It lives rent free in modern western developers heads, almost everything they do is to distance themselves from the perceived "Gamer Gate" type of gamers, like the Saints Row reboot.

Honestly with my backlog of games, I have enough to last me the rest of my life even if the industry crashes and burns. Plus there are people who make games out of love and some even distribute them for free. There is Ib, Yume Nikki, the original Witches House, among many others.

The likes of Rockstar need us more than we need them. Although, it is disappointing the direction of the mainstream industry since they are capable of putting out decent shit.

This "remaster" is astonishingly poor. The only way I can tell it's an actual official product and not some indian/chinese bootleg on the android store is the lack of copyright infringing material and desparate attempts to mimic popular fads.

This is who they hire to work on video games in 2021. What a gamer.

I won't pretend she played some massive role but the fact that people like this are even employed in the gaming industry is a massive issue. But that's diversity hires for you. Doesn't matter who's best for the job or who has the passion for gaming, just a wayward group of feckless box tickers and quota numbers.

The future always lies in those indies, those have souls. Well, at least until they either become big enough to become one of the big boys and embrace their retardation or get bought out by the big boys (see every studio bought by EA).

No matter how good a studio is, when they get too big they become corporate - bloated and disconnected from their customers. The more the OG team leaves the more the soul gets sapped away until corporate is all that is left.

When you see a studio become massively successful, start letting go your attachment. If it doesn't turn corporate it will probably get bought out by corporate. They don't care about creativity and the art, they are motivated by profit.

Rockstar is still with us, but the soul is gone.
