EDIT: if any of y'all ever get into legal trouble, DO NOT accept a public defender and DO NOT accept any attorney who mails you a letter within a week after you get arrested. Mortgage your house if you have to.

There are things to scrimp on. Defense attorneys--like sushi--are not among them.
