That's ridiculous. You can't keep a mainland Chinese as a pet, they're docile but they turn wherever they live into an unspeakably polluted wasteland. China needs some better pets.
They're working on that. Trust me.

You could just make your own dog food.Drug, feed ingredient shortages hit U.S. livestock producers
I am here to say this is true and it suuuuuucks so bad. I dropped by the feed store earlier and what little they had in the way of chicken feed was 50% more expensive than a month ago. Interestingly, most of the cat and dog food had 'Made in the USA' markings on it, and I would swear that included some brands I thought were made in China. I'm starting to wonder if China isn't making pet food anymore and that's why the shortages are so bad.
Canned pet food shortage causing woes among pet owners
We make our own. Take oats, some frozen vegetables/whatever is left over from dinner, soak overnight and mix it with diced beef/kangaroo/venison (depending on what we have). We can buy diced beef or kangaroo for $4.50 a kilo from the pet store, or if I've gotten a deer then the dog has a month of trimmings to get through. You could just make your own dog food.

Most of the time my hound just eats what I eat. Or store brand canned chicken/beaf mixed with canned patato's or mixed veggies if I am having take out or something dogs can't eat.
I am of the belief that specific "dog food" is a 20th century consoomer scam. And feeding your dog the same exact shit every day made up of sawdust and who knows what else for his whole life can't be good for him.
Even if you can't cook at all store brand canned stews and such are not much more then mystery meat canned dog food.

Do you have a source for that? Because dogs are just domesticated grey wolves, and grey wolves are indisputably carnivores.I'm just glad the do-it-yourself dog food people aren't part of the "bones and raw meat" malarkey. Dogs are omnivores with very similar dietary requirements to humans.
Seems like a lot of effort to me, but I don't criticise anyone who cooks for their dogs, so long as they give them both the meat and veggies they need.
For those unaware, Sped Xing originally told me to use the internet to find out that wolves are in fact omnivores. The trouble is that all the search results will tell you that wolves are in fact carnivores. Having realized this, Sped Xing quickly edited his post to hide the fact that he is a complete retard, which makes him both a retard and a faggot. You're on the internet. You could look up cool facts about animals if you like.
Another thing most people do not immediately realize is that wolves and wolf-dogs will eat, and often enjoy, fruit. Many captive wolves and wolf-dogs have been known to go crazy for watermelon. We’ve even met a wolf that liked pineapple.
Captive wolves and wolf-dogs do well eating diets like those of wild wolves. Wild wolves survive on sporadic meals of deer, elk, moose, bison, and other natural prey. Even captive wolves and wolf-dogs are capable of, and benefit from, digesting pounds of raw meat. Their bodies do not need all of the carbohydrates and preservatives that are found in normal dog food. Raw, whole bones serve as a source of calcium and other vitamins, as well as strengthening teeth and jaws. Don’t worry about feeding your wolf-dog uncooked bones — it is only when bones are cooked that they become brittle and splinter. It can be difficult to find elk and bison to feed your wolf-dog, so you can rely on raw chicken, turkey, beef, etc. Pre-cooked or pre-seasoned meats, as well as pork and pork products, should not be fed to your animal, as they can cause many digestion issues. Don’t forget that your wolf-dog also needs access to fresh grass and vegetation to help with digestion.
Most captive wolf and wolf-dog sanctuaries have found that nutritional supplements help the animals stay healthy. In particular, glucosamine (for arthritis and stiffness), vitamin C (for infection and the immune system), fish oil (for skin and coat problems), vitamin A, B-complex, D and E (for various conditions), alfalfa and wheatgrass (for internal parasites), pumpkin (for digestion), and garlic (for internal and external parasites, as well as the immune system) are very helpful when needed. Any supplement can be administered as needed by inserting it into a small ball of ground meat.
In some areas of the former Soviet Union, wolves cause serious damage to watermelon plantations. Wolves will usually only take ripe melons after giving test bites, which can render even unripe fruits worthless for future consumption. Sometimes, up to 20% of the total watermelon crop can be destroyed on one raid.[23]
Wolves are skillful hunters, and large, hoofed ungulates like deer and elk are generally on the menu. But scientists increasingly recognize that these keystone predators have an exceptionally varied diet partaking in everything fish to fruit! The wolves living in Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota eat blueberries – lots of them! Researchers found that most wolves spend extended periods in July and August, during peak blueberry season, foraging in blueberry patches. Zephyr, Alawa, and Nikai don't have access to any blueberry patches at the Wolf Conservation Center, so we offered them something really big and juicy - watermelons! After all, what better way to beat the summer heat than with delicious watermelons? Just like us, a wolf's diet can be highly variable and constantly changing depending on the environment. And perhaps fruit may be more important to the wolves' diet than previously thought! The WCC, a 501c3 non-profit organization in South Salem, NY, is one of a network of facilities participating in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan - a bi-national initiative whose primary purpose is to support the reestablishment of Mexican gray wolves in the wild through captive breeding, public education, and research. I edited it to be funnier. Wolves absolutely eat plants. For those unaware, Sped Xing originally told me to use the internet to find out that wolves are in fact omnivores. To add to this a little, I was at the grocery store today and was looking at meats when I heard the woman behind the counter explaining to a customer that they didn't have any giblets or any organs, they kept putting in orders for it but not getting them fulfilled, and she thought it was pet food companies buying all of it up.Drug, feed ingredient shortages hit U.S. livestock producers

Beyond basic goods if you're one who likes real Christmas trees (and don't cut them down yourself) I'd strongly recommend getting yours as soon as they go on sale this year. Chatting with the lot I buy from has indicated the supply is worse than last year (drought is compounding with the lower planting of saplings back in the early 2010s) and is being heavily exacerbated by the logistics clusterfuck and increased consumer interest. Oh and that's before including the floods in the Pacific northwest as well screwing with things.
The expectation is you won't be finding one in store by second week of December.
