I don't know if this belongs here but since ANN and anime feminist share the same reviewers I guess this belongs here.

To be fair, the multiple foot shots ARE strange, but that's as much as I'll agree with Anifem.

Hey that's one of the shows this season I was hyped for and stayed away from reading ANN's takes on, actually
It's a quick scene that makes sense if you watch the show. It's not 'Tarantino's fetish: the anime' by any means. Going back to our earlier conversation about the reviewers... most of these idiots write as if they're on their personal blogspot, livejournal or tumblr. Snark, going on a tangent unrelated to the show or simply writing stupid Kotaku-esque non-reviews. Nothing about discovering or reviewing shows that may be overlooked. Take for example Taisho Otomoe Fairy Tale. This show flew under the radar. It's a cute romance with comedy, drama and some historical elements. No one there kept up with the show after dismissing it during their preview guide. They aim to write for a young demographic despite some of these writers being in their mid to late 30s.

Y'know I always wondered why ANN's writers are as homogeneous as they are. Is there some kind of shortage of people willing to write about anime that's forcing them to only have American millennials for writers?

Nah, I think at this point they're gate keeping hard.
Like they have that outlet, and just like the nasty little Heather's that where mean to them, they do unto others.
You don't look, act, think like them, then you can't sit at their table.
It didn't used to be that bad.
I used/lurked on that site for a long time til recently.
I'm not sure when it got that bad, it just slowly started and then one day, there it was...

Most of their articles in current day has them trying to replicate the Generation Z-like humor that’s mostly dictating some of the content that gets pushed onto social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

If anything, ANN is trying to catch up with them, to the point where their own reviews look as if they’re lacking quality. It’s even worse when most of them don’t even look like they watch the anime they’re reviewing.

I was there back in the day well over a decade ago, and it's always been that that bad imo. Zac was obviously a deranged spiteful nutcase in regards to how he moderated their forum in an attempt to control people's thoughts.

The commie SJW shit has also always been there as well as the anger at fanservice and moe. I remember one bad review they gave to a popular well-produced magical girl show that made a lot of people quit the site, and this was eons ago. Zac one time bragged on Something Awful about how he was fighting "gamergate" before gamergate was a thing, as in that he was proud ANN was a proto-SJW website.

It just seems his and the other founders' insanity has transferred to other people. The fact they hooked up with these anifeminist idiots was not a mistake. That's what they want for anime period.

If I had to hazard a guess; Zac's preview guide review of Madoka from way back in Winter 2011?

I think it was Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. I don't remember if it was a contemporaneous review, but it was a long time ago before they made movies from it.

Ironic coming from a site that jerks off Sailor Moon and Revolutionary Girl Utena, both shows that have naked underage girls as a central part of their content.

I regret writing a feminist term paper on Utena, but I'm reformed now. I still like the show even after I deprogrammed myself, but it absolutely attracts the worst kind of elitist snobs due to it being jam packed with symbolism inside the shojo/yuri window dressing. Its US fans are mostly awful people unfortunately.

Sailor Moon fandom may be even worse in that regard and is like an lolcow factory, but at least normals know what it is because it aired on US TV.

Caitlin (the one who actually called it copaganda, unlike the rest who just cried about how boring it was. Of course if it would be one it was going to be Caitlin) gives the show a mention in her review.

Are cops even seen as negatively in Japan? If not this just reminds me of when Zac shat on the airsoft girls hobby anime because of AMERICAN gun politics
ACABUIJ6 (All Cops Are Bastards Unless It's January 6th)

The show wasn't anything to get upset about. It just started off slow. There were a few jokes and the main character even mentions how her dad hated the cops for ruining their trip by giving him a speeding ticket. It'll take a few episodes to find its footing, I'm sure. Are speeding tickets over there really around $1,500 ? No wonder people get pissed. I'm surprised they didn't pull some dumb shit like Mercedez did with Aquatope and call it a "queer coded" show since apparently women can't be platonic friends. Although Rebecca Silverman thought it was yuri, much to her dismay. Even Richard Eisenbeis has to make it political and mention "racial profiling" since he's a white dude in Japan. Oh, you poor oppressed gaijin. Funny you mention Chiaki, I found some dirt on that troon. Tomoaki Hirai is his actual name (he still uses it as on his linkedin profile and it's still his facebook URL despite going by "Chiyaki" now) and he went to College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, CA and graduated in 2010. It seems that Hirai has a kink for translating trap manga and is some sort of furry. A three-headed catgirl? His main twitter profile is private in order to save us the weird gay furry shit that constantly gets retweeted, I'm sure. Don't worry, there's still anime commentary and ugly selfies avaiable on a separate anime shitposting account: https://twitter.com/AnimatedEmpress/

I see ANN has invented a cure for yellow fever.

yeah the show is weird but it's not made in abyss tier of weird.

aside from that i don't it's funny seeing these retards having a mental breakdown over a cute girls doing cute things anime.
CGDCT shows are pleb filters that keep out pretentious people like ANN. Their degenerate minds are too corrupted to watch CGDCT.
