Open worlds will always be shallow since filling it with shit to do would take years. They're more for aesthetic and atmosphere, something From Soft already excels at. I do appreciate the horsey thoughA consistent criticism seems to be that the open world is kind of shallow, and doesn't add anything except scale. That's hardly unsurprising though.

How long is this? DS 1-3 had about ten hour campaigns not including DLC or grinding. I'm seeing YouTube who are putting twenty/thirty hours into just the opening areas.
A bunch of people have early access to the network test. The game isn't even out..is there a leak?

If GRRM had any say in the matter instead of feet it'd be medieval feasts shown though.
I watched a half-hour video from the closed test and luckily this appears to be bullshit.A consistent criticism seems to be that the open world is kind of shallow, and doesn't add anything except scale. That's hardly unsurprising though.
Apparently the corner of the map that's open in the network test has a good 8 hours of stuff alone. I haven't properly checked but it seemed like that was only a third or maybe a quarter of the world. This is my one worry. Dark Souls has always been about replayability, and multiple playthroughs (or NGs) are the way to truly build your character to his max potential and explore beyond what you have in the past.
