Both sides are fighting for freedom, to not be oppressed by a force willing to destroy them or curtail their freedoms. Everyone has a common ground, it's just how that common ground is communicated and understood by both parties. Unfortunately, you're right, it will never happen because 'the media' or whoever the fuck, purposely distorts that communication, so that neither side ever see the true story and thus cannot find the common ground.
