XenForo has revoked our license

Yes, but the license agreement is meant to prevent cases of continued support where a company no longer wishes to have someone as a customer. As much as people hate hearing it, the customer isn't always right. This right protects small-time developers as well, who can tell the customer to fuck off if they are being an absolute turbo sperg in regards to the software that has been licensed. It is skeevy, but there's a second side to the agreement that a lot of people gloss over. It is very similar to the at-will employment debate, where lefties bitch about a company giving you 0 notice for termination, but they also have the right to give a company 0 notice to cease work.

I dunno man if you signed a user agreement that says they can do that then what did you expect? And if the agreement doesn't say that then of course they can breach it, you can always breach a contract, and then it becomes a matter of remedy. Which is why they wouldn't in this dumb hypothetical since yanking a popular business OS would put them on the hook for many money (ie why they'd obviously cover termination in the agreement).

And contracts are only one area of law; Microsoft having their own secret police routinely cross-referencing social media to their customer database is probably another whole matter, I dunno. That would be nice but I'm probably being optimistic.

When you buy a Xenforo license, the license only gives you 12 months of updates. After that, you need to buy a license extension for $55, which gives you another 12 months.

So Null definitely isn't getting a refund for the first 6 years of services, since he received all services purchased. He might be able to get a partial refund for the 2021 license extension, but the refund isn't worth the effort and XenForo wouldn't have a hard time arguing KF is in violation of the restrictions outlined in the EULA.

The licence changed dramatically on July 7th. It used to say "You undertake to ensure that the Software is not used by You or others to engage in illegal activity. You may not use the Software to engage in any activity that would violate the rights of third parties." and it now says "You undertake to ensure that the Software is not used by You or others to engage in or promote: illegal activity; any activity that would violate the rights of third parties; defamation, discrimination, harassment, hatred or harm of third parties."

I wonder if this change was targeted at KF, which is distasteful to a lot of people, but categorically not illegal.
