Hospital systems have entire buildings dedicated to only genetics of certain backgrounds, for example a huge and famous hospital system here has something called the Center for Jewish Genetics that they’ve partnered with other hospitals for.

I seem to recall some for the Amish as well, I saw a few documentaries on them. One Amish town built its own like hospital center, and employed a non-Amish doctor (I think he was middle eastern, this docu was from the late 90s probably) just to treat their weird genetically tarded incest babies with rare shit that u only see in closed and incestuous communities.

One woman I know, her kid had classic autism, was smart and engaged until age 2 or 3 . She won't have any more kids because 1 special needs mostly mute child is enuf. She is VERY concerned about her son outliving her, and getting raped in care homes (father lives out of country, visa stuff). She is Very realistic that she put savings away (she is a high earner thankfully) because she doesn't want him in the rando state care nursing homes where something could happen to him. He's 7, and she's like 30 now. Most parents can't do what she is, but she is Very realistic that things will not get better for him without her alone, saving$$$$$$ for that and also being very involved in his AB therapy school. He can do very simple words now but still mostly screeches. She is scared that if she has a car accident or something that his life will be... Well terrible without her or her 6figure$ to take care of him in good care homes . She is probably the most pragmatic and realistic special needs parent I know, doesn't post about it on social media or ask for gibs n shit. ANd is smart by Not having any more kids.

You ever stop to think that maybe your jaundiced, hypoxic kid is admitted to the hospital because she's sick and you DON'T actually know everything? I don't doubt that Paisley appeared "comfortable" on her home vent settings AT HOME, but maybe now that she's sick in the hospital, her condition has deteriorated and so her settings need to be adjusted?

The professionals are literally trying to help your child get the oxygen she needs. I'm sure they were listening to the parents and tried to communicate why the changes were necessary (e.g. her blood gases showed alkalosis or acidosis, she was breathing too fast or too slow, she needed better lung recruitment, etc.) but the parents are so adversarial they're not listening to any of it.

In my experience with vented patients in the hospital, the settings are adjusted every couple hours based on blood gases and general respiratory effort. It's like a constant tinkering as we try to get the lungs and kidneys in homeostasis. Most families are happy to step back and let us do our job because they realize we're all on the same fucking page.

A two year old rolling off a bed is not an uncommon occurrence, but it usually results in a little bump on the head and few tears if anything - not broken neck /death. Toddlers are engineered for falls and tumbles.

Not power leveling but my youngest was asleep on my chest in bed and rolled off onto the floor as an infant.
The baby was very rudely woke up and was pissed off but she was fine.
This kid had injuries one sustains from much more violent means.

I knew they were LDS. I’d bet the kid got the shit shaken out of him or grabbed by his head in a fit of rage. If the parents are LDS in good standing they don’t ask many questions. No way that kid had a fatal head or neck injury from falling out of a bed.

I never understood how Eva Love managed to get such a catastrophic brain injury falling out of a golf cart. But even that is more plausible than a baby sustaining fatal injuries tumbling off a bed.

Our sweet little 1 1/2 year old nephew fell yesterday while playing and hit his head. This small fall caused his breathing and heart to stop. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where they were able to help his breathing and heart. He was stabilized enough to be life flighted to Children’s hospital. He is in the PICU (pediatric ICU) in critical condition and in a coma, fighting so hard for his life.

Unfortunately this sweet family does not have health insurance at this time and the medical bills are the last thing his amazing parents need to worry about right now.

I know everyone says the this about their families, but I can sincerly say with every part of me that they are the very best people you could ever meet. They would do anything and everything they could to help anyone they could. No parent should have to go through this and we ask at this time to give back to a family who would truly be the first to give.

Our little Royce is not only our nephew but truly our most very best friend in the whole world. We can’t even describe the pain we feel. It does not feel real. He is the most sweet, loving, funny, perfect little special soul. We love him beyond words. We know he is a little fighter and we believe in him!

Please if you can, even if it’s only a few dollars please help my sweet brother and sister in law. If you aren’t able to donate, more importantly we need prayers at this time for little Roycey. We know there is great power in prayer and Our Father in Heaven can truly perform miracles.

Cannot use the quote function but 1. I believe Eva had an aneurysm or something before falling out of the cart. They've never clarified but I believe her "injury" was before the fall, not after— it's what caused her to fall out. She's the one that depresses me the most because she was a totally normal child before that, even if her family is a bunch of fundie creeps.
