Should've elaborated more on that. The problem is two things: firstly, the economy, and secondly, Branch Covidians. The U.S. government and Federal Reserve have practically required prospective central bankers to undergo a lobotomy before taking office. If Americans should be scared of one thing, they shouldn't be scared of Covid. They should be scared of the fact that the monetary supply was increased by over 500% between January and May this year - we went from $3.8 trillion to $19.2 trillion.
Okay, quick diversion since I also want to get this out of my system: inflation is not "a rise in the price of goods". Inflation is expansion of the monetary supply. Inflation makes you poor regardless of whether or not prices rise, so just keep that in mind when you're reading headlines about the economy.
Anyways. Covid did not help the economy, that's beyond question, but there's a reason I believe it's not necessarily desirable for Biden to declare mission accomplished and end the pandemic and lockdowns. It's the prices.
Prices, of course, have been on the rise for Biden's whole tenure in office. Nobody trusts the Federal Reserve's inflation metrics anymore because anyone with a brain knows it's way worse than 6.25% or whatever. But the government has thoroughly laid the blame on supply chain shortages. There is a near universial expectation that everything will be back to normal once Covid is gone, once businesses resume production at full level, and once unvaccinated chuds can return to driving trucks since they won't be dying from Covid anymore. Prices will go back down, right?
No. Ending the pandemic would give a great temporary boost to Biden's numbers, I'm sure, but it would be temporary... then in early 2023 or whatever prices will still be up and everyone will be calling him the next Carter. And maybe the Democrats would have a few more seats than they would if the pandemic manages to extend into midterms next year. But Trump could still just re-use his economy message from 2016.
As for the Branch Covidians, well... 40% of the nation isn't all in on keeping everybody masked up and getting never-ending boosters because they want to masturbate over how much power the government has now. A lot of people believe that the world won't be safe until Covid is eradicated worldwide, which won't happen since the virus's mutations prioritize infectiousness as a means of replicating itself. And even then you'll have fucking loonies saying we should keep mask mandates in effect permanently. Oregon is already going down this road.
