I'm watching the video now. There's something hilarious about him reciting the Illiad while his cheap helmet's cheek guards flap like cardboard in the wind and the tassel on his spear frays apart. Despite spending a lot of money on this video it looks incredibly shoddy.

I do not think he has made any serious intent on research or even investing into improving his videos quality. Just as with Contra, he is in just for the theater and the narcicissist fix. So it only goes as far as he believes it is enough to satisfy his narcissistic cravings.

Like maybe it's the sort of thing a blokey lad like Ollie wouldn't notice. But I'm picturing him trying on the helmet and noticing the cheek guard is fucked. Maybe he asks one of the people he hired (who is just there for a paycheck and is not invested in the video at all) to try and fix it, or he tries to reinforce that cheek guard with a bit of duct tape but it doesn't work. I'm picturing getting him frustrated and upset, and debating not wearing the helmet, or delaying the video and ordering a replacement, but ultimately caving and trying to yolo it while feeling really awkward and uncomfortable.

I'm not a history nerd, and I might be wrong about it but...isn't what he is wearing a male breastplate?. I'm quite certain that female warrior breastplates were slightly different ( not necessary "boob" armors but more arched on the breast and narrower on the waist ) as it was the case for Jeanne du Arc :

Just watched the first half of his new video. Then i stopped half way mainly because it was boring. our favorite narcissist has once again spared no effort to put himself in a favorable light as the supposed grande dame of philosophy. Quite a bit of money went into production and he clearly has a team of people working for him to make „Abigail“ happen. I mainly remember the cringier parts of the video where he is amused like a bimbo about his own bad pronunciation of german words. Somehow his transLARP makes me almost sad. I don’t really know why. There is a tragic element in all this. Don’t wanna be a debbie downer. I’ll listen to the rest of it eventually, maybe… whilst cleaning the toilet or sth. There were really no interesting or new points in this. Maybe that’s what’s sad. To quote william shakespeare: much ado about nothing.

I'm amazed he's managed to make a career out of making philosophy as boring as humanly possible. His videos are always just him meandering through various concepts. I guess trooning out was the only way to stand out when you have no real talent.

If I were a real honest-to-good "trans hatting individual" I'd say 'yeah, give it to them! Get them all into the socialized healthcare", because when the level of their healthcare sunks to the bottom of the ocean with things like: mismanagement of HRT, doctors not specialized in "trans care", SRS by surgeons not trained in the field, sharing funds with other medical specialities, lack of mental health supervision on patients undergoing HRT, etc. the rates of suicide will surge far, far higher than the quoted 41%, something a "trans hatting individual" would celebrate.
Instead, I'm favor of privatized healthcare and abolishing socialized medicine altogether, if anything, trans patients probably received better treatment in a US private gender clinic than in the UK's NHS system.

I have a lot of thoughts but I'm going to start with him getting "offended" that his psychiatrist noted that he looked well-kempt.

1) You know Olly went home and jacked off to that comment afterwards.

2) It's standard practice for psychiatrists to take note of a patient's appearance during a psychiatric evaluation. Someone not being well-kempt could point towards depressive disorders, someone being strangely dressed could point towards schizophrenia, etc. Yes this can be very misogynistic in practice, for ex. women are often under more scrutiny for not wearing makeup or not shaving, but his psychiatrist was almost certainly just noting that he looks to be mentally well-adjusted (outside of being a troon).

“Appearance” is the very first component of a Mental Status Exam for any individual being assessed in a psychiatric context.

Nothing to do with being trans or passing or “hotness”

Appropriate dress and appearing well kempt versus being disheveled reveals a lot about a person’s mental status (think someone with obvious psychotic disorder in three to six layers of coats in the summer - that’s “inappropriately dressed”; or someone with depression who hasn’t been caring for themselves has stained clothing and unwashed hair - they could be “unkempt”, “disheveled” or even “malodorous”)

Sooooo given that we all seem to have an idea why it’s a good idea to get a general sense of how someone is presenting- you’d think someone with two parents who went through medical schooling and are very learned re: the healthcare system would be able to realize it’s probably not just specifically a weird inappropriate judgement of their physical appearance
