Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I think working for the government is inherently leftist because it's essentially the thing they love doing the most: telling other people that they know better and that there's no way to do it but their way.

It isn't just that government employees trend left. Republicans show zero interest in ensuring state agencies are run in a way that politically benefits them. A good example is all this crit theory crap. The reason it exists is the left, years ago, gamed the rules of state accreditation agencies to enable pseudo-disciplines that reject essential concepts of academic rigor like objective facts, morally neutral logic, and material evidence to start offering degrees and gaining power. There is no reason Republicans couldn't have stopped this. But when you, in a deep red state, bring up the topic to them of how organizations that they legally control are undermining them at every turn, they look at you like you are asking a cockateel to mow the lawn.

Because it doesn't have anything to do with "improving the business climate and bringing jobs to the state." It's the "Sir, this is a Wendy's," response, because Republican officials legit do not understand why you think the party that controls the government should have anything to do with what is taught in schools owned by the government.

Translation: we're out of ideas for how to budge Manchin, so we might as well discuss fortification

Good I hope so. I want them to suffer such a massive bloodbath in the midterms, that it makes Biden realize that no he's not "poplar with Republicans" or with independents either. Not only that than I want to see reddit trannies wine and complain about it too.

Fortification that, as @Gehenna has pointed out numerous times, they don't have the money to pull off. Build Back Broke is DOA.
This is one of those situations where you know you're going to lose, and it's going to be bad, but you still feel an obligation to fight as hard as possible because you and your buddies are all in it together. Kinda like how Berlin was still defended by elderly men, Hitler Youth, and foreign volunteers long after they knew they had lost the war.

Shove it up your fucking ass you pederast.
They are still obsessed with Sandy Hook given there was Pulse and Las Vegas that were hushed up. I guess it was supposed to be the defining event to change gun laws to like the United Kingdom and Australia, only for the Republican Party at the time to fully block it hard.

There are usually two types of government jobs, which are by appointment or by regular hiring. Most of those folks would be found in appointed positions in my view though the increase in federal government bureaucracy has not been clamped down by the GOP since @Calvin Coolidge was president.

Go to Hell you fucking failed used car salesman. Go ahead and push this now since you havent sunk far enough yet.

and you are correct @mrjokerrager, SH was supposed to be the big event that had all of us crying to turn our guns in. It wasnt just the republicans that stopped it it was the millions of Americans and millions of gun sales that scared the shit out of them.

Great. Now we’re back to arguing over abortion and gun rights again, and again and again and again and again and again, instead of the shit the whole country is in.
I believe the term for that is "deflection".

Nobody in power WANTS to talk about the shit going on right now because they know how bad it is and yet they have no answers for it (or at least answers that will make them look better while still supporting their bottom line). So instead they go "oh hey look, what's over there?!" knowing people will keep themselves occupied with that while they run and hide.

Because no one wants to fix it at the top levels of power.

Are Bannon's ideas of taking over the GOP at the state and local levels working or at least gaining ground?

Biden playing hot potato with student debt relief now, at least according to Psaki. "Yeah we'll totally honor our promise Congress just needs to pass a bill first"

"Congress needs to pass a bill first" > So electing Biden was useless because congress can do this whenever they want, and could have done so for the last two decades. This is just a smokescreen to wipe it off the political slate when they lose their majorities in 2022. "We just need a congressional bill but whoops its all Republicans now guess you can't have that"

I live in Upstate NY, which is not nearly as pozzed as NYC, and I'll probably be looking for some midwestern Red State in 5 years.
I'd do the same if my line of work wasn't concentrated so intensely within the greater NYC area. Hoping I can jump ship to my desired field of choice and work remotely if I'm still stuck in freelance contract hell, but that's a lot of 'ifs' I'm not ready to entertain while I struggle to adjust my current living costs to Brandon's rising inflation fuckery. It would also probably mean I'd have to break off my relationship too, but the cost of living hasn't gotten to that point just yet, and I pray that it never does. I don't even live in NYC proper, but the culture and the cost of living there has bled into most of western New Jersey at this point.

its catch 21 or democrats don't solve problems.
“If you describe a situation as a catch-22, you mean it is an impossible situation because you cannot do one thing until you do another thing, but you cannot do the second thing until you do the first thing.
he could do like trump did it & have it go thru the courts.
he could add as a tax offset which under his scope.
give a comitte the bill say he did.
do same teether ball of congress or president has to do it.
smart move- sue in court on the idea ask the court have ruling based who responsibilty it is to set up, & working.

*communist & npc brain dead idiots will clap & cheer for circus of the question.*

The amazing part about SH was that it almost worked. I remember watching my mom (a rather neoliberal but ultimately centrist lady whose politics are defined by common sense) have her eyes glued to CNN for the entire weekend that followed after the incident saying very loudly that we need to abolish the Second Amendment entirely, a view I think she dropped some months after the story passed but I digress. I remember kids at school saying the same thing and teachers bringing it up at the start of classes. Hell, we had an assembly and everything cause Sandy Hook was just a state over, and if you remotely said anything to the defense of 2A rights, you'd be shouted down by a gaggle of shrill lefty teenage girls.

I didn't really have strong opinions about gun ownership at the time, but holy fuck was my brother incensed by the narrative the MSM was spewing for three goddamn months. They certainly didn't persuade any firearms holders to their cause, let alone teenagers who were saving up to buy their first rifle.

Remember when the year-over-year CPI inflation numbers came out? Turns out it's worse than that :story:

As much as CNN and affiliates may want to cover for Biden, putting out spicy headlines comes first in terms of importance. And what's more spicier than "prices rose 10% this year"?
All the handlers had to do was not spend until after Midterms, but not only did they screw that up, they just won't stop now to boot!

Most shit on Dems' gun control list is dead for the time being. Thank the Summer of Love for that.
