So I have two personal stories about the ABSOLUTE STATE of Australia right now;

1. Young man in his 20's with a birth defect in his heart of some kind. Had vaccinations mandated by his workplace. Talked to his long time doctor about it. Doctor tells him that he doesn't think the man should get the vaccine because it's too risky, but ALSO tells him that he actually CANNOT EXEMPT HIM despite his professional opinion. The only grounds for a permanent medical exemption are an anaphylactic attack to a jab you've already received. NOTHING ELSE! Fucked up heart? Lungs? Blood? How about the fucking immune system needed for the vaccine to achieve anything in the first place? No? Nothing else! So congratulations guys, you just made a dude with a heart defect jobless.

2. A woman was in Queensland who wanted to travel back to her home state of Western Australia, but the state governor of WA shut the border with QLD as she was about to fly home. Further; on the 5th of February nobody can gain entry at all to WA unless they're vaccinated. She flew to Tasmania to try to get back the long way but she has to stay there for two weeks under no quarantine before she can fly back, at which point she will be quarantined for two weeks. So if Tasmania accumulates Omicron cases or some other gay pretense occurs for a lockdown she'll be stuck there long enough for the 5th of February deadline and then she will be there permanently until she gets vaccinated.

I'm so fucking livid about this bullshit. I want to scream and shout about how this vaccine is demonstrably fucking useless as our medical outcomes get flexed on by SOUTH AFRICA of all places and how even if we did absolutely nothing, no real medical outcome of conseuquence would occur from this limp dick, shit-tier infection that only kills geriatrics and deathfats. A massive inhuman machine is churning, turning, and grinding people to excrement in response to a complete nothingburger.

Friendly reminder that there are some, even in this very thread, who believe that this is all just a happy little accident born from incompetence rather than a focused manifestation of evil.

How does it follow that if severity is halved, and if infections more than double, the number of hospitalisations increases? It just doesn't. If it's mutated into the sniffles now, more people getting it doesn't mean more people are going to be in hospital. It just means more people will have the sniffles. And last I checked, you don't need to be hospitalised for that.

Uncertainty this, uncertainty that. We're so bloody uncertain. But still we're certain that Omicron is the most significant threat we've faced so far.

I live in the only "conservative bastion" of NYC and this week the mask usage went from like 40% to 90%. Its all so tiresome.

I've spent a lot of time in Mexico both as a tourist who flew/drove down there, as well as going there for work. Loved my time there.

Some advice. There are no universal rules or standards for anything in Mexico. Don't trust the info saying you can just throw money at someone to get a "negative" result. That may very well be true, for today. Tomorrow may be totally different. The rules and the orders from state governments and how they filter down to the locals are a fluid set of decrees that change constantly. It's been this way since long before the coof. Many times money does indeed talk, but sometimes it only whispers.

Two things I discovered-

#1- Entering Mexico legitimately from the US is ridiculously easy, coming back legitimately, sometimes is not.

#2- Spanish is a really easy language to pick up, and it would be to your advantage to learn the basics. Also, Cartel activity is still a big thing in certain areas. Don't venture out too far alone or at night.

All the other international traveler rules and security protocols definitely still apply. It's true that tourists are coddled and/or protected because they want people to come back and spend even more money, but that's no guarantee of safety from the Cartel violence.

All that being said, it's still a great place to visit and spend some time. Nice people, good food, and they know the coof hype is bullshit.

This is my third trip to Mexico lol. I really appreciate your taking the time to write this up!

I booked through Expedia and for $50 they have traveler insurance that covers if you're quarantined. The resort also offers rooms for just that scenario. I also have other resources to tap should things go wonky.

I loved seeing the heavily armed guards at the high-end shops in Cancun. San Fran is really taking a page outta their book!

I'd like to point out however that he was describing someone with a congenital heart defect not someone who had suffered a recent bout of myocarditis. You see one is a lifelong malformation of the heart from birth the other is an acute inflammation of the lining that surrounds the cardiac muscle.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Firstly, its a temporary exemption. Secondly its for inflammation of heart muscle tissue, rheumatic disease that inflames heart muscle tissue, or DHF. These are things that people without chronic health conditions can experience, recover from, and presumably take the vaxx again, hence the temporary exemption.

A chronic heart defect is none of these things. Its fucked, forever. Why can he not seek a permanent exemption? Why can't an AIDS patient or someone else chronically immunocompromised seek one? Why cant someone with some sort of clotting disorder seek one? I could go on all fucking day man, does this not seem insane to you?

Why should anyone have to go to their doctor every six months for an exemption? Either they're exempt or not. Why should they have to keep renewing it? Its not chronic heart conditions suddenly go away.
