J&J's probably wishing they had more social capital with the feds right about now. They have a long track record of being bizarrely stubborn and almost belligerent when things start getting spicy.
For example, the oxy litigation involved more than just Purdue, it ended up dragging in around half a dozen major pharma companies, J&J included. J&J was the only one who refused to settle and forced it to trial. (They lost. An Oklahoma judge absolutely raped them.) Both rounds of Risperdal litigation went to trial (where they lost badly), the original "dead grandmas" case after an attempt at negotiating a settlement blew up, in what my impression at the time was "Fuck you I'll see you in court! No, fuck YOU, I'll see YOU in court!". Don't know about the "giving autistic kids bitch tits" and cancer baby powder cases, but those both went to trial, and given the other ones, I assume they followed the same pattern of getting froggy and any chance at settlement going out the window. J&J lost all those cases, btw.
Going out on a limb here based on nothing but some sideline views and tequila, but I'm going to guess that this 20 year pattern of behavior hasn't exactly made them any friends. Add in how many past and present FDA guys are now Pfizer or Moderna men, and it doesn't take a lot of tinfoil to start getting ideas on why J&J's the one getting singled out here, despite their two big mRNA competitors also being seemingly loaded with circulatory system side effects.

The frenzy over J&J's vaccines mirrors their reaction to the Astrazenica vaccines last year. The media bleeted that Astrazenica vaccines were unsafe because of blood clots and rallied for its removal, but when Pfizer and Moderna's vaccines did the same thing, it was radio silence.

They want to completely shit can the Adenovector vaccines, J&J and Astra Zeneca, and move completely to the mRNA jabs. All this is showing is who has won the PR war and bribed the most politicians. Expect also to see the more traditional second generation vaccines like Novavax having difficulties being approved because of muh Omicron.
This is such a bald faced and blatant lie that it's actually hard for me to process Almost every single person who's been infected with Omicron Covid has at least been double jabbed, many of them triple. There has been no hospitalisation or mortality data released for the new variant let alone comparing the vaxxed to purebloods.
Here's the UK's variant monitoring report that the WHO and the rest of the world are citing when they claim that the vaccines 'remain effective'.
Nineteen percent (23) of Omicron index cases gave rise to a secondary household case, compared to 8.3% (6,05of Delta index cases. A multivariable logistic regression model found the adjusted odds ratio for household transmission from an Omicron index case was 3.2 (95%CI 2.0-5.0, p <0.001) compared to Delta index cases.
At least twice as infectious as Delta with prolonged contact indoors. 85-90% of all Covid cases occur between members of the same household.
I've posted these before. These graphs are the estimated efficacy of the vaccines in protection from symptomatic disease in receiving 1 and 2 doses of the AZ vaccine only and with an mRNA booster (left) and 1, 2 and 3 doses of he Pfizer vaccine (right). 0 is the baseline i.e. if no vaccine had been given. The black dots are effectiveness against Delta, grey dots Omicron. Note how they're calculating the effectiveness is a black box, there's so few infected unvaxxed and no confirmed hospital cases, apart from the totally fit and healthy anti-vaxxer who definitely died a couple of days ago with the Omicron screaming that he wished he'd got the jab, that there can't be a representative control group to base these numbers off.
Anyway the graphs look OK for the Pfizer vaccine, except they're not. A 40% protection against severe disease for the double jabbed means they're worthless. It looks better with the booster 75% effectiveness, with a confidence interval of as high as 85 and as low as 55%. As a comparison the flu vaccine is around 60% effective Even worse for the AZ vaccine, a negative 60% to 0 (which I'm hoping is a result of the small sample size) effectiveness to 70% with the booster with a confidence interval of 85% to 40%. These ranges are testimony to the very small sample size and frankly the worthlessness of the data.
All this comes with a big giant disclaimer that I don't know their definition of 'symptomatic' and I don't know if this is a straight comparison between Delta and Omicron Covid. If it is then these numbers are way, way worse than they appear given the much milder symptom set being reported with Omicron. Reports are that most Omicron cases are extremely mild if not asymptomatic, if they're basing their numbers for the new variant on Delta morbidity data then for sure vaccine enhanced infection is occurring and their baseline assumptions are wildly off. However much more likely they're just winging it.
The attack rate we're seeing with Omicron Covid combined with the mutagenesis in the spike component making it LESS efficient at cellular invasion can only be explained by a complete escape from the neutralising antibodies in the vaccinated. If the vaccines were doing anything we wouldn't be seeing the R0 twice that of Delta, but we are.
So TLDR Omicron Covid has an extremely low virulence. It's been around for long enough that we would know if it was causing severe disease and it obviously isn't. There's a slight proviso that we don't know, yet, if it will impact heavily vaccinated populations differently than in South Africa, which has very low vaccine uptake. The data that's been released so far in regards to vaccine effectiveness is all over the place.
There's no point in getting a booster if you've been jabbed. Likely you will be more prone to catching the virus than an unvacinated person but your relative risk of severe disease will be very low unless you're a deathfat on chemo or extremely old, then go ahead I guess even though the vaccines don't work at all in these groups. The risk of ADE (which is maybe what we're seeing in the left hand graph) is possible but it would have been showing up in rampant and aggressive illness by now and obviously it isn't. I think all the media sperging and government scare mongering is to get as many sleeves rolled up for the booster as possible before it dawns on people that this is not going to be much of anything. I'm sure they'll credit the vaccines with saving us if there's no big sickness wave and so it'll be all set up for the 2nd booster in the New Year.

His comparison is kinda bullshit though. In the military such a thing isn't a mandate, it's an order. Willfully disobeying a lawful order makes you subject to Uniform Code of Military Justice. IOW, the law, and it's very different from civilian law. Guarantee you these Marines weren't just "kicked out". They were subject to all sorts of harsh and punitive penalties, not to mention outright derision and harassment before they were discharged.
The process would not have been quick or pleasant, and depending on the type of discharge, they can have problems that follow them into civilian life. The other thing is, most civilian jobs don't require you to go through an extended period of hellish conditions to qualify for said job, and most civvy jobs don't demand the level of perfection and discipline. Refusing a lawful order in any branch is a very big deal, and getting the boot because of it is even bigger. Even if you're in a non-combat arms role and had a relatively short 6-8 weeks of basic followed by a school where there's no real risk to life or health, you've still got a lot invested.
You'd really have to have one hell of a reason for doing it. Have a friend locally who just quit her nursing job of 20+ years over not getting the shot. She just packed her shit, said adios motherfuckers, and was done with the whole process in a short afternoon. Nowhere near the same for people getting the boot from the service. But, Palmer is a tool so ignorance is to be expected.

Two Americas indeed. I'm in an extremely rural and red part of my state, and a leftist rag of a newspaper downstate recently did a story on my region, even naming the town closest to where I live as the least "vaxxed" town in the least "vaxxed" county in the state, like it was some sort of bad thing, and we're all a bunch of knuckle-dragging anti-allvaxx pariahs.
68% of the people in said town and the surrounding area, myself included, are 100% unvaxxed. What they failed to mention, is that we have zero mask requirements, nobody fucking wears them, the shots are shunned and there's no distancing bullshit, yet we have not had a death with and/or from covid for going on 14 months now. Not a single one. The town 300 miles away where the liberal rag paper is published is 97% vaxxed, all the drones are masked and distanced, and the hospitals are supposedly overrun with covid "cases".
That town is also a small island of dystopian blue surrounded by a sea of life is normal red. It's like a different country. A bunch of unarmed self-righteous scared shitless leftists cowering in their homes. They're pathetic, but their fear serves a purpose. It keeps them the fuck out of my part of the state.
The prevailing theory as to why my area hasn't had a covid death for over a year is simple. It's natural immunity from a wave of a mostly mild cold-like illness (probably covid) that happened here back in early 2020, and the fact that we took some simple and practical measures to protect the elderly. Covid was barely a thing. It never really took hold and is definitely long since over. Life is good here.
ETA: You'll probably appreciate the fact that a good portion of my plot of land in the boonies is taken up by a 6 lane 200yd shooting range. Another red state rural benefit.
