Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Given how Bernie's base for both runnings were of the college base, and given their fickleness on actual, tangible policy and structure, it's safe that even IF Bernie won, they would've turned on him some time soon.

Hillary's attractiveness to the Black vote was less than Trump. I say good, more for me then.

His messaging changed quite a bit, Bernie himself was saying basically the same things in 2020 but his campaign was infested by the woke along with creepy crypto-communists. In 2016 his campaign had kind of a "We are America" vibe, whereas 2020 was more like "We have to destroy America in order to save it." He wouldn't have anywhere near as good a shot if he had been nominated in 2020.

You didn't hear? We now live in Hell, where campaign season begins the day the politicians are sworn or re-sworn into office. Build Back Better and the infrastructure bill was going to form the center of the midterms campaign but the party's choice of "staff" for the campaign wasn't exactly optimal.

There is no way Bernie would've won in 2016. None of the shit he spewed would've flown with much of the 60+ Dem crowd and probably would've gotten the ones who are actually conservative at heart to finally change lanes and vote red. It would've made Republicans hesitant to board the Trump Train buy tickets for the whole family. And believe it or not, not every college kid sucks on commie juice so he wouldn't have gotten 100% of that vote, which is an already wshy-washy one.

Thank you Gehenna, I appreciate your takes. They help me maintain hope. Covid has made people unapproachably unreasonable and certain topics truly ineffable. All the articles about the political fever pitch, unable to imagine how the political climate could further heat up and polarize. Then covid, and people using science with something like theological strength behind their arguments. What was after unprecedented political unrest?—apparently an atheist religious persecution. An inquisition.

I'm voting red for the foreseeable future. I'm gay and I have more in common with conservatives, in wanting a mate and family, and to promote family values. Our culture has progressed to homosexual marriage, monogamous and between adults, and so now I'm conservative of those values. Trans bullshit makes me sick, because it targets gender noncomfomity, which by definition is homosexuals.

I support the LGB Alliance UK. That may answer many of your questions.

But you asked how it feels.
I feel betrayed. I feel used. I feel a victim of "forced teaming." Everyone in my friend group on 'my side' has either said I'm transphobic, or said nothing when a friend calls me a transphobe for saying no, transmen are not men, and gay men don't want them. I feel like Cassandra. All social media has censored homosexuals from saying homosexuality excludes the opposite sex. I felt unsupported by the wishiwashiness, and persecuted by my supposed allies. They would never call me a faggot, but they let the definition of homosexuality become controversial again. Even in a close friend group. I'll never forget it. And so I've felt hopeless, specifically hopeless because I see people as fickle and capricious. I'm angry that LGB is used to shield the mutilation-for-profit T. And when you know pharma is deriving profit from cross sex hormones, taken with the opioid crisis the jab is obviously sinister. By their fruits you shall know them. And it's all blood money. Wherever I see a pride flag, especially a progress flag, with the trans black and brown wedge driving off the rainbow, I see it as either an ignorant fair weather friend or an enemy. The backlash is already coming. When it comes, for the above reasons I'm afraid no one will stand. Push has come to shove, and worse. I feel despair. The rightthink woke are recloseting us.

I felt a kinship with conservative and even religious heterosexuals, that the left has gone insane, and we want marriage and family, and we are both in need friends in this political turmoil. True friends because we agree fundamentally in wanting stable monogamous family units.

most of the gay dudes I've known irl were mostly horrified at The Gay Community (tm) and are like "I just want to netflix and chill what the fuck is wrong with you people"
