Bully 2 might be announced soon. While it is mainly just leaks and rumors, they do come from somewhat trustworthy sources.

Bully 2 was supposed to be Rockstar's surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2021, only for Rockstar to pull out of doing so at the last minute, according to reputable leaker Tom Henderson. (archive) While some other sources that were thought to be confirming Bully 2 turned out to be for other projects, Henderson is still confident Bully 2 will be announced. (archive)

So what do you guys think? Is this real? Will Bully 2 actually emerge after being cancelled 500 times? Will this game be any good or is Rockstar no longer able to make a quality game?

Would there be a worse cultural climate to make a game called "Bully"?

That said, it doesn't even need to be about bullying all that much, just a general "childhood: the game" vibe, which is what I thought was the most interesting aspect of the original game imo, the stuff that simply made you feel like a kid and not just strictly a "bully"

I'm skeptical because what, if any involvement would Dan Houser have? But there's a ton of potential here, so I'll remain hopeful.

Bully 2: CyberBully
I'm going to predict it's going to be a 1980s or 1990s period piece, inspired by stuff like Stranger Things (just without the supernatural) to sidestep the issues of today's world.

I hope it's another protagonist. For the love of God R*, don't make it online focused.

A college themed Bully would be perfect with its social commentary.
A game about the (old school) college life, like a better version of Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, I've long thought would make for a cool game.

But I'm not sure that should be a sequel and shouldn't be it's own thing, Bully should be about childhood imo.

Never gonna happen, Rockstar is an established brand and is unlikely to take risks now that they have a reputation to uphold and the fucking founder left.

GTA VI is likely to be shit, not to mention such a game wouldn't be acceptable today. Then again GTA games have always been controversial when they were actually worth something.

You'll never top San Andreas, the original not the rerelease.

Normally, I'd be excited with the news that Bully would have a sequel.

I loved the open world formula being implemented in a school setting. Bully wasn't a "school GTA" or "Columbine simulator," it was its own game that could stand head and shoulders with similar open world games.

Being a primary school student trekking though a detailed school and small town outside of school grounds was a delight. Take classes, prank students, do errands, cause mischief, all WITH A coming to age story that anybody could appreciate.

But, since R*'s philosophy has changed with their games, it's worrying to see what they do with a dormant, but beloved franchise in today's day and age.

Bully 2 has been a rumor for years. My prediction is that Tom Henderson here is full of shit, and that Rockstar is going to keep focusing on their more well-known and profitable IPs like RDR and GTA.
He was right about Vanguard and EA Star Wars. As with many rumors, take it with a grind of salt.

Bully is a great example of the saying that sometimes "less is more", exploring a smaller, more intimate map as a kid that was a little more detailed per square inch than the more typical massive GTA map was really cool.

Maybe for a sequel it could be a deal where every NPC in the town is a specific character with a specific routine, taking a page from something like Majora's Mask.

Oh boy, can't wait for Bully: Online where I can play repetitive grindy missions to be able to earn enough money to buy a shiny bicycle that will be outdated and worthless when the next patch adds in a newer, better, more expensive bicycle.
Expect to pay through the nose for wheels, those'll be stolen all the time.

Bully 2 sounds interesting but I wouldn't be surprised fans of the first game found the original more enjoyable. Unlike GTA I just find it difficult to make a sequel that's not only good but also faithful to the original.

Something that has been in my mind for some time is how awesome a Bully game with a Nicktoons or Ed, Edd and Eddy artstyle could be. They could dodge some of the controversy of it being violent by featuring heavily stylized slapstick violence, and it could be really colorful and different from Rockstar's other IPs. In case people didn't know apparently that's what they were going for very, very early in development:

To me that concept art is so intriguing, it looks like they wanted Jimmy to be way younger (judging by the height) and have a sketchbook-like style for the game. Maybe they also wanted the game to be set in the late 90s or early 2000s, that's the vibe I get from his appearance but maybe I'm just reading too much into it. After that they switched to a much more realistic but still somewhat cartoony artstyle:

But in the end they went with the mostly realistic style which everyone knows.

Main protag is gonna be an intelligent diversemale protagonist or a strong and independant female protagonistand the game is gonna take place in a social sciencescollege.
If it actually gets done (Which I sincerely doubt) I believe it's gonna follow in the footsteps of Saints Row, I have no faith in Rock Star after they removed the confederate references in Vice City.
