What brought this on? I noticed they appeared after Halloween or were they there before the Halloween decorations. He's slowly adding stuff. It was originally just the boxes.

Then the fallout stuff and pixel characters from street fighter.

He never did this for a long time with the childish stuff. Did I miss something or is it because of his waning viewership and support?

@actually has said it pretty succinctly: without the support of a few whales who have successfully hidden their true identity (rather poorly I should add), Phil would be dead in the water. Although his income has remained steady, it is not increasing enough to indicate an upward trajectory but has plateaued. Given his stature as a content creator and his awful reputation, Phil will never be a big YTer again or ever enjoy the success he’s had in his early content creation days. Hence why he clings to these glory days so frequently and leans on them so heavily to justify his overall raison d’etre.

It'd be almost sad if it weren't for Phil's asshole attitude and behaviour towards his remaining fans and hangers-on. Any rational person can see that abusing your audience time and time again will only result in further isolation and less goodwill. Though seeing as Phil has the uncanny ability to find the densest of dentheads as fans, that "goodwill" will still remain a constant, though its prevalence will inevitably dwindle.

Remember: it's not begging, it's advertisement/business.

We've never heard this kind of story before...Asked if he could do a chess stream for the members goal and of course he hasn't played in a long time and might not be that good anymore or there's "things I may not know about". It's chess, Phil. The rules haven't significantly changed in hundreds of years. Love how quickly he bails the second he's called out on his bullshit story.

When you think about it, any large tip (5+ dollars in my opinion) tends to be from a whale. And that's because a normal person has no reason to tip large amounts when a small amount is enough to catch Phil's attention.

"I need a refresher on how to play chess" is up there with "I forgot how to walk", it's not something you forget lol, especially after he bragged about his chess power level about how he was unbeatable in Chess Club save for his teacher. Maybe it was him and a Derich.

It could just be that I'm a Yakuza/RGG sperg; but outside of the final level of the batting cages, the pitches are the same in order, every time. Phil could take a moment to memorize or write down how the pitches come at him, and he could easily get it down. Come on Phil, at least notice there's a pattern.
