Normies generally only care about freedom of expression when they agree with/like the expression; fighting for freedom of expression thus requires lawyers who will, in Randazza’s words, “defend to the death your right to sell videos of two men shitting into each other’s mouths while Nickelback plays.”
Whoa, that's a little too far. I mean the Nickelback thing.

In this case, though, they're participating in a lawsuit "replete with bad-faith accusations lodged against the Defendants' attorney, Mr. Skordas. This brief is wholly improper. It does nothing to shore up Mr. Greer's case, nor does it give the court pause about granting the Defendants' motion to dismiss."

In other words, they are participating in vexatious litigation themselves if they familiarize themselves with the record and then continue to pursue frivolous legal arguments and allegations that would be actionably defamatory if made outside of a legal filing.

And unlike Greer, they probably have money to collect. And it could put a nice shit-stain on their resume to start their career with sanctions.
They're not going to engage in Russell Greer tier shit-flinging. They're going to do their damnedest to argue that underneath the steaming pile that Russ filed, there were the basic elements of a valid copyright claim.

The real question is how Russ is going to like being handcuffed to his chair while his new free lawyers cut a bunch of the stuff he really wants to put in his appeal brief.
It's interesting, it seems that the contact page for this law firm is currently not working and unable to receive submissions warning them about just what level of Streisand Effect this law firm might encounter if they continue to represent convicted stalker, known sex pest and vexatious lawsuit-filing Russhole Greer and that it might be a good idea if they googled their newest pro-bono client. Perhaps they have had several contact messages to this end already?

There might have legitimately been if he had sued the users who posted that stuff.

Not very much, I imagine

It’s not like there aren’t better copyright claims on these issues. There are. And these guys know it. It’s just that those people want to hire real IP lawyers, so DJF only gets to file also-ran amicus briefs.

The trend in fair use seems to be away from the positions they are taking, so with the exception of the guy with the Flikr photo nothing has gone their way.

I never go to the front page. I never see any of the messages on the front page because of this. Using the message at the top of the page, like has been done for a number of other messages, would catch the attention of people like myself.
JFC dude, just middle-click the site logo every couple of days and read the top of the home page. Then you can safely close the tab and save your precious RAM.

Personally, I plan on figuring out a way to make a monthly donation without compromising my anonymity here once I can afford to do something like this again.
Meh. Get over it and start sending a monthly check. If Null was going to compromise the identities of his private donors, he'd have done it by now.

I genuinely believe that the only way that information will ever be divulged is if his personal computers get hacked or some magic bullet long-shot convinces a court to order him to reveal absolutely everything he knows about everything related to KF and its users and said court successfully manages to force him to actually do it. I just don't see that happening. Too many moving parts and it takes just one link in the chain to say "nah, fuck off" to halt it.

Think whatever you want about Null's morals (though I certainly find him more "good" than "evil"), but one thing he's been unwaveringly consistent about has been his obstinance in the face of random bullies (people, lawyers, companies, entire governments) swinging at him just because they think they can. He told the New Zealand government to get fucked when they came nipping at his ankles about KF hosting the Christchurch shooting footage. Mind you he did this while not living in the US. Here, we're explicitly protected by federal law from extradition or monetary judgments when it concerns non-US libel/slander/defamation charges. He did it while overseas, where many countries are absurdly cucked about extraditing people over hurt feelings.

I'm not as worried about my anonymity anymore when it comes to free speech and my willingness to financially support it. Assholes of every flavor take advantage of that fear of being identified to make supporting sites like this virtually impossible. "Oh no, it would be humiliating to be caught donating to KF!" To whom? Nobody that matters to me gives a shit, and I'm stubborn and grumpy enough to go hard after anybody that tries to fuck with me over it.

Shitheads like Vordrak depend on people's general decency and their desire to avoid legal trouble. It's how they get away with all the stupid and evil shit they do. The risk he takes is that some day he'll offend someone that doesn't give a shit. I'm not above flying to England to put the sack of shit in the hospital on a feeding tube if I ever catch his droopy eye. I'd be back home before the little faggot could even blink on his own, much less speak coherently. What would they do anyway, ban me from coming back? I'll cry myself to sleep each night, I'm sure.

Pony up, lads. This stuff matters, and they can't shoot all of us at once.

They wouldn't bother with a subpoena to someone who won't turn it over anyway, they'll just subpoena the bank.
Banks tend to fight subpoenas tooth and nail, at least when they come from the plebs. And anyone whose records might be exposed by such a subpoena is generally entitled to move to quash it or at least force their own information to be redacted. I'm pretty sure that can be done as "John/Jane Doe" as well to protect their identity, too. I already assume that if a government gets involved, that information is (or soon will be) publicly available and will be used against me anyway, especially if some wily federal prosecutor decides to call KF "terrorism" and wants to link its users and donors to it.

I can't think of an ordinary cause of action (e.g. that could be raised by imbeciles like Russell or Vordrak) where a court would ever rule a plaintiff is entitled to that information though. KF doesn't require (or accept) payment for membership. It doesn't accept payments at all; there's no mechanism on the forum to collect payments (it's all done privately off-site). No spat over site content or users would involve the site's (or Null's) finances. Any allegation of crime-for-pay arranged via KF would be a criminal matter -- not a civil one -- and one would hope a prosecutor would be less inclined to leak donor information than an active KF adversary.

It's not likely to come from the plebs, though. Also if you have a valid reason for it they don't bother. Hell, just have a judgment debt and a writ of execution and whether or not you are a "pleb" they'll literally hand over the fucker's money to you.

On the other hand, if Null gets his hands on one of those, Russ's money (such as it is) will be Null's for the taking. A long shot, I know, but a guy can dream.

“Who keeps ordering me pizza and how do they know I like mushrooms?”
"And why is the name listed as YoYovanna?"

What merch idea is going to cover the costs for this one? (:_(
1) null will gain 400 ellbees on a diet consisting solely of chicken fries mukbangs

2) Livestream it all

3) lose the weight with a series of training montages a lá Rocky 2

4) Livestream it all

5) get skin removal surgery to remove the excess flab

6) (you guessed it)

7) turn the excess skin into Kiwi-brand Halloween masks and XXL-sized condoms

My point is that Greer and other random idiots like him aren't likely to be able to get Null's bank to tell him who's donating to KF because that's not relevant to any kind of complaint they can present to a court. We're all fucked if a company worth billions (or a government of any significance -- sorry New Zealand, lol) sets its sights on us.

We already had the Southern District of New York subpoena a user's info here. @fag0t.

lol the text of that subpoena must have been amazing. "This Court demandeth thou sayeth the true and proper name of he whose alias is fag0t."

But more seriously, that was a subpoena sent directly to KF and not to a bank, right? I hope Null's response was something to the effect of "The user named 'fag0t' joined on [date] using email address 'fag0t@horsefucker.org' and has made [number] posts. They last posted [number] days ago. No additional information concerning this user is available or recoverable."

And yes, horsefucker.org is a valid domain and you can get a free email address there!

Wasn't that because of an actual criminal investigation because the user kept posting "actionable threats" or something?

I ask because I know it's been more than one user who's had their info revealed due to a court order but not to a private suit.

A government would need a reason to set its sights on us, which is why the unspoken agreement is never to say anything which draws the gaze of the glowing nigger. We already know they keep an eye on us (or have a search engine dedicated to looking up certain combinations of words); we just have to not give them a reason to come after us.

That being said, the Feds are smarter than Russ (not a particularly high bar, I know); rather than go after Null directly (which a lawyer can defend against) they force him to hand over user information (remember when @SIGSEV fucked around and found out?) Until Congress repeals Section 230 or declares shitposting illegal, we don't have anything to worry about.

No, the user himself didn't actually do anything at all but post a link to something related to some pitiful attempt at a "mass shooting" in Germany.

My personal wild-ass guess as to why this might have happened is because of time zone differences, it looked like he posted it before the events were widely reported so it looked like he had some kind of prior knowledge and when they realized this, they dropped it.

That's just a wild-ass guess though.

But it's a really valid concern not to want your financials connected to the site or Null himself. Lots of times these government subpoenas are vastly overreaching, like just asking for absolutely everyone who ever transferred money to this account, and you could get dragged into some bullshit by some overzealous prick for some dumb bullshit someone else did, without even doing anything yourself.

just ask him for a Bitcoin/crypto wallet address, send him whatever currency to it. Fin.
