Just bought Metal Gear Rising. Great game. 5 euro on steam rn because of holiday sale. It's been on my wishlist for a long time and I wanted to see how I'd compare to Phil. I decided to play on Normal instead of Hard first, just like Phil, and have reached the following conclusion:

The man is literaly mentally impaired. It is beyond me how he managed to die so many times especially during boss fights. Locking on, controlling the cuts in blade mode, general combat. I had no problem with these whatsoever. There were parts where I felt like the game was actually TOO EASY on Normal.

Next up, I'll try DMC, however I will no longer play on the same difficulty as Phil did. Instead, I'll do a harder one.

You know better. He would go to his therapist on his break. He doesn't have time on his 'day off'. Send money

What kind of braindead, Ivy-league, no-good-no-street-smarts therapist hasn't entered the 3rd millenium and started therapy by e-mail ? I don't have time, lady, I have a successful business to run, full-time, 6 days a week !

I wonder what a true full robust redemption ark would look like for DSP.
Never going to happen unless he pulls a complete 180. He's in denial over anything he's ever done. He didn't do anything wrong and if he did, you should just forgive him and he's changed. But he has not changed, he's just scared shitless of saying anything that may provoke the left. When he is on autopilot, he still makes "racist" jokes and he drops "hateful slurs" like it's second nature to him. And on top of that he has no idea what redemption would actually entail for himself. For a redemption arc to happen, Phillip Burnell would have to stop behaving like Phillip Burnell, and we all know that won't happen.
$164 after 4 hours of his XMas begathon seems pretty low. How did he do last year?
Over his main "gameplay" stream he made just under 500 bucks in tips. The following ATK made 132 in tips. He is definitely behind, as by the 4th hour last year he was at over 350.

The bankruptcy did drive away a bunch of the 50-bit bitches, but the whales have always known they're paying for gacha and gin, and they don't care.
i just can't wrap my head around the kind of mindset it would take to be able to just throw thousands of dollars away, not just on phil, but any streamer period. none of these whales are rich despite what they want you to believe. it's just retarded to spend yourself into debt to "own the trolls".

Take Six70Two as an example. He did a $6.72 superchat and Phil didn't even answer his message at first. He legit said "Why are you doing superchats now? You used to send tips. Don't you know that he have different hats as rewards?" or something like that.

The dude tipped him $6.72 right after this.

Those people don't think. They just act as impulsive as their leader.

I would argue that they were driven away after the departnering, when Phil discovered how many of his audience had no interest in trusting him with their personal information and he lashed out by banning anyone who brought up pwdubz. His decision to stay on twitch after the loss of his partnership meant that he couldn't convince them to move to superchats. Plus his (unintentional) admitting the bank leaks were real turned away most of the smaller tippers so all he really has left are a bunch of whales that aren't in it for him.

Six70two also mentioned being promised gin in his SC which led Phil on a mini gin rant. Something about it's a meme the shithead detractors came up with and dropped the gem that he hasn't had gin in his house in 2 years. I've got a better chance of winning the lotto then no gin being in his house. We've all seen the bank statement leaks so unless Phil has switched his drink of choice the horse has developed a drinking problem (not that I blame her)

One of my favorite phil playthroughs because the boss fight rage is palpable and all because he refuses to practise and understand the blade mode mechanic that's required to finish the bosses off. At times you can hear him wiggling the analogue stick around violently like a tard.. it's too good. :story:

Every time I check DDM he's sitting at atleast $150. How the hell does he do it? I really thought the bankruptcy was the end.
If there ever was an arc that could have ended Phil, it was the bank leaks arc.

Whales now have absolute certainty that they're supporting a scammer who cried poor while spending thousands on gacha and takeouts.

If that didn't end Phil's career as a streamer, nothing will. The only thing that remains is a death by a thousand cuts: every whale that dies/finds a girlfriend/gets treated for their retardation is a massive hit to Phil's income.

What, did he move on to Everclear?
No, Catch Fire.

Really.

depending on the DMC game yer not really gonna have a choice. for DMC5 at least "Normal" difficulty is quite literally the tutorial, you need to beat it to unlock anything higher and the game is set up like this for a specific reason, higher difficulties have diffint enemy layouts from normal/bosses have more varied move sets.

seeing Phil try to be funny and crack jokes is so painful. He tries so hard to be this likable personality.
And he doesn't TRY that hard. We've all known assholes that are likable assholes, but Phil doesn't fall into that demeanor. I mean, if you know you're an asshole, least try to have a likable trait. "Yeah, Todd is a prick most of the time, but if you need a favor, he'll come and help." Phil is "Well, if you can't help me with this, that just proves that our friendship means NOTHING to you." kind of asshole.

Which leads me to this, and RavensDolphin brought up a good point: Phil CAN be charming when he WANTS to be. Keyword: when he wants to be, but only if it's something that he wants. He can put in the effort to shower daily, shave, and actually be a likable asshole. However, effort and Phil aren't exactly on speaking terms. Because of that, we get the Phil we all know and laugh at today.

Hi, Phil!

The man is literaly mentally impaired.
He seriously is, and he really should've been dragged back to CT by his parents. No joke, he has no business being allowed to run his own life, he's too mentally unwell for the two people who raised him to let him waste away like this. Though I'm sure Linda is handicapped not by delusions but by the fact that she's just not savvy enough to do what little it would take to see what her son is lying to her about. That, or she did, and simply gave up. Either way, she should be ashamed of herself. I may not think quite as little of her as before, but she still fucked up.

And Phil is going to be ended by his spending, not his income suddenly vanishing out of thin air. It will dwindle, no doubt, over time, but his inability to adjust accordingly will be what makes that matter.
Something about it's a meme the shithead detractors came up with and dropped the gem that he hasn't had gin in his house in 2 years.
On one hand, any time Phil lies and says that us detractors exaggerated or straight up made something up, it's auto sus whatever else he adds onto that bullshit, but on the other hand, two years is oddly specific for the guy who routinely exaggerates things like a child. "How many fucking Blanka mains are there right now, like a million?" "Dude, I haven't looked at the chat in like a hundred years!" "Finally they called me again for like the ninth, tenth time (after saying a smaller number earlier)"

It's also oddly close to when Katherine stopped being anything more than a ghost who may or may not actually be there.
