Granted I haven’t watched all of the seasons, but I’ve been thinking that if they had just left Jazz alone he may have not even turned out to be gay. Dude has absolutely no fashion sense whatsoever. I'm very late on this, but I was watching Exulansic's video about the episode where Jazz goes to a dietitian, and was floored at how his family and even the dietitian treated him, even though I know I shouldn't be.

Rather than retreading how Jazz's family has fucked him over with hormones, I want to talk more about the eating disorder portion of the episode. Both his mother and grandmother talk about being shamed over their bodies despite there being nothing wrong with them but what Jazz takes away is that his family has always struggled with food. Ignoring the hypocritical component of what his family is doing to Jazz by trooning him out, it is very sad that Jazz doesn't get that it's not because his family has a record of eating disorders, but that the people around them are damaging. I can't say that Jeanette or her mother would have struggled with eating disorders with or without "outside influence," but as always, the blame is shifted onto Jazz and away from the people around him. Though it is true that Jazz is culpable for his own weight to an extent, nobody else wants to acknowledge that they are the same people who forced Jazz's grandmother to go on uppers to lose weight, but much worse.

The dietitian is abhorrent. Holding a struggle session for Jazz by announcing his weight to a room of judging faces flies directly in the face of treating eating disorders. If Jazz was a minor, then I can understand Jeanette sitting in and being made aware of how much he weighs. I think Jazz was either pressured by his family/TLC to take everyone into the dietitian's office or has become so used to everyone being apart of every private moment of his life that it didn't cross his mind to not have them there. But he deserves privacy, and though it would make sense for his family to come in to hear the diet plan if Jazz should choose, they should not have been there the entire time. How this dietitian can call herself an eating disorder specialist repulses me.

His family is the worst environment for someone with an eating disorder, not even counting everything else wrong with Jazz. The way they speak about Jazz and his body is pure shame - the same exact shame that his mother and grandmother owe their own eating disorders to.
