Elden Ring

How long is this? DS 1-3 had about ten hour campaigns not including DLC or grinding. I'm seeing YouTube who are putting twenty/thirty hours into just the opening areas.

A consistent criticism seems to be that the open world is kind of shallow, and doesn't add anything except scale. That's hardly unsurprising though.

The game isn't even out..is there a leak?

So whats different about this game that has everyone jizzing over it? I watched the game play reveal and if you didn't tell me the name, I'd think it was dark souls 4.

Boss fight from the network test. WARNING: AUDIO IS LOUD!

We Dark Souls 4.

I'm hoping sorceries and magic in general are more viable in this game than the previous souls games. From what I've seen most of the spells they've shown off have been recycled from Dark Souls 3 (Which itself had spells recycled from Dark Souls 2, and 1), albeit with higher quality effects. The mount mobility seems to give the player a ton of leverage when it comes to running around like crazy while casting spells.

This is my one worry. Dark Souls has always been about replayability, and multiple playthroughs (or NGs) are the way to truly build your character to his max potential and explore beyond what you have in the past.

I'm not seeing any barefooted damsels in this game. Was both George RR Martin and Miyazaki forced to tone such things for corporate sensibilities.

I watched a half-hour video from the closed test and luckily this appears to be bullshit.

That was the fear and obviously people will parrot it regardless, but it seems like the world is dense as hell with stuff to find everywhere, and none of it is generic. No collecting numbered orbs or clearing out outposts; every item and hidden dungeon is unique, ruins aren't copy-pasted, and there's distinct overworld bosses all over the place.

Apparently the corner of the map that's open in the network test has a good 8 hours of stuff alone. I haven't properly checked but it seemed like that was only a third or maybe a quarter of the world.

Everyone snarkily calling this “open-world Dark Souls” as if that doesn’t sound like just about the greatest fucking premise for any game ever made.

Big Dark Souls is everything I’ve ever wanted in a game and anyone who disagrees needs to git gud.
