Exactly. You simply don't assume that someone's going to plow into your parade intentionally with a stolen SUV for petty reasons. You have literal thousands of parades every year over a place as large as the US and this kind of shit pretty much never happens. Accidents with cars hitting parades are usually senior citizens being too senile to operate their cars, shit that usually can be taken care of by police cordoning off the area with soft barriers and lights to stop those senile morons before they become a problemNo? Like, this is the sort of thing you just put basic barriers around for route control, with the occasional cop to direct traffic and keep an eye on things. I talked about how they’d set things up earlier in the thread, it’s not going to be too heavy on cops because there’s very little reason to chuck a bunch of cops on the street there.
You don't seal off a random christmas parade in bumfuck Wisconsin like it had the Pope, Hillary Clinton and the CEO of Nestlé in an open convertible doing circles right beneath the local school book depository as main attraction.
Generally parades go down major roads and those get blocked off tightly at the front and back, while sideroads just get a cop or two with signalling disks.
At least that's what I've seen in the past.
