Is he not allowed to bring any food into his room, or just the cafeteria meals? This is kind of a strange rule; is it because they're afraid people won't finish their meals if left unsupervised?

It may just be for him. That they implemented because he carries food in there, and while he most likely will eat everything, he won't clean up. Probably just left dishes and trash everywhere, and all you need to think is from Archer.

I wonder if thats a specific wern rule. After all he did make videos showing off his snack food stash a few times after he moved in, and every nursing home i've worked in allows everyone, even dementia patients to eat in their rooms. Somehow I suspect that stash of food caused some problems and got lucas a talking to. Maybe he left a bunch of shit in the closet that attracted bugs or something. It doesn't make any sense at all for him to be allowed to hoard his snacks in there and eat the stuff he was on video but not his means unless he did something that made staff put an end to it

1. the workday laws originated from the industrial revolution and was a 10 hour workday. in Spain, I think King Philip (?) had a law stipulating an 8 hour day. the industrial revolution brought many variations in places all over the Angelosphere: 12 hours in France, 10 hours in Britain/US et c. IIRC it was pushed heavily by a collectivist (not communist or socialist) named Robert Owen, a textile industrialist in order to increase efficiency. Henry Ford likewise pushed for increased paychecks and worker benefits because both of these things attracted and maintained efficient work/life balance and also allowed employees to buy the products of their labor, and putting pressure on competitors. the weekend was always a thing and started as a religious observance that eventually came into law. trade unions are arguably the closest to communism, but even then, they are socialist in nature, and trade unions and guilds have always been around since antiquity and have no real bearing on communist economic theory.

2. "fascism" as authoritarianism has been pushed by modern communists seeking a top-down state control of the economy for over 200 years. in WW2, "facist" Germany was outgrowing the failure of the German Weimer Republic and a rise of populism and nationalism which gave way to authoritarianism and a concept of the state-benefit. you coul be as communist or socialist as you wanted, so long as it benefited the state/community (ie, the German Volk). history also pretty clearly shows that violent communist rioting and fighting was always a terror in Germany, using trade unions and anarchists as guises to push for a dissolution of the German state to gain power over the country - this hatred allowed extreme nationalism to turn into totalitarianism and pushed against the communist terrorists. if you want a clearer picture of a situation where the communists "won" look at Spain during their civil war.

3. communism made everyone equally poor unless you were more equal than others. communism also killed off or imprisoned people that disagreed with the communists or who made them look bad (the poor, the disabled, the ill, the unemployed, et c) or used them as showpieces and propaganda. talk to anyone from a former Soviet country, or someone from current communist countries to get an idea how this worked. there are also many variations of communism, with the "working" ones being basically socialist in policy making, but otherwise capitalist in market theory. Mao's "communist" PRC also let loose COVID-19 on the world (and SARS, and it's other variations) and use brutal suppression methods that are markers of communism to censor and top-down control the people into compliance. it's essentially you can't have a spreading disease if people are dead, dying, and their bodies burned or buried. that's a pretty grim solution, but a solution that works. you can also solve hunger the "communist" way and simply kill off all the hungry people.

That’s the thing with trying to explain the world with memes they are so so simple and generally speaking it’s very dumb people who like to spam them to sound smart. In 1988 Gorbachev opened up the sealed archives and rehabilitated Bukharin in the spirit of his own liberalization strategy.

So, the whole businesses run for free thing.... I think there may have been a handful of businesses that opened up and did some charity work for people in the neighborhood after the Rodney King riots in LA. This was not all of them, though.

Lucas has very black and white thinking. Everything is this or that. If a few people meet that description or a few businesses did something, then all of them will or have. Gen Z woman, then they are a socialist. Republicans? Bad. This also ties into his transactional view of relationships. And people or actions that are what he wants, is what he runs with. And the people or institutions that do not follow what he thinks should happen are bad and not doing the right thing.

And he starts reeeing when people suggest he may not be right. In the Goldoar era, with those interviews, this was demonstrated a few times with Lucas chimping out when it was suggested that his view point was not correct.
