IIRC Kev's deathly afraid of guns and loud noises in general so he isn't going to touch any firearm.

Its not a ballistic knife since it doesn't launch the blade like a projectile, hence the ballistic part of the name. The picture I've attached is an example of such a knife. What Josie has is some sort of auto knife that the blade extends in and out of the handle, which is legal in Colorado from what I can tell from a quick search.

Okay so "projected from the handle" means the blade detaches from the handle rather than the blade just ejecting itself from the handle (but remaining connected) via a spring. Got it.

I knew Colorado was pretty lenient with their weapons statute so I had a feeling I might be wrong. Thank you for the clarification!
