Big-brained chu questions the definition of "disease":

The definition of "disease" is really simple. 1) The condition must have (or strongly believed to have) a biological origin, and 2) The condition is something bad because impairs your well-being. Lactose intolerance is a disease when your diet contains lactose, while it is merely a "variation" when your diet doesn't have it. Also, it's so cute he thinks "mutant" is an insult, as every living creature in the world is a mutant.

"Cathedral" is an elaborate abstraction while "patriarchy" and "systemic racism" are not.

To James the V: knowledge is not in itself infantile (but metaphors can be), but more important, it is the judgement about whether it is appropriate to diverge such knowledge, or to use such metaphor, in a certain situation that betrays one's puerility.

Bob has spent the post half hour getting into a slap fight with comedian Michael Malice. It didn't end well.

I saw. I came. I lol'd.

Does Michael read the thread? First, him replying to Bob at all is interesting especially considering what Bob said didn't make a whole lot of sense. Second, to have his reply be a poke at Bob's beetus, well I mean it's not a secret nor is it the deepest of lore but some rando who gets hit by Bob's drive by posting shouldn't be aware of it. Lastly he flat out calls him a lolcow which, as Bob and his ilk would like to say, is the language of the enemy.

Lastly lastly, someone pulled the covers over his head.

I sure that it had nothing to do with him getting zero support.

And you 100% give away your "A" material away for free you stupid asshole. Other than your one actual book, please make the argument that that was your best work, you have no paywall and put everything online in the hopes that someone will sub to your patreon. How's that working for ya big guy?

Oh god, I can't stand when he does this shit.

Knowing that Little Monsters exists doesn't make you part of some exclusive club, Bob. You are not the keeper of some arcane knowledge.

People know about that movie. Even if they haven't actually seen it, Nostalgia Critic reviewed it a fucking decade ago, and he still has more influence than you ever did.

I would wager that the Nostalgia Critic has lost more influence than Robert has ever had.

Apart from gravitational influence, because you know, Robert's fat.

And it's gonna be fucking awful if the MCU becomes this "old vs young" bullshit. If that happens, I'm gonna automatically side with the old characters, because I don't give a shit about these legacy characters.

And it's stupid how Bob bitches about Gwen Stacy having to always be Spiderman's girlfriend who dies, but he wants to double down on Carol Danvers only ever being interesting because she gave Rogue, a much more interesting character, cool super powers.

Quelle surprise. Bob knows jack shit about the CBC and misrepresents Tara Henley's arguments. For burgerlanders who are not in the know, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is a crown corporation that takes in about $1.2B (likely more) in government funding and has been seeing its ratings collapse in recent years. This is not limited to them, the news media in Canada has been imploding as companies like Facebook have been cutting into their advertising revenue, leading to the slow death of local news to the point where the federal government is actually subsidizing newspapers, etc. The CBC is insulated from market forces and thus pursues stories that are largely irrelevant to the Canadian public. You can fit the number of people who care that Tagalog is not gender-neutral into a small linen closet. Unlike Bob, I actually read Henley's article and she reveals much about the CBC's work environment and hiring practices, which lean heavily on racial profiling and I grow increasingly supportive of privatizing the network.

...and the funny thing it is, Tara Henley is an admitted left-winger and it says much when she says that the CBC is too radical.

As for Bob moving to Canada, let him settle in the GTA with its inflated housing market. If he wants some of that sweet, sweet healthcare (assuming that he'd ever want to become a Canadian citizen), I hope he's prepared to wait three hours in a hospital emergency room.

One thing that this thread clearly establishes is that there is one thing that Roberto is even worse at than being "movie critic". This is of course being a pitcher of ideas for movies. Where do I even begin with this one?
1. I wasn't even sure who Al Borian is, no one remembers his name
2. "Home Improvement" nostalgic yearning? I repeat, "Home Improvement" nostalgic yearning? Who and in which age group wants "Home Improvement" sequel/spinoff/anything? Not even once I heard anyone cares for this.
3. Al was even in "Home Improvement" not an interesting or remembered part of the show. He is not some Uncle Jessie/Steve Urkel type of secondary character that stelas the show, He was there. Nothing important about him. That weird neighbour behind the fence is more remembered.
4. First season Pamela Anderson is more remembred and we can all admit that we will be more intrigued by Pamela Anderson show than anything that Blob mind can conjure.
5. I am very generous with saying that "reviving sitcoms" has mixed results. "Fuller House" is not failing, but its not this mega success story. "Saved by the Bell" largely exists in uncaring void and nothing else caught on. People may love "Fiends" and "Seinfeld" etc. but not enough to just watch new series withou the main characters or very aged version of them that proves how much the ideas and themes aged and dont work well in todays society. Which brings us to...
6. The more Roberto's explains his idea, the worse it gets. The "sidekick" which tries to push in the show "internet techniobabble" like QR codes and blockchain is not going to pull in younger crowds. Its the same thing as all the shows with stupid hacking scenes or the Video Game episodes of CSI. They all come out disconnected essays by Boomers explaining to youngsters how everything was better in ye ol'days. Everyone which has semblence of technological knowledge (95% of those who may watch this series has better tech knowledge than Roberto or anyone which could write this) will roll their eyes and just HATE this thing.

*****
Lastly, unconnected, but I did not bother to add the quotes. His "Captain Marvel" new spiel proves several things: he cant think of any original idea for the next phase so he just wants to recycle the older materials from the MCU (lets break the Avengers, just like in CW and then do big event like in Endgame...), He is thirsting over young girls more and more to the point of pushing 80s like "kids vs adults" movies (everyone hates that, even the teenagers of today know its dated ideas and love more "the older heroes") and he is really overrated by those who he converses with about his "predicting" ability. This is something people here can give more insight than me, do we have some compiled list of MovieBov "predictions" that came true? Because for the life of me, I dont remember single one.

And it's stupid how Bob bitches about Gwen Stacy having to always be Spiderman's girlfriend who dies, but he wants to double down on Carol Danvers only ever being interesting because she gave Rogue, a much more interesting character, cool super powers.
Exactly, also reminder, in the Comics which Roberto clearly does not care about, Carol was not in a coma for large amount of time (she woke up the same issue). Carol was also the best "human" friend the X-Men had for many years after the incident, helping them vs the government. Also, the entiore reason for the incident was to erase that weird "raped by her son" storyline and not to make her "pay for her sins" as Roberto wants it to be.

*Points at the picture with a long stick* OK - People, this is why ugly fat retards who never go outside shouldn't try to be political commentators. After all, why would you take political advice from a dude who can't even figure out a diet? For my TED talk, I would like to bring up why this dipshit dying in a gutter would be a good thing.

So I guess GG harassed him like we harass him: By sitting 50 miles away and screencapping his retardation for entertainment purposes.
Even if we pretend Gamergate was a harassment campaign, I can guarantee you that the left as a whole was far more willing to harass people and far nastier in how it harassed people than the pro-GG side ever was. People still kvetch about someone calling Zoe Quinn a slut online, but Andy Ngô gets called far worse every day and none of the people who talk about Gamergate as if it still means anything ever complain about that. "Anita got doxed" is one of their main arguments they use to try and prove it was a "harassment campaign", but do they ever talk about how leftist groups spent the summer of 2020 doxing politicians and protesting outside their houses at 5 in the morning to stop them sleeping? You bet they don't.

The CBC is insulated from market forces and thus pursues stories that are largely irrelevant to the Canadian public.
Tell me about it. I was stuck at a family member's house over Christmas and he was watching it. The "local" news was like 25 minutes of international/national Covid "news" and this quick afterthought item that a mutilated body had been found like 10 blocks from our cousin's house.

That they're uberwoke doesn't surprise me, sadly, and not just because they're an instrument of Prince Justin the Dim's will. I knew a guy who worked parking lots back when parking lots still had human attendants. One of his gigs was at a lot near a CBC building in Quebec. His assessment of the place? "I'm glad I don't work there. It's full of queers."

I haven't seen Home Improvement in a long time, but wasn't Al just there so Tim could make fun of him?

I remember it being like Joe from Family Guy, where he's just constantly being shit on.
Al was the straight man for Tim's crazy antics. He was just there to provide comedic contrast by being a competent everyman. No matter how much Tim made fun of Al, Al was always vindicated when Tim's overpowered creations blew up, sometimes literally, in his face.

The only thing that could make an Al Borland spin off kinda work is if they went The Andy Griffith route and he was the only regular guy in a town full of weirdos but that wouldn't work because Al and Andy are two very different characters. Bob doesn't care about this because all he cares about is erasing Tim Allen from his own creation.

This is something people here can give more insight than me, do we have some compiled list of MovieBov "predictions" that came true? Because for the life of me, I dont remember single one.
He sorta has two half-right ones from off the top of my head if we're only counting recent times. This is also not including various inaccuracies he has like whenever he opens his mouth about "the gods are ancient aliens" which he doesn't get is a movie thing or any time he fails at pretending to know what he's on about.
Predictions that were right:
  1. Sharon Carter was the Power Broker in Falcon and the Winter Soldier (He specified "as a Hydra agent" which didn't pan out)
  2. Spider-Man: No Way Home would end with a clean slate for whoever the next director is (he thought the MCU cast like Michelle would stick around though)
Predictions that were wrong:
  1. Grouping them here but the MCU incorporating various IPs like Alien, Predator, Conan, Rocketeer, "Honey, I shrunk the kids", Star Wars, etc. because he bizarrely thinks everything Disney owns or Marvel's published for is on the table
  2. Karen, the AI in Spider-Man's tech suit, will be the MCU's counterpart to the symbiote
  3. WandaVision would either bring in the FOX X-Men or introduce a new one
  4. WandaVision would introduce the Squadron Supreme with Dottie being Arcana Jones
  5. Falcon and the Winter Soldier will introduce the X-Men with Wolverine
  6. The Flag Smashers will turn out to be the good guys as Disney's manifesto for a borderless world
  7. John Walker will be a villain (He kept confusing him for Willaim Burnside from his wiki diving)
  8. Willem DaFoe's Norman Osborn will be behind the Flag Smashers after a cross-universe trip
  9. Miss Minutes will be the villain of Loki and is somehow Nemesis, the dead god the infinity gems came from (ignoring the infinite stones have a different origin in the MCU)
  10. Marvel Studios would declare the pre-Disney+ shows non-canon
  11. Multiverse travel was going on before Loki's finale (You could arguably give him this one since interviews and cut scenes do elaborate the TVA was only purging realities that branched off their own rather than the entire multiverse...since you know, other Marvel media was still coming out. It's only wrong in the context of just MCU related media)
  12. The Eternals would become the Mandarin's 10 rings by the end of their movie somehow and be the new multi-phase fetch quest like the infinity stones
  13. The ring sending out a signal at the end of Shang-Chi is Galactus foreshadowing (Still could happen but Fin Fang Foom is more reasonable)
  14. Disney+ announcing the X-Men TAS revival means they'll make it MCU canon by way of a reality warping event as a finale (Hasn't come out to disprove but like the last one, feels batshit enough to include)
  15. The black suit in NWH is the MCU's version of the symbiote and is made from Kang's tech
  16. The Raimi and TASM villains got flung to different points in the MCU's history and have been affecting things for years
  17. Miles and/or Spider-Gwen in NWH
  18. Time travel and/or Wolverine in Hawkeye

I always thought Al was the straight man, the guy on Tool Time who actually understood home improvement work and knew what he was doing, serving as a contrast to Tim who was obviously clueless and always messed things up.

Ugh I knew Blobbert the Stupid was exceptional, but his take on the Tara Henley article is beyond ignorant. There's still enough Boomers (and Silent Generation) for CBC radio (and Television) to cater to, that the decision to go exclusively full Woke Identity Bullshit makes NO sense at all. Bob's never listened to CBC radio is my guess (I don't think it reaches into Boston by airwaves and I doubt he's listened to it online) and he has no clue what he's talking about. NO, Bob, Tara Henley is NOT complaining about "interviewing Filipinos". She is not bothered by doing so. Her problem with it is THE TOPIC (and there's not a whole lot of Filipinos about to reach out to that have any expertise on the matter in question) and the push for identity politics.

For context I'm going to post the top comment (and a sliver of the next one) in that thread:
1641409387796.png

Like the CBC staffers the commenter Junior refers to, Bobby thinks in exclusive terms of Black and White when it comes to Politics and Media. Radio is not the soopeeryah fyootchah, though, it is podcasts and youtube and other internet media. The millenials aren't going to flock to CBC radio. They're too busy listening to music. Bob doesn't understand that these are PROGRESSIVES that are noticing what's going on and not liking it, but I guess he thinks (if he knows) that these are all the equivalent of Tulsi Gabbard or Joe Manchin and are thus secret right wing bigots or whatever. Bob's retweet of that ignorant fool that replied to Greenwald on the matter of "White straight cis content" just proves neither Bob nor his retwat have any clue what normal CBC content (before this shit started) even actually WAS. There was PLENTY of diversity on CBC before they started laser-focusing on it. Now it's like, if a straight cis white male gets hit by a truck, they wouldn't report it, but they would if a trans lesbian of color got hit by a truck.

Also I just wanna point out, if they made Rogue into a STRONGK Woman of Color, maybe then it would be OK with Bob's social justice senpais if Rogue stole CAPTAIN Marvel's (not current Miss Marvel's) powers and darn near or totally killing her (putting her into a coma), Bob?

Chu-Chu and the Mutant Insults also makes no sense because X-men and the Soopeeryah Fyootchah (and these fools claim to understand SCIENCE).

Quelle surprise. Bob knows jack shit about the CBC and misrepresents Tara Henley's arguments.
