They definitely do exist, but the vast majority of people who are labelled TERFS are neither TERFs nor anywhere close to being one. Here is a good example of a genuine TERF, a person who believes men are biologically predisposed to violence and anyone born with a Y chromosome is an inherent threat to women. In this worldview the obvious conclusion is that trans women are nothing more than wolves in sheep's clothing, an attempt by the predators to blend in with their prey. Probably the most famous TERF is Valerie Solanas, a lolcow of the 70s who wrote a spergy manifesto and tried to murder Andy Warhol.

The number of people who actually think like this is tiny. But the fact that actual TERFs have no real power and for the most part just keep to themselves doesn't matter to the left. That there are people out there who simply exist who won't affirm their beliefs when asked to is unacceptable. It's the same reason why they complain so much about Fox News when it's the only major news outlet that isn't left-wing. To slightly rework something Jim himself likes to say in his videos, it's not enough that they have control over some or even most of the media, they have to have control over all of it. They can have control over 99% of society, but they won't be able to rest until they have control over the other 1%.
