I think that's the main difference. I have no shame in playing games like Divinity on easy because I want to a: finish the game and b: not kill my team due to friendly fire (who thought this would be a fun mechanic?). But I'm also not streaming so I'm not entertaining anyone other than myself. Then again, neither is Phil. Hell, he hardly entertained himself most of the time lately.
Like Nigel also said, I wouldn't mind watching a streamer play a game on easy either, if the streamer was entertaining enough and they hadn't been bragging about how amazing they were at video games.
Friendly Fire and the armor system of DoS:II made the difficulty less of a challenge and more of a slog. There's PC mods that remove FF and make the amor system one armor that was baked into the overall stats so it didn't feel like you had to kill an enemy 2-3 times. This was funny cause then the difficulty settings didn't seem to matter, except in the few instances the game cheated, like the infamous lumbermill or one part in Lohse's story.
One game I was disappointed about in the difficulty change was the FF1 PSP remaster, it's TOO easy and it's not like FF1 has this riveting rich story so it really makes the game kinda boring like you passively play it just to play it like one step up from an idle game. I think it's the FF4 PSP version that makes it so anyone can use any spell which completely makes the forced character swaps and parts like the attack on fable easier but just boring.
The last game I messed with the difficulty was ME1, I played on the hardest and the ai was still exceptional but it took more shots to kill them and biotics were still really op so back down to normal cause difficulty just felt like a literal waste of time.
Kinda funny though how Gaming has gone full circle to Jap devs thinking NA gamers are too soft for games like SMB2 or FF4J to NA gamers crying that games are too hard.
I agree with Nigel as well, something phil doesn't get still, it's not the game but the streamer. I like Robbaz and his sims 3 playthroughs, as an example, was more about him being entertaining and making up stuff to do and a story than just sitting there going "did you see that" "Ack ack ack" "poo poo poo in the butt with dicks and cock and poop aren't I funny I said fuck and poop!"
PP is really one of those streamers that you find in the bowels of twitch or facebook gaming who have like 3 viewers and the balls to have a tips goal titled "pay my rent" he just has a better mic, a slightly better camera and abused the old YT algorithm to get a fan base and become an infamous lolcow.
Also something that made me laugh, saw a drop tweet for the Series S that was a retweet of an earlier drop saying still in stock, and again Sony had to cut back production estimates due to not being able to meet demand but yes phil tells us more how the PS5 is failing and the Xbox is winning, even funnier when it's a near middle-aged man still thinking there's a console war.
