Georgia 'LYNCHING' citizen fatally shoots unarmed black man ... Video Emerges, Grand Jury to Convene

The fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery -- a 25-year-old black man out for a jog when he was chased and killed -- was caught on video, prompting a call for a grand jury to review the case.

Arbery's death is being referred to as a modern-day lynching, as he was unarmed when he was gunned down in Brunswick, GA on February 23 by a white citizen named Travis McMichael ... who has not been arrested or charged. He also happens to be the son of a former district attorney investigator.

As you can see in the video, Arbery was jogging when he was stopped by McMichael and his father in a white pickup truck. McMichael was armed with a shotgun. Arbery appears to attempt to run around the truck before he and McMichael start grappling.

After at least 2 shots, the men continued struggling over the gun ... until Arbery stumbles away, shot in the mid-section, and then collapses to the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

McMichael has not been charged in the shooting ... reportedly because he and his father, who was in the back of the truck, claim they were trying to make a citizen's arrest. They claim Ahmaud fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break-ins in the area.

After the emergence of the video, D.A. Pro Tempore Tom Durden has decided the case "should be presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”

Ahmaud's family says the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Here's the statement from the district attorney who was brought in to oversee the case and decide how and whether the case should be prosecuted.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Arberys mother, claims "The series of events captured in this video confirm what all the evidence indicated prior to its release— Ahmaud Arbery was pursued by three white men that targeted him solely because of his race and murdered him..."

There’s also that Arbery had nothing stolen on him, or near him. Hard to be a theft if nothing was taken.
That just isn't true, there was the hammer, on video, that magically appears on the ground once Arbury starts running.

Idk why people have such a hard time with acknowledging all parties involved were idiots and not innocent bystanders.

Was Arbury stealing? Probably to yes, 100%. We're the McMichaels idiots? Yes 100%. Should Arbury have been shot? Probably not but play stupid games win stupid prizes. Everyone here won their prize for very stupid actions, including everything that happened after the incident and prior to trial.

But that long criminal history has nothing to do with that moment. He was just jogging and then a pickup truck rolled up on him with people with guns. It would be quite the stretch to say it was an arrest since it was just a regular white pick up with regular civilians in civilian clothing, rolling up on him with gun at hand. Not many people would know what to do at that moment right? It's not everyday one jogs and suddenly a car with people with guns trying to arrest you or in this case make a citizens arrest. None of the actions of what the men did seem legal, and like I said before, with a situation like that, any bodies mind would go crazy since nothing is known about what to do. He was in an extremely precarious position and like I said before, fight-or-flight, but it seemed fight-or-flight might've ended the same way regardless.
I know exactly what I would do. Hands up, comply with demands, as I would be expecting this to be a robbery. Since the 3 men's intent in this case was a citizen's arrest, it means just waiting for police to arrive and sort the situation.

If Ahmund complied like any sane person, he would be alive, and 3 guys would have gotten bitchslapped by the courts for their stupidity. Instead we have 1 dead, and 3 waiting for the needle.

Video is right there. He didn't try to hit Aubrey. He slows down as Aubrey runs toward him. Nor did he box him in. Aubrey could have ran right by him or into a yard.
Hey man I am just going by what his defense lawyer is saying, such as if Bryan had ran him while he was "chasing" him down them maybe he would still be alive, and schizos like you wonder why he got the sentence he got.

And do you, or anyone else, have proof that hammer was at that site, that he had taken it?

There was no evidence for that. Nothing on the camera. Nothing on the recording. Nothing reported missing. Hell, that might not be a hammer. So, no. The defense never even tried to bring that up IIRC. Quit being a fucking retard.

Controversial opinion: I'd hardly say someone stealing a hammer is worthy of a citizens arrest unless that hammer is made out of medieval-era steel and studded with 14 caret diamonds.

Now, getting those hands mashed into putty by that hammer?

That's just poetry.

Also very Islamic.

I wouldn't disagree that the law on citizen arrests should be updated, but the law at the time would indicate it is. You have to treat people according to the law as it is, not as we would prefer.

With guns and a pickup truck? I wouldn’t say that a good way to treat someone off the bat.

That sounds appropriate for a citizens arrest. If not for the shotgun, McMichaels might be dead from Ahmaud slamming his head against the road top. Not a great outcome either.

If you're looking to blame someone, blame the State. They abdicated their duty in policing Ahmaud specifically (he should have been in jail for his prior crimes but they let him continue escalating) and that neighborhood in general. The local police literally gave McMichaels number to citizens to call for help since they (the uniformed cops) weren't going to bother with crime in the neighborhood.

Then when the problem they actively ignored got handled ineptly suddenly justice demands that the citizens pay for the failures of the state? That is bullshit.

Lawyers will say anything that they think will help their case. Regardless if its factually true or not. If it prevents their client from spending life in prison, why not?

Edit: He got the sentence he got because he was white and involved in a joggers death. He didn't do anything that caused the outcome that occurred.
