Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

You know what's funny? Scroll backwards 1-2 months in this thread, and almost every poster has made a prediction about this winter being bad, either because a bad flu will hit the vaccinated hard due to jab issues, or a covid strain will come along which renders the vaccine useless.

And here we are. Predictions fulfilled, shocked, notshocked.gif
And the sad part about that is that it will empower countries (see Italy) to crack down even harder and push for more vaccinations. Used to be in Italy that you could get a PCR test and then that would act as your "pass" to go to certain venues, restaurants etc. Already pretty draconian and rather ridiculous. From December, that's no longer in play, green pass only, which you only get after getting the shot.
Key Parts:
Italy is to bar unvaccinated people from popular social and sports activities, as governments across Europe scramble to tighten Covid-19 restrictions amid record-breaking numbers of infections in parts of the continent.

The Italian “super green pass” will take effect from 6 December and require people to prove they are vaccinated or have recovered from Covid to access cinemas, theatres, gyms, nightclubs, ski lifts and stadiums, as well as to be served indoors at bars and restaurants.

Current rules in Italy and many other EU countries with health passes also allow people who provide proof of a negative test taken within the previous 48 hours to use recreational venues, a regime that has become known as 3G, but the Italian “super green pass” removes that third option.

The Netherlands and France are among those thought likely to also adopt a stricter so-called 2G regime within days. 3G refers to the German words geimpft (vaccinated), getestet (tested) and genesen (recovered); 2G is vaccinated or recovered.
In a surprise move, people will also have to show proof of vaccination, recovering from Covid-19 or of a negative test taken within the previous 48 hours when using public transport such as buses or metro trains. The measure is already in place when travelling on long-distance trains and domestic flights. The government has also extended the obligatory vaccine requirement, already in place for health workers, to the police force, military and teachers.

Personally, I don't follow the science of the vax and whether it works or not, or any of that. But as of principal, and seeing how people and the government act, I'm not going to follow it.
Remember in the early days when the crazy eyed lunatics were screaming at people who called it "a very bad flu, especially for old people" as being insensitive and anti-science?

Yea, the vaccine is a fucking flu shot. You can still get and pass on the coof with vaccine and with booster shot. They can't even deny this, though they'll try to gaslight you and say that you were always vulnerable, even with the vaccine.

If you are over 75, get the jab because what harm could it do. Or not. Everyone else it's a big nothingburger.

Calling the new covid variant Omicron variant is Xenophobic to Omicron Persei 8 and its inhabitants.

Lrrr is displeased

Bad flu is exactly what I got when I tested positive for it months ago. Really shitty flu. 39 degrees C, coughing, lots of mucus, tired, the runs in week 2 because of the amount of mucus in my gut etc. The exact sort of thing that could KO someone who was over 75. For me, nothing that a lot of rest and taking all the usual meds couldn't deal with.

My parents got it another time. They wanted to take the horse dewormer and I told them over the phone to not bother and to treat it as a very bad cold. Sure enough, 3 weeks later, they were as if they never had it. Both are heavy smokers and getting on in age, so them getting it was a panic moment. Turns out, nope. They have both gotten worse before and they were fine then.

Maybe it's anecdotal, maybe I have great genetics, but that experience, combined with the overall behaviour of people and the government really killed any lean I had towards getting it.

I just got my 3rd shot 2 weeks ago.

Why have I got he feeling in about 2 months thanks to the new variant I will now be considered unvaccinated. Fucking bloody hell.

Covid. The gift that keeps on giving. Omicron, Unicron...catchy at least. Get it??

This is unironically becoming a test to see how much they can get away with before people start demanding blood.
Bloomberg was interviewing some fudge-packer with a British accent from WHO saying "closing borders won't help".

At this point, I'm convinces they're trying to radicalize us on purpose, so someone snaps and they're able to implement Patriot Act 2.0.

I had to go to the hospital for an eye exam today, nurse was insistent I muzzle up. Told her it's not the law anymore and she said "it doesn't matter if it's not, I have vulnerable people at home blah blah". Countering her with "if you're that scared of it, you wouldn't bother coming into work and pretending something barely thicker than a paper tissue will protect you" shut her down quicksmart. To her credit, she did do the exam professionally and not a word more about it.

"If you cared about your family you wouldn't be at work!"

Tell me you're an unemployed disability leech without telling me you're an unemployed disability leech.
