Here in the American Midwest I can't find gluten free stuffing.

Thanksgiving is on Thursday! My whole entire existance will have been for nothing if I can't have this one meal on this one day be perfect!!!

...oh wait I don't care.

I like having stuffing on Thanksgiving but I'm not going online to only be able to find one brand that I've never tried before that costs $15 a box, especially since I'm the only one that needs gluten free stuff anyway. Aldi was out, Kroger was out... I'll just make seasoned rice instead.
Can you find some gluten free bread? It’s almost as easy to make it from stale (or even slightly toasted) chunks of bread. Nobody deserves to go without the best Thanksgiving side dishes, we don’t have to live like refugees just yet

This reminded me to check my bread stash in the freezer. I should get more, since leftovers make awesome sammiches.

I've decided to just learn to make my own bread. I don't want to waste space freezing bread. I'd rather save the space for stuff I can't make like meat. And leaving a bit of space to store my cat if he should die at an inopportune time. You gotta plan for contingencies.

Damn straight.

If the women don't find you hansome, they should at least find you handy.

Make your own retard. It’s a God damn piece of cake (literally).

Are Americans so inept that they can’t even make their own stuffing? It’s stuffing. It came about from leftover junk you use to help a bird keep its shape and give it flavor. Gluten free? Use gluten free bread.

As a generalization - Yes. I know friends in their late twenties who still primarily subsist on microwave dinners, and cannot even cook a porkchop. I don't mean some fancy glazed thing with garnishes and a side. I mean a salted chop, put in a pan, they can't even handle that. Its almost impressive in a way how inept people manage to be at fundamental basics of living like that.

That almost sounds like effort might be involved! 😱

I know how to make stuffing, I just wanted to bitch about not finding any premade mix, which honestly isn't that much easier than seasoning and toasting some breadcrumbs.

Drug, feed ingredient shortages hit U.S. livestock producers

I am here to say this is true and it suuuuuucks so bad. I dropped by the feed store earlier and what little they had in the way of chicken feed was 50% more expensive than a month ago. Interestingly, most of the cat and dog food had 'Made in the USA' markings on it, and I would swear that included some brands I thought were made in China. I'm starting to wonder if China isn't making pet food anymore and that's why the shortages are so bad.

Didn't they move a bunch of pet food manufacture out of China because of several incidents of China quality pet food loaded with wonderful chemicals that found its way to the West and killed a bunch of pets and livestock?

Plus it would be cannibalism to feed your dog or cat chinese food.

Yes. There was a big market shift in the early 2010's when several pets died because several producers from China were sending out garbage or effective poison. It was very similar to the baby formula case, but people weren't put to death or jailed for it.

Just like toilet paper, most pet food is produced domestically now.

It’s one of the reasons I recommend Purina to everyone. They actually make all there food here. The toilet paper speaks more to general lumber products which are mostly produced in North America for North America. Most of it comes from either the Pacific Northwest (US and Canukistan) or the Southeast US.

Turns out the Chinese are not very good at forest management. Who could have seen that coming???

The Chinese have stopped exporting pet food as their population is now eating it themselves.
