I'm getting cyberpunk deja vu...
IDK why, but I have the strangest inkling that part of the reason why they pulled the games is due to how GSG left every file open for all to see.
R* are autistically zealous with their work and GSG gave modders the keys to the kingdom, and that's on top of how friendly UE is towards file editing.

Wouldn't be surprised if the re-release encrypts the files or converts them all to some new proprietary extensions that'll take the community a while to open.

Again, just a small idea in my head given how R* has always had disdain for the modding community, even when they pretended to like them in 02-06.

Speaking of which,
it appears that old mods that uses the animations file or any data folder file works in DE just fine.

GSG also released San Andreas with the uncompiled main.sc (which is the main file where most of the game and mission scripting is), thus leaving the original devs comments on it.
For example:

It's totally, you can't unfuck something like that.

I'm glad this is a disaster because I'm genuinely fucking tired of game companies double/triple/quadruple dipping with "Remasters". It's especially egregious in this case because every major console except the Switch (as far as I know) already had perfectly playable versions of all these games.
I don't have a problem with remasters, I think of it more like re-releasing a movie on various home video formats.

It's gay when a game is stuck on older hardware that will only increasingly over time be inaccessible, it's also gay when a game goes out of print, so many PS2 and GameCube games now cost hundreds of dollars.

A remaster is only a problem when they fuck it up.

Or you could always just...emulate

Welp, that's Games as a Service for ya.

I'm actually glad that I still have my cracked, first release, version of GTA V. Even if I own a legit copy of it. At least I can play that game when I have no internet and especially without all of the online updates crap which simply clutters my HDD space.

So, the Rockstar Games Launcher is down.

Even worse, games that rely on RGL cannot start. Even single player games.

I think R* just hates PC gamers. First the botched IV launch, GTA Online hackers, removing the original trilogy from storefronts, now THIS.
Don't you ever just wish you could beat these corporate nerds up? Ruin their pocket protectors? Man, how has Rockstar gotten this bad?

Was Candy Suxx always meant to be.....Mae West sized? She gained weight from the picture I saw but in other images from throughout the years she's bigger than she was in the original game?

I'm gonna wait and see how the physical editions go. I saw Call Me Kevin's stream and it looks pretty fun. Yes more effort can be put into the character models and there's some bugs to sort out obviously but hey, it ain't Cyberpunk level disaster.

This is why I say I'm old. I'll never understand the obsession with a number next to your name. But if it's worth it for you then I guess have fun?
Sony players always liked platinum their games to say that they did it.
how friendly UE is towards file editing.
From what i can see this build is actually nice to mod in, UE4 and mod friendliness don't mix well depending on the build, hopefully all grove did was copy paste the codes and model namings so modding will be an even sweeter piece of cake.

No one besides the artistes know why candy suxx is candy orangutan.
Why haven't modders from the GTA 3D era get hired positions?
They do it for free, why pay them? only a few modders get paid because T2 and R* want to avoid a PR nightmare and i'm with whoever said that they pulled the game from the store because it has the sauces rather than incompatiblity.

Yeah, but there's always the issue of emulation accuracy. Since nobody really has the source code for the consoles and it all has to be reverse engineered, theres guess work, and that can lead to weird glitches/results. Also, sometimes I just really like a company and what they've done with a project and want them to know that so they might take the hint and make more.

Because they're all problematic racists that liked violent video games where you can murder women.

Looks like someone datamined the Switch version and found not only the mission scripts as seen in the PC release, but stuff related to scripts, text, and internal tools.

At this rate the community will be able to make their own GTA Definitive Edition...
(If Rockstar doesn't strike them down for one-upping them)

I’ve finally acquired a PS4 Camera! Hope you join my livestreams for some “Earth Shattering Kabooms!” and some “Back to the Future Boosts.”
