Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Wait, what? N-no! Biden can't be the surrender president! First, he loses to stone age goatfuckers and street shitters, and now to an enemy you can't even see?

Really hoping this is all a goalpost shift to "Live with COVID, goys."

I play a shitload of Stellaris, and oddly enough most of my playthroughs either seem to be as benevolent-ish trade federations or evil megacorps, and also as raid loving spcae Vikings.

Here's an alien first contact scenario that I think is novel and a more lighter example than the one depicted in They Live - What if humanity is contacted by an interstellar civilization that isn't some Star Trek-esque altruistic Federation nor a galactic empire looking to conquer and enslave us but a galactic scale mega corporation/trade federation that is only interested in seeing the Earth as a new emerging market to buy their crap that nobody needs? Having purely capitalist motives and seeing humans as nothing more than new nascent consumers would definitely smooth over diplomatic relations with governments while understandable in human terms, and especially moreso if they're willing to pay a fair prices for resources and willingness to engage in alien foreign investment. The Earth would probably be besieged by alien management consultants trying to make a quick buck, but at least it beats alien armies arriving with dreams of conquest. Also better to be viewed in their eyes as a line in some alien balance sheet under the heading of "new markets" than "new slave worlds". It would be awesome as well if it turns out all galactic civilizations end up developing some form of digital currency tied to energy and it wouldn't be too hard on our end to patch our own cryptocurrencies to use with theirs.

Also the technology and cultural transfer would be massive, especially if their rivals start to show up and sweeten the deal to trade with them.. During the 1800's the Plains Indians would play arms runners against each other to try to get better deals on arms and ammunition if they refused to hand over what they wanted and I could see humans doing the same.
Shit, if what you're detailing here is accurate (assuming aliens exist and are what the UFOs are about) then they've been basically doing to us what companies like Google have been doing forever now and are merely studying us for fucking advertising data, and worse yet were waiting until we figured out crypto so that they could just patch us into their markets.

Imagine the reaction if some gray alien looking motherfucker comes on national television and says "yeah we're here because you guys finally figured out the blockchain". Damn.

If Biden is admitting that the push for a federal mandate is out of his hands, what does that entail for states like New York and California? Are they just gonna be allowed to institute the same vaccine mandates instead? As far as I can tell, both DeBlasio and Hochul tout the mandates as being legally enforceable within New York and will hold up to whatever lawsuit is poised to challenge them.

It means they can't rely on federal taxpayers or law enforcement to fund and implement their mandates for them.

They legit might win that lawsuit, so I fully expect the Blue States to create the same vaccine mandate while the Red States do nothing expect get more and more people moving in.

DeBlasio is out in 5 days, but I expect Hochul and Eric Adams to keep mandating like crazy.

So Biden says that its up to the States now but still kept the Federal Mandate until it (hopefully) dies in the court? What a pussy.
Biden's Catch-22 is that he's gotta ramp the Covid shit down while keeping the Branch Covidians docile. He really can't afford to let the progressives accuse him of killing Americans in the name of keeping the Dow Jones green - BBB's failure alone gives the progressive and establishment wings more than plenty of fuel to fight each other. What you can expect to see much more of in the future is Biden and the administration acting awkwardly, bumbling around trying to piss off the smallest number of people possible.

My personal prediction: the private employers mandate most likely gets struck down by SCOTUS. Following this, all of Biden's other mandates either get winded back or smothered to death by Circuit judges. He makes no effort to try to force the issue and hopes that people will eventually just forget he tried to threaten their jobs.

Eric Adams has already said that he intends to continue to enforce the mandates in NYC. Hochul will probably continue her regime (definitely so if the federal mandate suit is thrown out and she's given free reign to force every New Yorker to either get the jab or leave), but I can also see the very slimmest chance of her backtracking some of her measures because a ton of counties Upstate have either said they won't be enforcing her policies or have claimed they don't have the resources to do so anyway.

I feel like NYC is a lost cause tbh, but I hope I'm wrong.

Yep, NYC is fucked and Upstate is ready to tell Hochul to shove those mandates up her ass.

The problem with an interstellar trade scenario is that unless there's some FTL technology out there (and even then it would have to be pretty cheap), there's almost nothing that is worth shipping such distances. The same building blocks of the universe are presumably everywhere. Even precious things like gold would not be worthwhile transporting interstellar because they can be found more locally. Gold didn't form on Earth during some earlier, hotter phase of Earth's formation. It was formed in the heart of stars - it can exist in asteroids, other planets of our solar system, etc. What about tech? Well again, unless you have Star Wars style interstellar travel then by the time you get your tech there it would have been quicker to build it at the destination. Pretty much only information is worth transferring and that doesn't need ships to transport it.

It would, however, be hilarious if aliens landed just to see their reactions when we followed their request to "take us to your leader" and introduced Joe Biden. The aliens would be all: "These earthlings, their troll game is strong..."

I don't know which counties are enforcing or not enforcing the vaccine mandates but there has been absolute mutiny on the mask mandate, everywhere. Even Democrat county officials in very Democrat suburbs of New York City are refusing to enforce it. Sadly, I don't think non-compliance on masks equates to non-compliance on vaccines.

I'd rate you optimistic if I could. If the state can't enact their agenda, they'll just rely on private companies loyal to the cause to do it for them. Major companies, not just hospitals and airlines, have fired people for refusing the jab for months, and even if we legislated protections for the unvaccinated tomorrow it wouldn't prevent the people who were fired from getting turned down for jobs, let alone being reinstated at their old ones. We already see hiring staff turn down candidates for being white and we see the same thing happening now at ivy league schools for Asian kids. Nothing is stopping employers from asking applicants if they're vaccinated and quietly rejecting them if they admit they aren't.

I was referring to the mask mandate regarding Hochul, sorry for not making that clear. It's entirely possible that she will enforce vaccine mandates the moment she's able to get the green light for it on a state level, and what's worrying is that may be an entirely legal avenue of policy to pursue.

I don't disagree that plenty of private businesses are willing to enforce it themselves. It's the biggest issue after the massively intrusive federal mandates, because unfortunately there is very little recourse for the un-sufficently-vaccinated.

Are you being stupid on purpose when you randomly indulge in your TDS, or does it come naturally? The 40k God Emperor is not a god.

Imagine taking a meme seriously.

GEOTUS was a hilarious joke, much better than Q tbh. However, the idea of both of them, their humor notwithstanding, just revealed the inertia of the supporters.

If there is a legal argument to be made against private employers mandating a vaccine, I pray that someone, somewhere, versed in legalese is able to bring it to national attention.
