The only reason Bob cares about that movie is because it had big monsters wrecking shit. For whatever reason, he really enjoys any movie where a monster goes around tearing down buildings and blowing shit up. It's why he goes crazy over anything Godzilla-related, regardless of the movie's actual quality. To this day, the best video game adaptation to film is the Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 and I will die on that hill.
That being said
I didnt even remember that shit existed. Is this the high bar the movie critic thinker holds us to? No wonder he thinks that "Eternals" has "deep philosophy", or as he put in one of the more recent tweets "the first movie in Marvel lineup for adults" LOL
Now I'll admit to enjoying those sorts of movies myself, because it is fun to turn your brain off and enjoy some spectacular destruction. But Bob always seems to talk about them in terms of reverence, like Godzilla vs. Kong was the pinnacle of cinema instead of a very dumb movie with not enough monster fighting. I even saw Rampage in the theater and I honestly could not tell you a single thing that happened in the movie. It didn't even have anything to do with the video game, since the game involved people transforming into giant monsters and the movie just had regular animals but bigger. In terms of video game film adaptations, it's an adaptation in name only.
But again, it's not about quality to Bobbo, it's about what makes his toddler brain clap and cheer. If there's a big monke fight, he'll give it an instant 10/10.
