Eh, there are some great steakhouse chains out there. Like anything, you get what you pay for, and the decent ones command a hefty price. I think the finest steakhouse that Jack has been to is Morton’s.

Ignoring how he's not doing shit besides sitting on the couch and watching Blues Clues or some other shows designed for small children or people with special needs.

Edit: pretty sure jack didn't deforest it thoroughly before throwing it in his cooker. Goose and duck can def be cooked to a mid rare temp, but the fats won't render at temp nor would the skin be crispy which is why they're more difficult to cook than a chicken.

Why do I think the goose wasn't defrosted? The apple still had a crunch when he bit into it. That shit should be boiled potato soft after cooking at 400/325. And starkly pink center where he took his slice. Which was surface level to the bird an almost all skin with how he cut into it. He stuck is probe in way too shallow in the front of the bird (an area that was probably defrosted).

RIP to Goose. You didn't deserve this.

Also fun fact: The breast meat is really pink, which is slightly raw, but the legs require longer to cook from every recipie I've seen...meaning the legs are guaranteed to be raw.

If that's the bottle he got then he got VS which is the lowest grade and not the one that the recipe called for. Or at least what I'm pretty sure it called for, Mushbrain mangled "VSOP" into "PVOS", but it's hard to tell exactly since this time he doesn't provide the recipe at all. And even though I'm sure he was corrected on his Facebook post he still thinks French Brandy == Cognac when there are other varieties as well such as Armagnac.

Yeh I winced as soon as I heard the crunch when he bit into the apple, typical Jack borderline burns the outside and doesn't cook the inside.

Also the stroke brain is in full showing right off the bat. "I do cook with alcohol -beer, wine and the hard stuff" cut to 30 seconds later "I very seldom cook with alcohol". Which is it you stroked out spaz?

I’m a huge Capital Grille fan. People ask me what my favorite steakhouse is in DC (since we have a shitload of them here), and a lot are surprised when I say it’s capital grille. “…but that’s a chain.” Fuck yeah it’s a chain, bitch, but it’s fucking delicious. It’s amazing that it’s a Darden joint (Olive Garden; Longhorn) since it’s so damn good.

That’s sort of the weird thing with steakhouses - some of the best are chains. There’s probably four dozen steakhouses in this town, and virtually all of the best have locations in other cities.

Yeah, most bottles of hennesy have a very distinct look and aren't designed like a hip flask. Those designs are typically reserved for the cheapest shit. Now, playing devil's advocate, you wouldn't want to cook with a $1,600 bottle of Paradis. This type of recipe would be fine with cheap booze.

Even really good restaurants will almost always use cooking grade alcohols because it literally doesn't matter. The expensive finer notes are all lost the moment they get heated. The most expensive shit is high proof liquor for flambé

Poor goose didn't deserve what happened to it. A bird like a goose you need to score the skin to get it crispy and render out some of that fat. It looks like absolute dogshit and of course he chooses the lowest grade of cognac out there. Granted if you're just cooking with it I get it but FFS it's marked "Very Special" on the label meaning it's a "VS" grade or the lowest grade as far as Cognac goes. And you know he drank it all once the camera was off like the recovering alcoholic he is.

Or even just ordinary brandy. It's like Champagne. You can have French Champagne from the Champagne region and sparkling wine from any other region. You just can't call it champagne.

Armagnac is a different beast though. Yes it starts the same way as Cognac / brandy but it's distilled in a different way which gives it a bigger flavor profile. It's been described as being more forward and "punchy" as it punches you in the mouth instead of slowly lingering. It also tends to be higher in alcohol. But a good armagnac is great especially since it tends to be cheaper than a comparable cognac.

But Mushbrain is being a complete mushbrain in that he thinks all French brandy = cognac. I wonder what he'd call a Calvados? Or any other Eau de Vie / fruit brandy.
 
And which extension would this be? Since Jewtube took them away I'm curious to see what the actual ratings on these things is.
