Dungeons & Dragons: Wizards of the Coast Removes Problematic Lore - Wizards of the Coast continues to excise potentially problematic content from Dungeons and Dragons books to address issues of system racism.

Is Wizards covering for a scandal or something? Or is this just retarded corporate shit?
It could be said that the changes are unnecessary and do nothing but remove content and lore from the game, but it is important to remember that not everyone might feel that way. If making changes like this allows even a very small number of Dungeons & Dragons players to feel safer or more comfortable with the content in the game, it should at least be considered as worthwhile.

Holy shit you massive fucking imbecile, that's not how it works. If we did, we'd have to consider removing all other ethnicities of human to make hyper /pol/ player's better. They're technically a very small number too dumbass. Or what about extreme cases where someone has a deep seated fear of an entire human race/religion stemming from sexual abuse? What if harder core muslims decided to start playing but decide that we need to eliminate some basic PG-13 elements or remove single mother unmarried NPCs?

Unless you somehow play the game competitively, house rules exist for a reason motherfucker. Take the base game and either keep or omit shit. It isn't hard.

My friend has been talking about wanting to get into D&D lately, but seeing shit like this makes me think what's the point
There's a lot of tabletop RPGs out there my friend. The sea is vast and there is stuff not adulterated yet.

Example: if an Orc constitutes 13% of the party, their stat lines and traits should reflect a propensity for contributing 52% of DPS.
You know, this is the absolute worst part of the sanitation. Nobody, and I mean nobody, ever associated orcs and blacks prior to everyone screeching about how orcs are actually black people. And now that they've declared orcs are blacks... its open season for the jokes. And no, soyboy "journalists" aren't people.

Pretty sure Durotar is located right by The Barrens which is basically Africa.

I mean Warcraft Orcs were not based around African tribes but they were close enough in a few instances but also shared a lot of similarities with the Mongols too. Warcraft orcs also used to be brown before they became green and corrupted. You also had the movie version of the Uruk-hai from LOTR which were all dark skinned savages.

Basically people have been doing it for decades and now every non-white character is now a minority and Orcs being violent means it portrays minorities as violent.

40k Orkz are an entirely different thing though, they're clearly share no characteristics outside of Skin color and speak with a Cockney accent.

Your one method of selling handbooks and expansions was ADDING lore to a game of make-believe.
At this point, why not turn your entire game system into bland cardboard?

Might as well kill yourself faster. Twitch streams are only going to carry you so far, especially if the streamers get bored of your shit and move to something already SJW pandering-effectively without being too shitty.

Until the pointless stink kicked up over an alleged resemblance I never once considered orcs (especially those cribbing from Blizzard) to be blacks. Now I guess it's canon so Warchief Da'kir'on also moonlights at the local Taco Bell.

Genuinely flummoxed by the lore change to Beholders and Mindflayers. They're literal monsters and they don't resemble anyone. Your average tabletop player has more in common with gelatinous cubes than a fucking Beholder.

"Many D&D players are confused by WotC's choice to remove content regarding beholders and mind flayers in particular, as the two races are categorically defined as "aberrations" in the game. Aberrations are typically otherworldly, monstrous entities with very little in common with the humanoids of the world, and typically possessed of an alien mind-set or way of thinking. This separation could reasonably exclude them from the need for sensitive treatment, but their lore bestows these monsters with behaviors that have the potential to be seen as intersecting with misguided ideas that people have held in real world history. In the case of beholders, parallels could be drawn to concepts of racial supremacy, and mind flayers practice the enslavement of other races. Although these creatures are clearly characterized as evil and monstrous, Wizards of the Coast determined that it would be better to cut down on the potential for problems that could stem from including such ideas with monsters in Dungeons & Dragons."

This whole paragraph here really pisses me off.

Are we really saying that making a few fantasy aliens in a make-believe game evil is really going to incite real world prejudice? Do they really think people are that stupid and influential that they're going to use some D&D monsters to justify or develop racist believes? I mean, I don't recall anyone turning into a raging bigot due to the aliens in freaking Independence Day or because of the demons in DOOM.

And I'm sorry, but if the fact that Mind Flayers and Beholders are traditionally evil is enough to offend you, then all I can say is you are weak and aren't going to last more then five minutes away from a computer screen. It's enough to make me wonder how some of these people survive the day-to-day.
You're not allowed any escapes from your prison, even imaginary ones.

Why even play as an orc if you just want to act like a pussy elf, furry wolfen or human faggot who doesn't even like to pillage and slaughter? These people really just seem to want everything to be queer and sanitized.

Its even worse than the mothers who thought D&D was the Devil's work. At least then the changes they brought about through their criticisms were incredibly short lived, and outside of changes to fiends, the assholes monsters were still allowed to act like asshole monsters.
"Dare you enter my Magical Realm?"
