Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Happy leftovers day, everybody. Turkey is down to just scraps but I've got potatoes and gravy here. Breakfast of champions.

On Kamala vs. Biden's popularity: remember that for most people Biden was someone they had known since Obama's two terms. His campaign ran on "return to normalcy" for a reason, he was trying to capitalize on the goodwill he got simply standing near Mr. Hope-And-Change for 8 years. Biden always came off as this goofy, folksy and harmless old man, and he was a good enough speaker that his gaffes back then sounded more endearing than worrisome to most people.

Kamala has none of that. She was a complete unknown to the vast majority of Americans. She had no positive baggage associated with her. And her personal demeanor is, to quote my friend's wife over Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, predatory. Even when she's trying to sound nice and considerate, she sounds like... well, a prosecutor trying to nail someone to the cross for jaywalking. So while Biden gets to coast on at least 8 years of looking like a grandpa, Kamala gets none of that. So they're definitely not the same person in the eyes of Joe Public.

To be fair, Trump spent his first thanksgiving at Mar-A-Lago. He also spoke to troops via livestream for 16, 17. and 18 before the surprise turn up and dinner in 19.

Biden, however, has gone to spend time with David Rubenstein on his small estate in Nantucket (20 ish acres). Now, the Bidens spending time in Nantucket for Thanksgiving in particular is nothing new. However, the last time Dementia Joe spent time on the Rubenstein Estate (Who is one of the co-founders of the Carlyle Group) was way back in 2014. Back when Biden was VP.

Rubenstein is a massive opponent of the proposed wealth taxes in the BBB bill, and of taxes in general.

@Ponderous Pillock where are you getting your info on electric vs gas-driven vehicles? Cause from what I've seen and heard, the only motivator for the auto manufacturers seems to be people whining and government subsidies.

One major drawback is that once the battery craps out in these electric vehicles, it has to be fully replaced -- and that damn near costs almost as much as a new car. It also utterly kills the used car market, which of course fucks lower-income people over.

That doesn't even get into the issues of power generation, transmission, and distribution. They're gonna need a LOT more of that if they want electric vehicles to be a thing.

Personally i still support Yang's idea of moving departments out of DC and frankly hope it gets adopted. DC would do better by having less feds in town and the rest of country would benefit by having departments in areas said agencies regulate.

This will never happen. Just look at one practical consideration: tens of thousands of government workers, many if not most of whom own homes in the DC/NOVA area, having to sell their homes and buy homes wherever the department ends up. Whatever area they choose will see house prices soar, while the demand for their houses in the DC area will lessen by a corresponding amount.

Plus, distance from DC means distance from the levers of power, and distance from the the powerbrokers of DC. No department is going to willingly go along with that. Corporations can pick up and move if the environment they're in is undesirable or some other local offers them a better deal or more concessions. Governmental bodies, at least federal bodies, are tied to Washington DC. There isn't anywhere that can offer them a better deal. Being close to/in Washington is already the very best deal that can be offered.

In an ideal world this would be possible, but here in realpolitik land it's an impossibility.

Sorry, it seems that figure's gone down: https://www.autotrader.com/car-shopping/buying-car-how-long-can-you-expect-car-last-240725

Average UK car replacement is 6 n a bit years. Which about ties in to how long I tend to keep my cars.

EV Batteries are aimed to last about 17 years at 12,000 miles per year, and replace a dozen or so components that would normally fail on a car and require repair.

It seems the perception and the tech are at two different positions right now. There will be a second hand car market for EVs, but you won't get day 1 range or useage out of them, which arguably you don't get on any second hand car as is. It also seems you can replace individual cells on some vehicles as they begin to fail, so gradual replacement seems likely.

Well, the UK's doing it, and when the mandarins and others screeched about it they were told there's bound to be plenty of norf men and women who would take their ridiculously overpaid jobs quite happily.

It can be done, even with "realpolitik" in the way.

This is because no one, literally NO ONE likes Kamala Harris. Why do I say that with such certainty? Because she dropped out before a single vote was cast in the primary. Fucking Bloomberg and Surf Mommy Tulsi got farther than Kamala. She has no base of support. She is only tolerated by Democrats because she is Biden's VP, and only barely. That's it.
It's hilarious to me that the Dems promised a black woman VP, and not only was Kamala the best option, but she was practically the ONLY option.

I know someone explained it a few months ago (TL;DR-black women tend to be ambitious and the DNC HATES that), but it's still hilarious that the party of "black rights" and "women's rights" and all that shit only had ONE black female option to even consider.

Agreed. That's old news and with everything going on in the world you'd think they'd have something more to report than "Let's Go, Brandon" and "I did that!" stickers around town
It's not so much the news WANTS to report on the stickers, they HAVE to with how often the stickers are showing up. It's not some radical fringe thing now and the normies are starting to wonder.

It's also means the news has some time to kill to avoid talking about the Christmas Parade massacre.

Yeah, they hated Cheney and W, all right. Now W is Michelle O's best friend and Cheney's daughter is a "moderate" at home on "The View" or CNN denouncing her own constituents as deplorable bigots. It's like Bizzaroworld. I hated W and Cheney then, still hate them, and will always hate them. I can't understand how folks can just switch it on and off like that.
What's even crazier is Liz Cheney was a big Trump supporter (at least publicly, her snake personality in private has now been shown recenrly) and the media hated her last year. Now she's their new favorite Rino. God I hope a Trump Republican primaries her so hard!!

Ahh, normality is back in the White House!
Those stickers are just now making the rounds on the news? I've been seeing these things for months.
You can get 100 of them on Amazon for like ten bucks.
This is the Washington Times, so this is still far from your MSM rags. I imagine if it ever percolates to those, they'll also include screeching about terrorism, racism, Naziism, and muh Jan 6 insurrection.
Cheney seemingly bottomed out at 30% when he shot that guy. Then the recession hit and he left office with 13% approval.

Kamala is at 28% right now, supposedly.
Dick Cheney shot a guy and had a higher approval rating than Kamala Harris!

I think the conversion kits (like the Ford Eluminator) are a good idea, but I'll wait to see if this also forces "car DRM" and bullshit features on your old model like what they've been wanting to do with brand new cars. I just want something that goes from point A to point B without the government tracking everywhere I go or monitoring my eyes for sleepiness.

There was also Stacey Abrams, who's somehow even more unpopular than Harris. They could have considered big city mayors like Muriel Bowser from DC or Keisha Bottoms from Atlanta or Lori Lightfoot from Chicago. I think that ultimately, none of the mayors were chosen because for Bowser and Lightfoot, their cities are disaster areas. For Lightfoot, I think that she's vulnerable to corruption charges, and certainly to allegations of incompetence. Bottoms wasn't picked because it would have pissed off Stacey Abrams. Abrams wants to be the only black female powerbroker in Georgia. Plus, Atlanta has huge crime problems and got hit by pretty significant riots right around the time that Biden's handlers were picking the VP, and her response was, of course, weak and anemic.

I still remember when that Asian massage parlor shooter in Atlanta happened, and the shooter literally said that it had nothing to do with #StopAsianHate, and the mayor literally chimped out that he was lying and it was all about race.

Has the sheboon consneeded the GA race yet? She still fancies herself as the TRUE and HONEST GA governor, last I checked.
