They have managed to create the judicial version of Namek. Maybe we'll see the Schroeder come around again to argue about drone footage in 5 episodes or so

Rosenbaum does sound a bit like Zarbon

Hmm, if I was on the jury I would wait until the sun sets on Friday to give out a not guilty verdict. It would be perfect for a riot.

It’s dark. It’s the weekend. Christmas is next month and every needs some extra loot to put under the tree.
Of all the reasons for the jury to still be deliberating, "they want their own homes and businesses to burn" seems less likely.

If you read the original complaint, it was clear nobody in that office wanted to bring it. From that document alone I'm speculating the plan might have been to use the Grand Jury to drop the case.

When a DA doesn't want to bring a case to trial but wants to act like they gave it a go they will take it to the Grand Jury, which is secret and out of the public eye. Away from the media they then totally botch it on purpose so the GJ fails to bring any charges. Later, when reporters ask it's "we just didn't have enough to sustain charges under the law, we totally tried super hard, trust me bro" which sidesteps the baggage of declining to charge. After all, you can indict a ham sandwich so it's just as easy to make sure the charges don't stick.

Binger being Binger, though, he decided to fraud his way to trial.
Binger saw this case as his ticket to fame and fortune. Being a prosecutor (and thus corrupt to his core), that's all that mattered. Given his rather obvious autism, I think he's going to put 2 and 2 together, come up with 5, and decide that a second trial will be what finally puts him over the top.

So is Barnes a scumbag or not for trying to change defense counsel?
No, he's a scumbag for publicly admitting that is what he was trying to do and not having any faith in Richards et al despite praising them while he was still working with them.
How can it be his fault that Kyle's defense sucks if you think he's in the wrong for trying to replace them.
Because I'd argue that if Barnes was as smart as he says, he'd have not got himself kicked and would have been able to convince them to use his resources.
Given the current state of the case I think Kyle could've used better representation, it doesn't need to be Barnes.
Since the problem with the case was going to always be the Jury, finding a team that knows how to do that right can be hard. And by the time that came up, it was too late.
