8 People Dead and others hospitalized at Travis Scotts Astroworld festival

The part about someone freaking out and stabbing other people with a syringe is interesting. Authorities mentioned one of the guards had passed out and they had to inject narcan into him to revive him.

Lawsuits will be incoming. That was a piss poor security checkpoint to let everyone bull rush like that. Plus, from reports the basic medic and first aid stuff was sorely understaffed and unprepared. Probably one of the biggest logistical nightmares since the Fyre Festival incident.
Fyre Festival was an outright scam that got the guy sentenced to prison. Unfortunately Travis Scott won't go to jail despite being a horrible human being, making terrible music, and raping the name of a beloved defunct theme park (formerly across the freeway from the event) for some bullshit.

From what I've read, he claims he was pricked and immediately passed out. There are no drugs that do this: even a fatal dose of fentanyl needs to circulate through the body before you lose consciousness. The fact that they administered narcan before he regained consciousness doesn't mean much.

I think what probably happened is that he got crushed along with other people, passed out due to oxygen deprivation, then came to after they pulled him out of there.

I don't want to recklessly speculate very much but, you think perhaps canceling this thing over COVID in 2020 made people just THAT more determined to get there? And THAT more determined to just vault a fence or step on another human being when unsubstantiated word possibly filters through the crowd that "I heard they aren't gonna let us in" ? or "We gotta get in there before they say we can't start the show without masks!" ?

Congrats, CDC, 8 new COVID deaths!

There's a "spiked by injection" urban legend/scare going round the UK right now propagated by TikTok so it's probably part of that.

Nobody believes it except for the zoomer feminist freshers who need an excuse for why they got too drunk. Even Reddit, Vice, etc don't believe it:

The writer of that article said she got hate on TikTok for putting science first and not "believing women".

Then it mutated into saying people were being infected with HIV (a classic urban legend that comes up once a decade) and some HIV organisation had to release a statement pointing out that it takes weeks for a test to come back positive so even if it was happening it couldn't be confirmed the next day like TikTok insists.

Yeah I think the injection thing is just a way for organizers to muddy the waters in regard to what actually happened. Security is where a lot of things failed so I don't really believe anything that's coming from them.

What I'm hearing is that the crowd is usually 50k but they doubled it to 100k this year, plus however many non ticket holders who snuck in due to piss poor security. Not hard to see how that would turn into a crush situation, even without Travis Scott egging on the crowd, which he definitely did.

I'm sure it also has something to do with the fact that people think movies are real.

The deterioration of current society can only be truly understood when you realize I sit here today actually PINING for the days I'd have to clean my email inbox of well-meaning but clueless friends sending me warnings about how they heard from a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy that someone caught AIDS from poisoned needles hidden in candy bars or taped to doorhandles......

The good ol' days.....

Wouldn't fucking doubt it, that asswipe Derek "Ion" Almena and his wife and kids were at a hotel the night the Ghost Ship fire happened in Oakland.

I did a deep dive into that a while ago, they were very into fire symbolism and eastern mysticism. They were also big Burners. They often did fire dances in that decrepit flea-market warehouse. There's some videos out there if you search his name and Burning Man. I think that particular instance could very well have been some sort of sacrifice myself - ESPECIALLY because those two were suspiciously absent the entire evening.

Idk man I've been in probably 40+ mosh pits over the last decade and in pretty much every one the second someone so much as stumbles he's hauled up by his collar and pushed away from the pit to safety. Usually by the biggest dude in the mosh.
Maybe at the really big festivals that's more of a problem, but metalheads are usually pretty vigilant about having the pit be a good time
Yeah, mosh pits tend to be fairly safe... ish. You might get winded or punched in the eye, but you won't be seriously injured, as people tend to be cognizant of the danger, everyone around you has full situational awareness, and if something happens there's at least ten people ready to pick you up and make sure you're not dead.

Oddly enough, the meaner pits (the ones with hardcore kids throwing roundhouse kicks everywhere) tend to be the safest, while the nicer pits (younger kids bouncing around, playing bumper cars with each other, sometimes just running in circles) tend to be more dangerous, because the mean pits have a lot more open space than nice ones do, and situational awareness improves exponentially when a drunk skinhead is performing kung fu routines a couple feet from your face.

The worst place to be in a metal/rock concert, by far, is next to the stage. That's where you get the risk of crushing, especially when pits open up behind you - and while it almost never gets to the point where people are in serious trouble (if someone's starting to have issues, people in front are close to security, so it's easy to get them out), you are almost certain to spend the next hour or two getting dry humped by a fat man wearing a Dream Theater shirt. A fate worse than death.

Crowds are mindless, and people in one part of a crowd can affect what's going on in another part, without ever knowing what's going on; the pressure you're putting on your neighbour's back could be crushing someone to death thirty feet away, and you'll never know it, because you're too worried about the fat fucks trying to trample you. And when a critical mass of attendees are completely oblivious to danger - like those dumb faggots dancing on top of the EMT cars, thinking hey! We're at a Travis Scott show! It's all just one big party! - that's when things fall apart.

tl;dr the heightened situational awareness, and shared knowledge of ethical responsibility that comes from consciously placing oneself in a dangerous situation, is really what makes metal concerts safer, I think.

In fairness, there was a moment where he stopped his performance.

Then the moment passed, and he started up again.

I wonder how soon this will be ignored by the news media or perhaps will they find a White fall guy that ran the logistics / security.
It is their fault. Putting 100k on the flat floor uncontrolled is extremely reckless. There would have been huge problems doing this at a Barry Manilow concert let alone with a rowdy younger audience.

I want to know what kind of fucking retarded white parents would send their 14 year old child to a Travis Scott concert. The reason Gen Z is so retarded is because the parents let their kids listen to this “music.” Idk how someone calls it rap, it’s literally nigger music. This kid’s mom ruined the laughs I was getting from this article from the 2nd pic. Like what the actual fuck is that creatura. That’s early 20’s…

tell me about it. I was raised by atheist degenerates and they wouldn't even let me listen to rap music growing up. poor little me had to listen to Rachmaninoff and The Flaming Lips with my parents. but my mom hated rap music (she's hyper liberal too)

Reason I say this, is the one side is hyper conservative, hyper Catholic, hyper Christian religious. And they're all real moralistic and traditionalist about it. Big time Republican voters. But the crazy thing is, I go up there and they're all listening to Cardi B and all this degenerate dogshit and the parents just seem to think because it's on the radio that it's the "social norm" and there's no regulation or even thinking about it. It's bewildering to me. You'd think people who were Christian might recognize and be concerned with the sheer level of moral decay that we're witnessing in our culture right now but there's hardly a peep. Makes you realize most of these people who go to Church are completely full of shit and don't give a fuck about morality any more than anyone else.

The thought that I'll have to bring my children into a world where they'll be inside of a society/culture that pressures them into accepting this kind of cultural filth, and where this is viewed as "mainstream" is very disturbing to me.

People often say in response, "well ACDC and The Who were degenerates too!" And maybe that's true. I tend to think their music at least has some level of aesthetic value, compared to this shite. But still, I think that this modern music has crossed beyond mere "transgression" into something just completely devoid of any value to civilization. It's not rebellious or revolutionary. It's not the kind of social transgression that liberates your mind and your soul, like the best of rock music, or even rave music. This modern cultural product of Cardi B and Travis Scott is just worthless, grey colored, soulless, borderline demonic nihilism that promotes the absolute worst variety of mindless materialistic ignorance and barbarism. It's not "cool" - at least I don't think so. It's completely alienating and colorless and makes the world a more dreary place to live in.

This kind of cultural product should be the kind of thing that spurs Americans toward some kind of radical self-preservation reaction to basically defend our civilization. But instead I see these aforementioned "Catholics" mindlessly acting like it's just business as usual. I really don't understand it.

I don’t even pay attention to what’s in the music, I just don’t understand what the fuck current day music is. There’s no good sound, no good beat, just a bunch of weird shit. Like EDM is good, some current pop stuff is decent, but this new nigger rap music is shit. Like this song here is a perfect example of it. Only reason it has a beat is because it literally ripped off previous ones. I love the self-snitching too, shows how stupid nigs are.

You folks need to get off your high-horse. Yes, the music is trash. But rowdy youth audiences have always been a handful. Look up the chaos of the Use Your Illusion Tour. We have sorta forgotten how these things go because current acts have moved away from live performances. Up through the 90's gigantic insane concert tours were the norm.

This is why this is such a tragedy, the promoters got complacent.

I worked security for the last astro world concert, that one was also a fucking shit show

Travis actively encouraging people to riot and jump the fence, me and the other security actively fighting off people and dragging unconscious people from tbe crowds after they got crushed like a tube of toothpaste against the guard rail.

This festival is the sole fucking reason I quit being security.

fuck Travis, I hope he and the organizers get sued into oblivion.

I hope they get criminally charged, this is like Alec Baldwin levels of negligence.
