i'm still really curious as to how a person making almost 10k a month on patreon has been cancelled

what does being cancelled mean at this point? i'm so confused. is she cancelled because she herself decided to quit the internet?

I think its because she made that Mask Off response that opened her up to more criticism by bringing up elements of her past and history that nobody but a small sector was talking about and that opened the floodgates to trolls and criticism that couldn't really be distiguished as authentic or hyperbolic. Essentially any content she would make the conversation would immediately revert back to her controversies rather than the content she was producing. Which in turn caused her to have these existential meltdowns. And she, as a self admitted recovering addict who has struggled with alcohol and other substances to cope, I can see with someone with that personality type and flaws would react this way. However, she handled this extremely poorly. In fact it felt very knee jerk. She should've taken a long hiatus. with the Mask Off video and this essay. She did essentially cancel herself.

There's something very funny about her making a post about quitting youtube and not being an internet presence anymore but still smugly tweeting after the fact. You know, on twitter. The place the entire controversy that apparently made her life a living hell is propagated. Lindsay really can't help herself, there's no way she doesn't come crawling back.

However lets pretend that Lindsay really does disappear for good and her paypiggies stop, where is she going to work? Best Buy? What skills does she have other than being terminally online?

She wasn't cancelled in that that rabid Twitter twats couldn't make enough people stop watching her videos or give her Patreon bucks but it sounds like they've been continuing to heap harassment on her for the past several months and they feel fully justified in it because she's white and doesn't work at McDonald's.

One might feel bad if Lindsay Ellis hadn't cultivated such behavior and her entire group of friends has encouraged that retarded "punching up" crap.

She only realized how fucked up it is when it was herself in the crosshairs and that a lot of her "friends" cut her off and quit speaking to her because they didn't want the witch hunt coming after them either for not excommunicating her.

I still can't get over that her employees have to read her Patreon to find out they're getting fired because their boss had a Twitter melty over a stupid cartoon dragon movie.

I have zero doubts she's gonna get over 10k before lunch. I'm willing to bet that she'll get over 11k by midnight. Not only does she get more money from this but she allegedly has fired all of her staff through a paywalled blog post so that's even less overhead for her! Considering I hear nothing but praise about her these days I can't imagine the backlash was that severe. If Pewdiepie can have several major news outlets decry him as a racist, then continue to consistently make content, why can't she get over some fucking trolls?
