It wasn’t always that way in the US. There was a time way back when it was considered tres gauche to bring up politics or religion in social settings. I don’t know when it changed for the rest of the country but in my little part of it “No Politics&No Religion” was a barroom rule even as recently as the late 2Ks. These days, of course, it’s inescapable. Happy fucking Holidays.

Same here. Lost half the family members to the politics of the last 5 years so no more big family events. Visiting my parents today and we’ll sit down for dinner but it’s not like a big deal or anything.

The grocery store had only one in the case a couple of days ago and it was just too big for 3-4 people, plus $60 is a lot of money. That goose was $40 a couple of years back and you had your choice of large or smaller ones.
