Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Claiming to believe in equal treatment before the law is merely a fantasy that is only spouted by the terminally naive or the comfortable.
In a perfect world, the Summer Riots would've been handled the same as how 1/6 was handled.

I refuse to just accept a basic answer of 1/6 being an "insurrection" or "peaceful Capitol visit." It's a bit more complicated than that, especially with how current politics is.

This is probably an unpopular take, but they do deserve to be in jail since they committed a crime. It's a minor crime and has been blown out of proportion by a bunch of agitprop and elites trying to use it as the American Reichstag, but vandalism is still a crime.
"That guy put his feet up on Nancy Pelosi's desk, he should be locked away for the good of society!!!1111!!!!"
Come the fuck on, now. You're right in saying it's unpopular.
In a sane society, the Capitol rioters would have an experience such as this:

QAnon Shaman would be out in 30 minutes, tops.

Seriously though, these people are being held in internment camps in the Forbidden City of Washington B.C. Congratulations, Biden's handlers! You finally made the man the second coming of FDR.

The world is not perfect. The organizers of those riots knew perfectly well that they had DAs that wouldn't prosecute their footsoldiers. Only a fool would have done it without that kind of foreknowledge.

And they thought that was perfectly fine and just.
That's where the complication comes into play. We were told to believe that "causing good trouble" is justified for enacting social change. People are ignorant or manipulative with using history to justify total "anarchy" WITH the protection granted from the state they so despise.

Of course, you're going to see a cause and effect of "why don't WE try it for a change?" Hence last year.

That said, that was a poor excuse of an "insurrection," "coup," or "visit." You had a bunch of LARPERs have a supposed opportunity to "fight a good fight" only to just trespass in a federal building, make messes, take photos, WITH their identifies front and center, and then just leave.

Other than some politicians and a "story of the ages," nothing significant came from that.

Axios is reporting Sinema told Democrat leaders at lunch yesterday she will not support removing the filibuster.
From Axios as well I also saw some GOP staffer claim there's unnamed other Democrats who oppose removing the filibuster as well. Matches with what we've already heard/know, probably fellow moderates within the Blue Dog Caucus. I wonder if the Dems will eventually cave and chop BBB up into a bunch of seperate bills Manchin can veto at will, or if they would legitimately rather just do nothing and lose.

Fuck NATO (which we're the bulk of anyway), the leafs wouldn't stand a chance against the US alone.

The US is ranked third in active personnel. Leafistan is ranked 55th. Any delusions of Canadia "saving" the US are downright hysterical.
This doesn't factor in an armed citizenry forming militias all across the nation during a foreign military invasion. You can probably tack another 10 or so million troops onto the US side when considering that, and the vast majority of them would operate independently of state orders. They're also much less likely to adhere to the Geneva Convention and will probably not take prisoners. There'd be bodies hanging from the Niagara bridge dressed in RCMP uniforms taliban style within the first month.

Breaking news: Senator does not support motion that removes her own power and importance.

What the fuck is Schumer thinking?
Thankfully for the old man, Schumer doesn't need to think much these days. Politics is remarkably simple in Congress: if Manchin doesn't like it, it doesn't happen.

I'm surprised nobody has tried going after Manchin's family yet.

That's what I want to know. I heard on the radio last night, the host's theory was basically Schumer has been around long enough to remember Carter and how his presidency was so bad it made Democrats irrelevant for 12 years until Clinton came along. Even with Clinton it took a third party to take down Bush Sr, so that may have extended another 4 years. The host thinks Schumer is scared so much by how bad Biden is, that the Republicans might go on a run here, especially with how the woke side of the Democrats have taken over and have the charisma and likeability of pancreatic cancer. Schumer is basically just flailing his arms in anger trying to get something through to try and stop what is coming. It is why they are going so hard with this January 6th shit to try and stop Trump from running in 2024, because the Republicans have that 1/2 punch setup with Trump and DeSantis, while the Democrats have absolutely no one for 2024 and beyond. Their donors thinking of a Mayor Pete and Kamala ticket or Kamala/Hillary ticket just shows how out of touch they are.

Oh they did, they went after his daughter in September/October because the company she is the head of teamed up with Pfizer(lol) to keep the price of EpiPens artificially high.

It worked because Biden had some clout with unions and the black vote(for whatever reason). The black vote will never come out for Howdy Doody or Kamala.
I would say never say never with those on the blue plantation. They may gnash and wail on Twatter but they'll still pull the blue lever at the end of the day.

I'll believe it when the GOP actually recaptures both houses despite the redistricting disadvantage.

Everybody involved in 1/6 are idiots, shysters, manipulators, whatever you can call it.

The boomers for failing to have sense to know what political protest is, instead just treating it as a grift, a game to just cause a ruckus. All the while, the man that started it just left them hung to dry while he's fighting a "election fraud" case in Florida.

The politicians for having no foresight or care to realize that their policies and bitterness was what caused the spark in the first place. They expect me to feel sorry for them cowering on the floor when they've caused DECADES of American apathy through war, recession, outsourcing, greed, corruption and espionage? Not to mention four years of fear mongering about "our democracy" being a peril under some businessman?

And lastly, the media. Five straight years of pure propaganda and lying all for a man that won an election fair and square. You start to dehumanize people, your own audience, your own countrymen through deceit and hatred, expect a fair bit of backlash. Journalism is a dead profession thanks to the Internet and ratings consumption.

What all these factors have in common is that they publicly exposed how vulnerable modern society has turned. 1/6 WAS a tragedy, just not the way everybody is saying it is.
