Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I am more at this point, so I can answer.

Currently, I am a junior college student who goes out mainly just for school and minimum wage work at this point. I have taken both initial vaccine doses, though am hesitant on a 3rd, not becomes of any fears about my health, but more out of just not caring.

My parents are a bit more into the COVID hysteria. While they seem to question the legitimacy of masks, they are part of the vaccinated are smart and the anti-vax are holding back normalcy mentality. They seem to brush off any issues with the vaccine, such as people still catching COVID-19, as normal and to be expected. It cannot be 100% right? They are also all in on the anti-vax believe in micro-chips and Qanon media bullshit. To them, COVID seems more like an average media Dems good, Republicans bad narrative prompted by comedians they listen to like Colbert since the 2000s. I feel it has little to do with health a good chunk of time, though they are concerned for omnicron.

Personally, I just comply to be done with it all. I want to finish up my shitty college/high school experiences this next year and leave early. I comply with it at work because I just want to build money to buy a house and take off early 2023. I just tell myself that this will all be over soon, not just in terms of COVID, but in terms of just general life as I want nothing more than to get to the next step. I guess you can say that I do not want to risk anything in finally moving out.

Honestly, I know a few people who are basically just doing things to get out at this point. A lot of them work a ton, and barely go out past school and work as they are just focused on being done with this stage of life.

I just want to finish school, collect money, and stay on good terms with my parents, so rejecting COVID rules would be a pretty major risk for me currently, so I guess I just internalize that everything will be over soon. Is this a sufficient answer?

It is one, tho your mistake is to assume that this will go back to normal if you obey enough. I understand your logic and, maybe if the situation were significantly less dire, I would be on the same boat.

The problem is that people cant just auto-pilot themselves out of this mess with their average joe apathy. Your parents are worried for omicron but tis clear that they dont do anything but watch the usual talking pieces that basically go "Well, nobody has died of omicron yet but we need more restrictions to make sure it stays that way!!".

There is legit no voice in their heads that say "you know, that guy is talking bullshit" and I wonder how can someone just drop it...just seem so essential for basic survival.

Here is what I do not understand about people hysterical about COVID.

When it first came on the scene, I was SHOOK! I bought supplies and hunkered down in my house and Lysol-ed my groceries and basically took every precaution imaginable.

And then the data came out, and it was a huge wave of relief. I could go back to normal! It's a nothingburger! Holy crap it's literally just the flu! And this was early on, like mid-2020.

And half of America just went on with the hysteria.

They made fundamental changes to their way of living.

My brother-in-law basically hasn't left his home in two years.

Why? If you are going to make drastic, semi-permanent changes to your entire life, wouldn't you want to base that on some solid rationale? Why would you let CNN guide all of that?

I mean, at least on some level these folks understand that media sensationalizes and lies to them. Why not then use that to drive some skepticism about the changes you are making in your life?

It's insane. Literally insane. It's mass psychosis. These people are literally unwell. And they're dragging the rest of us to hell with them.

Nature exists only to be exploited.

This is why Chinamen are objectively superior to you and will rule over you.

It is not beauty, just resources to be exploited.
Those who exploit best, becomes Numbah Wan.

But be at ease, our yellow overlords at least hate niggers.

SoCal is plugging along. No mask mandates that I'm getting wind of. Work is kind of slow but that's also normal for the industry I'm in. Feels like NorCal is a different state. Nothing down here is like that.

The mask thing is the most alien thing I have ever seen. Vaccine hesitancy I can understand from a logical standpoint.

If given a choice, I would believe people would choose mask over vaccine.

It is zero risk, unless you believe that ZOG poisoned it too?

But than why not the drinking water? And the bottled water? And the food?

To me all mask mandates, rules, stickers on the floor, etc. are part of a big ass power trip from hell. All of a sudden you have a bunch of retail workers and HR roasties given unprecedented authority to demand papers, bark orders, refuse service, and generally just fuck with you. Maybe I'm just an idiot and missed the health and safety aspect but the fact that airlines allow you to remove your cheap plastic hospital mask while eating and drinking on the plane makes me think they lost the plot long ago.

What is worse for me is I am in the category of people most susceptible to COVID. I have a heart condition, so they are extra paranoid about me catching it because they assume it means death. Luckily, I am super healthy, was literally running at the pace of a non-impaired my last stress test, so I am not worried about dying whatsoever. The virus will likely just take me out for a day, if I haven’t already caught it while being consistently out of the house since 2020, and massless all of last summer. If anything, I just want to avoid a hospital trip as my family is a bit divided on the vax. I feel like if I get sick it just adds to the pissing contest, regardless if I die or not. Grandpa got sick not to long ago, and he is 80 with pretty severe back issues, yet came out in two days. Still, it turned into a “you should have gotten the vax” thing first. In saying this, even if I did get the third vax and caught COVID, it would probably just turn into a story about how the vax saved my life by nullifying the affects or some shit.

Honestly, if I were alone, I would probably risk it and get the natural immunity. Just not tell anyone about so I can avoid the lecture on why leaky vaccines are Uber-effective.

The weird part about this is that my parents have expressed that they think masks are useless and we need to see the science. It is like there is some level of clarity, but I think the retarded culture war that began in the 2000s with comedians like Stewart ripping into Bush is what stops any full analysis. I feel like many Xers of their age range are playing a political game from two decades ago still, and are just comfortable in the same Republican bad and anti-science rhetoric that Colbert and co have spouted since 07. These people are not woke, super vaxxers, but the smug shit can arguably be more annoying.

:story:
Oof. Now I know you right-wing chuds want to blame this on the vaccines but actually it just sounds to me like they've got a bad case of "post-pandemic stress disorder". Nothing to see here, comrade. Get the fucking vaxxx.

Wut. All of Los Angeles is masked indoors and vaccines are required for various things like indoor dining.

Demanding papers and bossing people around is the best in any job.

You can either show me your papers, or you can go to the other store 2 hours away, where they'll also ask papers.

Not willing to show papers? Go trade with gypsies than. Enjooooy ~~<3!

Hm... So Fauci said that the definition of fully vaccinated will be changed soon to taking 3 doses, but one thing is not clear to me: Does it mean that if your employer requires full vaccination, now the time to be fully vaccinated extends to 3.5 month? Or more? From what I remember you need to wait 2 weeks between the doses of Pfizer, and boost after 3 months. Maybe someone knows?

Tinfoil hat and personal thought dump:

  • There won't be any jab mandates, anywhere. It's a scare tactic to get the last few fence sitters to comply.
  • The jabs were made faults on purpose to allow strains to spread.
  • Faulty jabs put evolutionary pressure on the virus, in the hopes a deadly strain will mutate.
  • Omicron was meant to be a dangerous strain to scare more fence-sitters to get the jab
  • Current plan in shambles because Omicron isn't dangerous
  • Governments backed in to a corner as the justifications they used for more restrictions, are now going to be used for less restriction.
  • Governments introducing new restrictions in the hope to buy more time before a deadlier strain is announced.
  • Next year jabs will have to be paid for by individuals
  • Price rises on the cost of jabs will be offset if you X. You will own nothing and be happy vaccinated.
  • Trump will be blamed for any vax deaths in the future.

TL;DR Omicron was meant to be more deadly, to push more jabs, which are shit on purpose so that you need boosters. Enjoy paying for them

It's insane. Literally insane. It's mass psychosis. These people are literally unwell. And they're dragging the rest of us to hell with them.

It's a combination of a bunch of things:

* A lot of these people were ready to give up and let someone else make decisions for them anyway. How many times have you heard people (Millennials) on the internet saying something like "Ugh I don't feel like adulting today"? They weren't lying.

* Karen is real, and a lot of people just enjoy rules and seeing other people subjected to rules.

* The MSM has been fucking crazy and antisocial for a long time now, the equivalent of a psychopath with a megaphone who just screams stuff designed to make people anxious, frightened and hateful all day, every day. Trust in the media may be at all time lows, but millions of people still get their "news" from the "news". The news was never interested in sober, retrained journalism about this, it was PANIC, SHIT THE BED!!! from early on (once they realized there was more mileage in accusing Orange Man of personally murdering grandma than there was in accusing him of being an insane racist for closing international flights)

* Modern societies were in a death spiral anyway. Healthy societies with a future don't have sub-replacement birth rates, as every non-completely-a-shithole country in North America, Europe and Asia does - being unable or unwilling to have children should've been a big clue there's something deeply wrong with our concept of modernity. Because societies that fail to regenerate themselves just fail in the end. Mass urbanization and mass media have pretty much killed the kind of social and familial support networks people used to rely on to stay sane.

Hard to imagine this shit going down in 1980, when most people married and had kids in their early 20's, had more or less stable employment, probably lived in the same town they grew up in, had close family near by, knew their neighbors, did social stuff irl all the time, and weren't addicted to smartphones. 1980 wasn't some kind of paradise, but the average adult in 2021 is socially poorer in every conceivable way, and it breeds an alienated, isolated and anxious existence where millions of people need antidepressants to cope.

People are generally unwell. They're sick, tired, fat and crazy, and many of them can't even bring themselves to have sex anymore. And it's not their fault.

Textbook confirmation bias

Its either you didnt vax enough or the vax was the thing that saved the day.

It's just retarded since it doesn't do as advertised.

Some places will probably have de facto vaccine mandates because they'll allow businesses to require weekly testing that'll get too expensive for common people to afford. The only way to prevent vaccines being mandated by the government or businesses is if they're explicitly required not to even check your status or test you.

Omicron is just a scheduled name for the virus after its gone through so many evolutions, they probably had no idea what the hell it'd be like or whether it'd be more or less deadly. The problem is that it's more contagious which means the plans for "eliminating the virus" become all the more difficult to attain. The elephant in the room that Dems (and many world leaders) refuse to address is that the virus is never going away and it's the problem is exacerbated by guys like Fauci refusing to admit the virus is endemic.
"To me, if you want to get to endemic, you have got to get the level of infection so low that it does not have an impact on society, on your life, on your economy," Fauci said. "People will still get infected. People might still get hospitalized, but the level would be so low that we don't think about it all the time and it doesn't influence what we do."
There is a wide range of opinion as to what might be considered getting the virus under control, Fauci noted. "You could control it at 50,000 cases a day. To me, that's not good control, and that's not endemicity that I would accept."

He disagrees with those who argue that it is time to start learning to live with the virus.

"I don't want to sit back when we have 70,000 to 85,000 new infections a day and say, 'Oh, well, we can't do any better than that. Let's live with that.' Sorry, that's not where we want to be," he said.

That is why he keeps pushing to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

"For me, endemicity means a lot more people get vaccinated, a lot more people get boosted, and although you don't eliminate or eradicate it, that infection is not dominating your life," he said.
One problem that stands out here is that he's not giving a shit about how mild the virus has become, it's just a matter of how many 'cases' there are estimated to be. So they could technically say the virus is done now and we can move on, but instead we've got politicians like Fauci moving goal posts constantly as though Republican states haven't been proving how irrelevant some of the lockdown measures had been.

Idk if I'm dooming, mang ( (:_( )

I'm describing. Was life better for average people in 1980? Depends how you define "better". If you think electronic trinkets and multiple varieties of organic potato chips and the freedom to choose your own pronouns are important, we're crazy rich.

If you think having a wife and children, or even a girlfriend, and living in an actual irl community where people know you, with friends and an active social life that isn't based around the internet is important, it's not looking so good for average normies.

Strikes and whatnot were a PITA. On the other hand, they were only possible when workers had enough social capital and confidence to actively demand better pay and conditions. Is the modern (not-even-cubicle) drone who probably doesn't even know people outside his own team and can be fired via Zoom at any time better off?

Would 1980s people have allowed themselves to be pushed around and subject to the Coof reign of terror for any length of time? No.

The media says hospitals are filled to capacity but they really aren't. The emergency room in my area barely has any covid patients and I live in a pretty big area. They are using the Hospitals being over filled narrative to guilt people into getting vaccinated I believe.
Perhaps hospitals in other parts of the country are filled to capacity, and that's why the media is making such a claim.

I don't think you're dooming mang. You raised some pretty good points and relayed them very well. Didn't agree with everything, but it activated my almonds, and that's all I want from any post I take the time to read. I'd be interested in hearing more of your shit.

We're all kind of going off thread here but I don't know what more can be added to the argument. It's good to get new info, well presented, but I think we all know where we stand by now and battle lines have pretty much been drawn.

I think I might have mentioned this yesterday, but when I was on my beer run, the girl in the shop said some people were off sick. I asked if it was covid and her eyes lit up. She said that not in the whole two fucking years had they had one single fucking member of staff go sick with Covid. It sounded like a bit of a 'thing' for them. Like it was common knowledge or lore. Interdasting. I guess they are pissed off at having to wear those stupid masks. But not as pissed off as they were at having to wear those stupid headsets so they could ask stock control in the back room if they had any more of my beers I had drunk them dry from.

Btw, I noticed some very small little bits of printed paper saying OH YEAH MOTHERFUCKERS WE ARE RECORDING ALL YOUR CONVERSATIONS IN HERE. WE HAVE THIS STORE FULLY FUCKING BUGGED WITH MICROPHONES ALL YOUR DATA BELONG TO US.

That was nice to find out when I was searching for a new toothbrush. Cancer, cancer everywhere. There was a very noticable demeanour about how they all joined in that little bit of 'make polite conversation'. No one really likes that job, but it gives a few of them a few extra bucks they can use top up whatever benefits I think they are getting as well. Very few do it full time.

Anyway, just checked in to say I watched the full Martin Sellner video today that I posted in my little love-bombing fury on this thread. I'll post it one more time in case you missed it:

He seems in pretty good spirits. He makes the point that there are many more protests going on in the days to come and that there is even a general strike being organised if this finally does come about with them enforcing shit. He makes the point that there is quite a strong resistance movement to this, and a fuck load of people are going to call the government's bluff, so fucking incensed they are and outraged that they could even think about pulling this shit. I found it encouraging and a very much needed white pill.

Don't forget that Austria, though it may be one of the most egalitarian countries on the whole planet, still has a sizeable Prole population that like to just get fucked up on white beer and listen to Schlager music! They might even be quick to get vaxxed, but they will be even quicker to have a row when this sleepy little country finally wakes up and gets to show just who is stuck in here with who. That is my hope.

For now it is the whole population protesting, women and children too. But soon there may be 'males only' protests, if you know what I mean. Sellner admits in his opening words that this is a test case for Europe. If the people can't muster enough people power to overcome this then they deserve to be enslaved, in my opinion. And it's my further opinion, that should they overcome this, then they shouldn't stop there, and get some fucking heads on sticks from the cunts that tried to bring this about in the first place. Metaphorically speaking of course.

There are a lot of people who have already been pushed too far. I think the government might have just underestimated just how many people there are, relishing the prospect to give them a black eye. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
