While the price of commodities and shipping may be dropping a bit this is a reflection of what is going on right now as it processes the glut of produced material, also you didn't display in log. The big thing that needs to be watched is the declining situation in China. We're seeing vague reports of "food issues" and "energy issues" at the same time which is a civilization breaking issue, the energy issues are causing factory shut downs which will snarl everything downstream in a few months. The food issues will cause widespread dissension, also we have Xi apparently manuevering to become leader for life, something that is a sign of weakness not strength, if Xi needs to formalize this kind of thing it shows he has rivals below him that are gaining power.

Also Biden seems to be purposefully killing the oil market, he plans on shutting down another pipeline: Article | Archive At this point you have to question whether or not Biden's administration is actively sabotaging the country because only a fucking moron would continue closing down pipelines when oil prices are high and no relief is coming. Biden seems to be intentionally putting the US back under OPEC control.

I'm sorry but SAVING THE WORLD is more important than your white privileged means of transportation...

There is "The Baltic Dry Index". A price index for dry bulk shipping stock and it is already dropping hard. So at least here one can expect some improvements for the future. This says not much about the following distribution though, but it is way lower than it was in 2007/2008. There the index hit above 10,000.
Dry bulk freight isn't the problem. It has been and continues to be container freight. FBX01 is the index for FEU from east asia to the west coast. Spots for the first day of the last 5 months:
01 Jul$6407
01 Aug$19237
01 Sep$19079
01 Oct$16152
01 Nov$18730
Not real encouraging.

to be fair the kids were varsity athletes too, think about all the gatorade you drank as a kid and replace it with milk. i know i'd chug the larger monsters at least once a day back then, thats a quart right?
Milk fucks up with breathing if you drink too much, don't really think varsity athletes would chug milk, specially since you just need like a couple glasses a week

FDA reports 100+ drug shortages nationwide and here's why that's a GOOD thing!
Original if you want to watch the embedded video in it.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Recent supply chain disruptions are impacting everything from clothes to food, and even trips to the pharmacy. Popular drugs like Adderall, oxycodone, and insulin are running low nationwide.

In Tennessee, Steve Beasley said he’s having trouble finding iron dextran for his iron infusions. “I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place right now – none of the pharmacies around here can get it where they can compound it in-house.”

The FDA currently lists 112 drug shortages on its website. The reasons for the backlogs all vary.

“Some of the companies have discontinued making [iron dextran] for whatever reason,” Beasley said. “I don’t know, it just says manufacturing delays.”

ing drug Narcan is being impacted too, with Pfizer’s website listing the availability of its injectable naloxone formulation as depleted. “A big reason there is a shortage – Pfizer had a manufacturing issue toward the beginning of the year,” Tara Schiller, CEO of SoberBuddy, said.

One group impacted by the shortage is the Opioid Safety and Supply Network (OSSN) Buyer’s Club. The group is the largest source of naloxone distribution directly to affected communities, accounting for 1.3 million doses in 2020 alone.

The OSNN Buyers Club stated they have an exclusive arrangement with Pfizer for the low-cost generic injectable. While there is not a widespread shortage of the product itself, the shortage specifically affects the group of programs. As of August 2021, OSNN Buyers Club programs are back-ordered by over a quarter-million doses of naloxone.

This shortage issue is creating a “perfect storm” scenario where overdoses are sky-rocketing, but access to life-saving medication is plummeting, said Schiller. “This group distributes in areas where there is no government infrastructure in purchasing naloxone.”

Do I get a prize for predicting insulin shortages?

Well there's no shortage of those spamming fuckers who keep calling me about my "extended warranty". Last week I took my VW to the dealer to replace an odd part the reg mechanic could not do. The lot was nearly empty. As with most dealers I noticed while driving. I asked the service manager what was causing this. He said the computer chips were made over in Asia. Most other parts are fine as they come from the US, Mexico or Europe. So maintenance should be fine.

Imagine needing a starter, brake pads or battery come February? And none to be found.

CEO says Volkswagen has 'seen the worst' of the chip shortage

Apparently he thinks the Global Supply Chain will ease soon.

I'm starting to get worried. Knowing that the majority population here all shop at the same big chains (which have been having supply problems), I keyed into shopping at the ethnic markets long ago for their better quality, availability, and price. Well, my local Asian market had probably 25% empty shelves when I was there this weekend, with either no idea or "in two weeks" (where have we heard that before?) response to when basic staples would be restocked. Prices are still good, though--everybody else has prices going up and the government warning that they will go up more this month.

Why the hell is diet cola so hard to come by in the American Midwest right now? There are other sodas, but not diet cola.
Are there ships full of aspartame and caramel coloring floating aimlessly out there?
Same thing in France. My understanding is that it isn't the ingredients, but a shortage in the materials for the packaging, and so Coca-Cola (similar to other big companies that have lots of product lines) is concentrating its efforts in keeping its best-sellers (Coke and Coke Zero) on the shelves. I found our version of diet coke at a "wholesaler to the public" joint and had 800 of the little bottles delivered a few months ago. Do places like that exist in the Midwest?

If you haven't already purchased (and I don't know the price differential), you might want to look into an upright freezer, if that's a thing in America. I bought a chest freezer during Lockdown #1 and although I am glad to have it, organization is a PAIN IN THE ASS because you've basically just got a big pile of food and you do forget what's at the bottom. My next purchase
if I ever get paid again, which hasn't happened in 2 months
is going to be an upright freezer (looks like a fridge but the whole thing is a freezer) so that I can just use the chest freezer for meat and have the other stuff better organized and accessible. Plus it takes up half the floor space.

edited to add: SHIT. I didn't realize that apparently I'm the only person awake right now. Sorry for the fucking annoying 3 posts in a row.

Get a bunch of Aldi reusable shopping bags and use them to organise and split the load. The plasticised ones of possible.
