's tweets, back when he was still on Twitter. But this is more than just words. Hateful speech has a way of becoming violent action, Just remember how the insurrectionists on January 6 were riled up to storm the Capitol.

This is Donald Trump allowing the basest of human instincts to triumph over reason. It is a party that marches, in almost lockstep, under a banner of misplaced victimhood, of vilifying those who are different, of denying the truth, and having the chutzpah - fueled by privilege - to announce a hateful ignorance to the world with raw vulgarity, or the meekest fig leaf of innuendo. Let’s go Brandon? How about let’s go America?

I only see 1 & 3 happening once shit really hits the fan. Massive shortages nation wide, not the ones we have now. Like no beer bad. Massive Internet restrictions. No porn.

Nobody asked me, but since we're doing the autistic predicting of the future schtick I will say this;

They will never allow option 2.

Switching who the president is would massively damage their credibility and standing at a time when it's already on shaky ground. With the current climate of the nation, this would effectively be hanging out a giant sign that says, 'Civil War Time!' Kings don't abdicate mid-coup unless they're literally leaving their lackey to get guillotined in their stead.

Which brings me to the point of Biden being the obvious choice if someone's neck has to go on the chopping block. Someone somewhere will do the math and say, 'Maybe we can run Kamala for president in ten years when this has blown over.' Joe's already on death's door. He's the obvious sacrificial lamb if things go really sour.

I unfortunately have to agree with Salubrious on this. Except it isn't only racism.

In my case Obama decided to establish a marsh refuge where my home is. This was done through a back door where private citizens can donate land to the Fish and Wildlife service and they go "welp, guess people really wanted this" without a public comment period.

Now I had always figured "Give people universal healthcare so they shut the fuck up about it but don't touch my land." Which they responded to by putting me and mine in the sights of a government bureaucracy.

And they genuinely cannot figure out why this pisses me off. They cannot realize that their attitude of "Well, that's a YOU problem but you really need to support Democrats despite them fucking you over" was an issue.

If I remember correctly this thread of conversation was about "Let's go Brandon." They hate that because so many people are doing it now. Every time that chant starts, their brains short out because "HOW FUCKING DARE THESE PEOPLE DISAGREE! HOW DARE THEY NOT BEND THE KNEE AND ACCEPT THE LEASH!? DO THESE PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND WE HAVE THEIR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART!?" At the core of it is the hubris of the liberal.

The best interests thing is always funny juxtaposed with the havoc they wreak on themselves and everyone around them. Like having everyone sharing their unfulfilling, bugman lives and mood disorders wouldn’t just make all their problems worse. Misery loves company I guess.
The most interesting event in Larry Elder's campaign is the day he was chased out of the homeless encampment (by a woman wearing a gorilla mask chucking eggs at him of course), and there was a news article of the event in which a pregnant homeless woman shouted at Elder "You have no interest in helping us!"

Uh, ma'am? You are pregnant, homeless, and let's be honest probably don't know who the father is. I don't think Newsom is really helping you either right now.

But these people are so conditioned to think REPUBLICANS BAD that they cannot see how any of their own cities being destroyed is even remotely the fault of the Dems.

Misdemeanors are damn near legal in San Francisco and other cities. Chicago is refusing to imprison gang violence even when people are killed as "mutual combat." These people will literally see others killing each other in the streets because of Democrat policies and STILL think it's better than the Republicans being in charge. Even the people not actually benefitting from the violence.

This is one of the reasons why I have no issue with "The Great Migration" happening right now. It's not hardcore Dems fleeing the cities except maybe some techies to Austin. These are the center or center-right finally getting the fuck out of cities. That's one of the reasons why I think the Republicans will do well in the mid-terms: purple areas are starting to turn light-red.

The Texas abortion law will most likely be struck down, and I think that's correct. It's more about the enforcement system being Frankensteined together than abortion.

When the Mississippi abortion case comes up is when we'll know if they're truly cucks or not. There's no legal tricks to that. It's "can we kill a human with a heartbeat?" The Roe v. Wade scientific tests are really out of date, so it's a real thrown gauntlet to grapple with the facts directly.

The way censorship works, I reckon "Let's go Brandon" has more weight to it than "fuck Joe Biden" because it's used as a proxy. The left knows this and it makes them absolutely furious.
"Let's go, Brandon," beyond the obvious meaning derived from its origins, to me reads like a dare. It's "thanks, Obama" for the modern era, a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement that whatever is coming tomorrow from Biden will be worse than what he's shitting out today, literally and figuratively. "Let's go, Brandon" is "let's pump the gas on clown world and enjoy the ride." Come on, Joey, what've you got for us now?

Its less then that. There are 300,000 TOTAL mail in ballots in Virginia (you have to apply ahead of time) that could be both R or D compared to the 1 mil in 2020. The Dems are suing cause they think that a few thousand are just sitting at USPS in a three districts that lean left. USPS has told them to shove it up their ass and that they are doing their jobs.
I heard a radio ad in Virginia yesterday from the USPS saying "we can trust that our votes are secure" and "we will have packages delivered at Christmastime." It was wild, wild, wild. Definitely a signal of the Dem Civil War as the postals are tired of being a punching bag.

Regarding the breath of life, it's referred to quite a few times...

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” ~Genesis 2:7

"All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; 4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit." ~ Job 27:3-4

"If he set his heart upon man, If he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; All flesh shall perish together, And man shall turn again unto dust.." ~Job 34:14-15

I could go on with more scriptures... and the Catholic church and various denominations disagree with me, but the facts remain. According to the Bible, the soul enters the body through breath, and leaves the body with the final breath. This is undisputed throughout the Bible.

Regarding cutting your balls off, these are the words of Christ Himself...

"For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it." ~Matthew 19:12

The pertinent part is "which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake"; this indicates that the eunuchs that have made themselves so did so to get into Heaven. You can of course get into Heaven with your parts intact, but the Bible stresses that thoughts are the same as deeds (for example, Jesus says (paraphrasing) if you lust after a woman, it's the same as having fucked her), so of course if you don't have your balls and sex drive, you won't have to worry about such struggles and can focus on God 100%. The Council of Nicea, being full of men with nuts, of course wanted to stress that you don't HAVE to do so, and Jesus meant this metaphorically only. This is the root of Catholic priests being unable to marry. However, for many centuries there were those who took this passage literally, though this wasn't a majority consensus, and there were many eunuchs resulting.

Certainly, GOD is in no way against mutilating genitals, as at its core the Bible CONDONES genital mutilation repeatedly (circumcision).
Hey, man, I'm not going to dunk on this too much, but your hermeneutics are not very good.

If Biden strokes out, I want one of the hard core ones.

On live TV.

I want him to have an explosive cerebral hemorrhage.

Ever seen one of those?

They're fucking gruesome.

The victim starts chattering/clacking their jaws like a fucking cenobite, blood gushes out of their nose and ears, and either blood runs out of their eyeballs or their eyeballs pop from t he sockets. They also spasm for a second before they fall down.

They're dead before the blood comes out their nose.

Could you imagine that on live TV?

I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.
If something like this is to happen the last thing he better say is "The Box, you opened it" then start chattering away because I want to imagine the poor fucker who managed to solve a rubiks cube a few minutes earlier having a heart attack.

Name one state where overturning the election is an actual possibility.
Arizona.

But of course, this isn't on the table at the moment, but the audit did show findings of fraud which has prompted more investigations & I believe there's another investigation underway in Pima county. This goes without mentioning that decertifying is an unprecedented move.

Well that sucks on the Texas abortion law. I really don't think the dems should get their why after acting like spoil childern. Also why aren't the Supreme Court listening to the New York abortion case. I never liked how dems what people's taxes to pay for hoes abortions

I've held for a long time now that when it comes to the topic of abortion, before morality or any other argument becomes relevant is the problem of it needing to be a state's rights issue. I'll be disappointed in the USSC if they pull a rabbit out of their ass and say it's unconstitutional primarily for that reason alone. States should have much more capacity to decide for themselves where they stand on cultural issues, it's the same reason that I'm still more than a bit disappointed in the gay marriage ruling.

That's pretty much me as well. I really think it should be a state choice. I am pro-life. But I really do think it should be a state decision if they want to have pro-life or pro-abortion laws.

Personally, I think whether Youngkin wins or not depends on whether McAuliffe underperforms like he did last time. If McAuliffe is 4 points below the RCP average on election night, I suspect that Youngkin will win regardless of electoral "fortification".
