We already have that sort of because on top of the US constitution, states have their own constitutions. Granted, there has to be checks and balances between state and federal government, but it’s how you end up with states that operate very differently from each other sometimes.

Problem with Balkanization though:
1. The left won't fucking play fair. They'll orchestrate full on global economic sanctions on red state unions on par with what happened in Iraq and in North Korea these days to reduce red state territory to 3rd world poverty levels so they can be forced to join the blue state union as vasals
2. The left won't abide by borders once they realize they need material, water, and other resources in Red States. Which means constant war as they try and conquer Red State territory for their own usage.
3. The left will bring back walls ala Berlin Wall to prevent people from fleeing blue state dystopias while also building walls to further the first point to trap red states to cause starvation and deprivation to force them to surrender to the blue states.

I think the US is most likely to go the way of the Roman Republic, with political violence and corruption becoming commonplace while the political class just grows more and more out of touch with the concerns of the common people as their only interest is in growing richer and more powerful even if in order to do so they have to go against the laws of the Republic and the well being of the citizenry.

They wanted him out the moment the big government shutdown over the Wall funding happened. Null mentioned it in a mad at the internet one time I think. Trump was doing great up until that happened. That was the moment the Uniparty decided he was a threat and needed to be stopped at all costs.
