They've all played it before (except for maybe Mumei), so it isn't like they're a bunch of newbies bumbling around trying to figure out the mechanics. Hell, those first "What the fuck are we doing?" Phasmophobia streams were more eventful.

Late response but:

I wonder what would happen if the world just said "No" and treated and recognized Taiwan as its own country. Pull out from trade? Eh, corporations are already looking to other countries because of CCP crackdown, that'd just speed up the process. Not to mention China's economy is on the verge of total collapse.
Attack Taiwan? Pretty sure most countries would put a stop to that in a heartbeat.

The biggest problem with that idea is that Taiwan doesn't even consider itself as independent. The PRC-ROC relations come from an unresolved civil war and both claim mainland+Taiwan as their territory. So it can be considered Chinese internal politics for a lot of countries and they choose who is China (hint: PRC is in the UN, ROC is not). Some countries like the US treat Taiwan as special while still maintaining PRC as official.

Within Taiwan there is growing independence sentiment but there has been no declared independence from ROC hence the Chinese calling Taiwan a "rogue province." I'm pretty sure China has declared at some point that they will invade Taiwan if they declare independence.
