General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I am much more surprised when I realized, from reading the replies and QRTs, that a lot of people didn't know about the facedox. I thought most VTubers fans know about it already, especially Gura is Senzawa. But no, most seem to be unaware of this fact
There's something oddly innocent about people in this fandom who don't know about any of the dox. I'd liken it to when a child still believes in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. It's nice that there's still fans out there who enjoy vtubers on the surface level and haven't peered beyond the veil.

Anyone have translations of the shuba Noel offcolab? I've seen 3 clips but that's about it. I kinda want to see how the arc ends.

Despite what you might think, the vast majority of Vtuber fans are normies and dont roll in the mud as much as we do.

IRyS' schedule. Looking forward to the collab for Reine and IRyS targeting each other and also Anya trying to get revenge on Reine because of last time.

A weird thought crossed my mind the other day randomly about Sana. How sure are we it was her dog that died and not her "dog". There are a few members that are fairly open with their family, if there are health issues, etc. But take Watame for instance. One day she suddenly drops her Grandma had passed away a while back, which shocked everyone considering everyone assumed she was still alive. And at the very least was alive when Watame started streaming.

It just made me wonder how likely it was that she was using the dog as an analogy to not come across as overly depressing to her chat.

Sorry if that was already mentioned around the time of her break.
Late to the party but a few streams before it died, Sana had talked about her dog and mentioned it getting old already, so it's most likely not a cover story.

I mean, JP is still a bigger market than EN, so it's not that surprising that she has more subscribers. Just compare the concurrent viewers of Gura to people like Marine and Pekora who are usually streaming during prime time with 10+ other members. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that it's a good indicator of the market size.

Gura's audience is global and split among multiple time zones, while Marine and Pekora mostly have Japanese viewers. This means that Gura is streaming to like a 3rd of her audience at once, while Marine and Pekora have access to their entire audiences during peak hours. For this reason it's more fair to compare VoD views, where Gura consistently has a higher average than both of them.

I would expect that the people who know the roommates is around 10-15% or the total follower count. Seems way higher because everyone here knows it.

All of those pictures (and more) have been floating around for a long time. Actually, IIRC even that exact compilation is old. Not sure how the tweet got so much attention when it's basically baby's-first-facedox.
Pretty sure I saw those photos at around late November 2020 and I wasn't even in this website. I think the tweet got more traction than it should've because of the "Shit Vtuber Takes" account and a good number of people flooded the post to either retweet or comment on it. Twitter algorithm picked up on it as if it was something "hot" or interesting.

Hmm. I never really thought about this. Some of the JP girls have about 30% western viewers though. I wonder what Gura's numbers are like per region.

Apparently the doxfag was just trying to build hype up for one of his Twitter spaces where he probably whines about "mayo monkeys" but its hilarious reading some of the replies lmao plus he seems to get upset at being called nigger even though he plays it off
Not gonna give the faggot the attention he so desperately craves.

Gura might technically be the most popular hololiveEN member, but where does she rank for you guys? I don't see that much discussion about her on here very often.
She's my favorite alongside Calli. She's just a great entertainer/performer all around despite not having much of a "gimmick."

HoloEN fans in particular often dont engage with the idea the vtubers are actual people at all, treating them just like actual anime characters for shipping and lore autism
That might have the potential to end up worse than the doxing in the long term
I feel the people you’re describing are a minority, though maybe that’s just me wanting to reserve faith in humanity. Even still it is something I’ve seen enough of to know it’s a problem. Are EN shippers really that much worse than JP ones.

Maybe this is biased because she is my oshi but Mori is really good at with chat interacting.
She also calls chat "deadbeats" unlike the other four(i think).

They all refer to chat as both "chat" and their fan name's (chumbies, teammates, etc). It's not exclusive to Mori.

Going back to the chat interaction, unless you're an oil baron like Brom or some other known whales, it's impossible to interact with Gura. I try to watch her whenever she's live but I decided to stay off the chat because why bother.

Yeah i can understand that. At least with Mori, her chat is slow enough where you can actually have a real interaction with her.
I always get weird feeling whenever she reads my comment and answers to it especially if it happens multiple times on stream. I am not even paypig.

Maybe it is just me, but as mostly a holoEN watcher, I'm usually one of thousands of people in chat. I don't expect to be personally validated or talked to, so I don't really care if the streamer directly interacts with their chat or not, And definitely don't care if they have a pet name for chat that they use. I'm not trying to have a relationship with them (parasocial or otherwise), so just let me enjoy their personality, singing, talking, and gaming.

That might be different for those of you who watch small indie vtubers where there are a couple hundred or less, but I don't care about that aspect.

I can't believe my anime vtuber looks like a regular Asian woman!

But serious question, is hair dye common in Japan? A noticeable percentage of Hololive members dye their hair irl, some even fitting their character (photos of Moona's purple hair and Luna's pink hair come to mind).

She looks pretty cute. I'm surprised she posted something after her debut, but maybe she has that kusogaki personality irl too and doesn't give an f.

As for hair dye, most in Asia are black or at least dark haired, so it is kind of a way to be different and stand out I think. Also, most vtubers are probably weebs so they are exposed and used to lots of weird hair colors from watching anime I'm sure. Go to an anime con and I swear half the girls have their hair dyed in some crazy color (purple, pink, blue, etc).

Is it okay to talk here about the real life personalities of the vtubers or is it forbidden?

While this place has become more and more of a hugbox, we're fine talking about anything related to vtubers, even the real person behind, as long as you don't sperg too much about it.

Null you probably still don't fully understand why this thread is so active and one of the reasons is that it's the only popular place on the internet where you can talk about the real person behind the avatars and don't get shit on or banned for it.

I'd say it is encouraged within boundaries. Most are here to talk about vtubers in a way that is discouraged on hugboxes like reddit and twitter. Being able to discuss the irl people behind them gives a much better context, imo. Of course no actual doxxing or stupidness that is going to personally affect the person, we are here to enjoy them, not make their life suck.

I wondered why Null posted here all of a sudden, because your a new account and your first post was here. Good ol Null always watching.

Yeah as other have already said it fine, all I ask is please scroll back through this thread history. Yeah it fucking long but that was the search button is for. Look what you wanna look for, tickle your knowledge and feel free to join in the daily shit.

I found this site while searching for bg info on vtubers and have never heard of the site before and actually have never been to another thread here lol. Didn't even realize this was a "bad" place to be until I decided to stop lurking and post and got all the warnings about using anon email and such when trying to register. Still don't really care about the rest of the forums here, but I like being able to talk freely about vtubers and people behind them without being a shitshow like 4chan or a hugbox like reddit (where you can't discuss the roommates at all other than very vague references).

Haachama new rap song with a "Red-kun" voice. She's really into rap now. Idk what more scaries for me old mad videos or new rap songs.

Calli better be proud of this firespitting girl

I used to watch Haachama all the time, so kind of sad about this. Ever since she did the bad word english stream with Calli she's constantly throwing in random FAQs and other english swearing. Never been a fan of the edgy swearing constantly vtubers like Coco, Kiara, Calli, etc, so pretty much turning me off of her. Also rap is crap and the whole rap battle stuff she has been doing is not my cup of tea either.
