Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

I'd say after Fallout 4 and 76 Fallout is pretty close to dead. I doubt we'll ever get a new fallout on the level of Fallout New Vegas or even Fallout 3.
I think Bethesda has written itself into a corner with 4. They cant just say none of the endings are canon like they did with NV because the brotherhood is killed off in most of them and we know bethesda loves the east coast brotherhood too much to let them go. But if the brotherhood canonically won then they are letting go of all the new characters they introduced in 4 like the railroad. And while this may be politsperging I doubt it would sit well with bethesda to kill off a bunch of diverse freedom fighters liberating the synths, who are basically slaves.

Personally I cant stand the brotherhood or the railroad. But bethesda loves both too much to kill off either. Which is probably why they made 76 a prequel.

Not to mention both Fallout 4 and 76 are really shitty RPG's, but maybe that's me being old and yelling at clouds again, I think 4 was the series starting to flat-line and 76 was the final breath.

On thread topic I really want Dino Crisis to make a comeback, I'd love to see it re-imagined in the RE Engine.

I heard that Capcom is remastering the DC series, but it's not clear if they'll just do the bare minimum with slightly prettied up graphics or go whole hog like they did with the RE2 and 3 remakes.

For some fucking reason I can’t find a picture of it’s box art on the entire internet or in my images, so fortunately I’ve found a visual representation for how repugnant the game I’m talking about is. The Jak game I’m talking about is “Jak and daxter 4”, and it’s for the PS2. It’s not made by naughty dog, and goes full exceptional individual with the story. So much so that it not only centers around our crew searching for the edge of the world (a concept so exceptional it’s played up for a joke in modern media) and a dark eco shortage, which lore-wise is the equivalent of saying there’s a dark matter shortage.
Wasn't The Lost Frontier on the PSP? I thought it came out later tha-

Wait what the fuck? This game came out in 2009, three years into the PS3 life cycle. Why the fuck did they put it on the PS2?!

I never played it but everything you said lines up with what I've heard. I'm pretty sure people collectively decided to forget this game existed because it sucked.

Ico/Shadow of the Colossus. I’ve never been as sad to reach the end of a game as I was when playing those.

I would love for Capcom to revitalise the Onimusha series as they did with RE2/RE3. Sadly, I hear the re-release of Onimusha: Warlords on Steam did not sell well, so not bloody likely.

Even more unlikely is a return to the Panzer Dragoon series on Sega Saturn. Panzer Dragoon Saga is a magical experience which was denied to most gamers. Considering Sega/Team Andromeda have lost the PDS source code, I won’t be holding my breath.

Not gonna lie, I kinda wish they'd bring back Gex but only if they play the trademark campy 90's attitude completely straight and without any irony, snark, or pretentiousness.
I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for Gex 2. Might not be the best platformer, but it had a ton of charm.

Have you played The Last Guardian? Fantastic game.

But yeah, I love Ueda’s work in general. Hard to believe ICO turned 20 recently.

I'd love a remaster of the Mother trilogy, since Mother 1 hasn't visually aged too well, and Mother 3 hasn't even been officially released outside of Japan.
That being said, I'd rather not have the series be brought back into the limelight nowadays. Mostly because the series would get completely infested by twitter troons and fujos, and the localization team would probably butcher Mother 3 if their recent translation jobs are anything to go by.

I also wish they'd do a remaster of the Ape Escape trilogy in the same way they did for Crash and Spyro, but considering the sort of games Sony makes now, it's unlikely they'll ever touch the series for the forseeable future.

I would love to see Valkyrie Profile or the PS2 Shinobi get another go. VP was an amazing rpg with the best combat system I've played outside LoD. Shinobi was a great action game with alot of style that could use some polish to make it baller and nightshade was a step back for it. Lastly I would love a JSRF re-release but Sega hates money and the spiritual successor is vaporware atm.

We need another F.E.A.R game. That was such an incredible blend of action/horror I rarely see these days

2 in particular was amazing at how fucked up it could get.

They could very EASILY continue the franchise with another good concept and go all in on psi ops operations.

I wish we'd get a Dead rising in the style of the first game. I enjoyed the second one and the third one was ok on its own but 4 was shit. It's honestly kind of good the series died when it did, though, the fifth game sounded like it was going to be a shitty assassins creed knockoff.

I'd honestly like one with the flourish and general tone of 1 but with some of the quality of life features that 2 introduced (better survivor AI and FUCKING STRAFING)

4 wasn't just shit, it was INSULTING. There's a couple of really good docu's on Youtube about the how and why it was the clusterfuck it was.

And yea, at least with 5 someone remembered Pet Sematary; dead is better.

Anyway, another Capcom franchise I will never let go; Onimusha. Nioh filled the gap for a while, but I still miss it.

Parappa the Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy. I have a feeling that the commercial flop of Major Minor's Majestic March might be part of the reason they haven't made any more games, but I'd love to see another Parappa and/or Lammy adventure.

Not sure if this counts, but Starcraft. Yes yes I know Blizzard is still technically supporting it, but it's pretty clear they're not going to release anything for it that isn't minor cosmetics, co-op bullshit or balance changes so they can jerk off their South Korean professional gaming spergs. I want my space rednecks back, goddamnit!
