He wasn't even officially banned for being offensive. He was banned because of his "raw, unedited footage", at a time when "let's plays" were not as accepted as they are now (and even now they are still only in a legal grey area, which will be the case until it goes to court). All his "offensiveness" did was draw attention to him and his rule breaking to blip.

I just watched the Mega Man X2 TIHYDP. It is uncanny how much of an stubborn idiot Phail already was back then. Constantly trying to brute force the game, not even trying to prevent getting hit, relying on grinding and tanking hits instead of avoiding them. "I guess I use a subtank, just in case." Yeah, not shit idiot, otherwise you would have been ending up dead 'cause you got hit over and over. "AH-AH-AH-AH-AH I KICKED HIS ASS!" I don't even know how to comment this. All his well known failure and toxicity is already there, if not in full bloom as of today yet. You could already have a presentiment of things to come through his comments, in his outbursts when the game "drops his inputs" or "the control layout is fucked", in his "education talk" about the game when he fucks up the MMX lore with the MM lore, in his constant burping (which I guess back then in his mind would make him look "tough" and a "no nonsense guy"), in his unbearable way of talking. All his trademarks, all his insecurities, all the reasons to avoid him like cancer... all already visible in the open. Eh.... Well, that all is nothing new of course. But it helped me remembering that Phail always has been a toxic asshole, just when I started feeling pity for this human garbage once again.
