Having the Holo Bass thing in mind, is this ok? The game itself is not monetized but the (early) access is behind a patreon paywall. But since it will released for everyone there should be no problem, idk

She's been pushing the sub thing hard in her streams is probably part of it. declared her intent to beat Millie to 100k and brings it up several times per stream directing people to sub to her to "prove she's a cool mom and reach 100k before Millie"

In a nutshell lack of feedback and consistency from hololive is what caused the whole debacle. Personal opinion, of course.
Guidelines for content creators got released following aforementioned drama: https://en.hololive.tv/terms
These things tend to be written in a way that gives IP holders wiggle room to take down stuff they deem unsuitable for existence. So, who knows what internal guidelines actually state and how their derivative content checkers operate?
Although, I don’t think Hololive or by extension Nijis could be considered strict. A bad precedent here and there is inevitable.

Thats...kinda shitty behavior ngl. I never see someone so outright competitive to their genmate or anyone in general when it come to number fagging before. Is Millie in on this like a kind of mutual race?

Millie doesn't give a fuck lol she and Enna are pretty happy just existing in NijiEN together.

Her numberfagging is a bit cringe but I don't think Millie views it as shitty either. All 4 of them are always talking to each other behind the scenes.

Besides the guidelines seeming to have a bigger bias against derivative music creations over anything else, let's look at this from another angle: there are countless artists that make R18 artwork of any and all of the holo girls and put them behind a FANBOX/Fantia/Patreon paywall and receive absolutely no repercussions. COVER cares more about creations that can be registered into a service that utilizes automatic content IDing since a system like that can automatically place claims on the talents' own streams (like we just saw a few days ago with some other random music artist) I don't think a random fangame that's still being released for free and only being monetized to the extent of a donation style service for early acces is gonna be on COVERS radar anytime soon.

I will never be bored of saying thag Holo fanworks now reminds me with 2hu back in the days. Can you imagine the output Touhou fandom will have if people back then have the current level of development tool and engines?

Also you can argue that the paywall is only for the development build, something to help the development. So long as the game is released for free in the end, I don't think Cover would mind

Its actually a standard thing in the doujinshi world, the culture is designed that the IP holder will always have the power to ask for creators to stop producing works that they deemed unfit for their IP, or might interfere with their business plan

Don't forget that Hololive inspired more actual porns compared to other VTubers (except Kizuna AI). If they won't attack works like that, a simple fangame is fine. The problem with Holobass is that he put the work in a platform with content ID system, something that might actually harm Cover due to the bullshit way the copyright bot works. Of course, threatening a talent during a charity stream also worsened the situation

Competitive numberfagging is the worst type of numberfagging, because by saying you're trying to "beat" your genmates you're not only trying to make yourself feel better, you're also implying you want your colleagues to feel worse (than you, at least). I don't give a fuck about what she's done before joining Niji, but this is a bad attitude and she should feel bad.

The one Russian woman I know is hyper competitive, but also has terrible lag and anger problems, so she gets banned, kicked and blacklisted from Discords and raids. So this all sounds about right.
